Use plastic to cover the floor use a water proofing paint or cement sealer over concrete walls. In a short amount of time you will see mold grow behind the plastic ask me how i know. Install a vent fan in basement that will vent the space on a moisture/humidity switch/timer.
Our pets are our hearts! We love them! And it warms my heart that you watch over and take such great care of those beautiful dogs! We lost our beloved lab 8 years ago , and cherished every moment with her. Nothing can take her place! 💔
Hey for any future project you siga fentrim 430 grey tape. Its not double sided but it has a split on the peel of the 4inch tape so you pull off 2inches and when ready to hang plastic you peel off the over 2 inches. This tape is made to stick to concrete and there is not pulling it off once it adheres. Its made for wood to foundation seal but its the only tape I have ever used that wont lose its stick over the years. Its like it becomes one with the concrete.
I had to go get a cold glass of water just watching you. 90% humidity is nothing to play with. Growing up in MO my dad did the typical Rec-Room finishing in our basement. In summer it became our refuge. Central air conditioning for homes was just beginning to become available (back then - don't ask) and was outrageously expensive. As kids, one of our tasks was to regularly check the holding tank of the dehumidifier. An overflow on your watch usually meant extra chores (real or imagined).
God bless your heart that's going to be a long drawn-out process but I know that you're going to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel to me you've got the hardest part done you've got the clean up done
I am exhausted watching you and can just feel that humidity. UGH. Please stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks. Can you use the waterproof sealant on the bricks that we put around our shower install .......it's pink and prevents water from leaking in or out...........worried about mold building between the bricks and plastic sheeting you are putting up..............wishing you guys all the best. It is a job indeed! Take good care and be careful of any mold spores that may still be lurking. It looks good and I pray it is the answer for your moisture issues. Blessings to you both.
Watching you do this brought to mind a technique that I have seen in British renovation shows about very old building techniques and how modern people ruin spaces using inappropriate ways of handling problems. That said, have you thought about using layers of lime plaster which has moisture balancing properties?
Nate, I know how you and Katie research everything you do and applaud all your hard work. Take good care of yourself and remember we are all sincerely wishing you the best as you continue to clean and build your homestead. ❤️🙏🏻
Please explain why you are putting up the plastic seems like it will cause moisture/mold issue between it & the wall. Like the other viewers mention I would use Dry lock first.
Great job Nate !! Would using a box fan help, if set up to blow out of the space ? Piggy's look really good and they've gotten lots of ground cleared .
Oh my word, you are a hard worker Nate, it makes me crazy how meticulous you are haha. But did you look into spray foam? It is a miraculous vapor barrier and mold retardant. The best part about it is that it is literally done in 30 minutes.
Hey as a pest control Business owner.we also do moisture work as well, I would definitely make sure you have termite treatment done being they will hide behind insulation even with a gap to inspect. Being I saw in other video old termite tubes that were on the joist
You are doing a great job on hanging the plastic Nate. It really does make it look clean and tidy. Your pigs have done a great job clearing that space, where will you put them next? Thanks for sharing and please keep hydrated. Have a Blessed day.
Seems adding plastic will just cause more mold eventually. Couldn't you just keep it dry with fans and dehumidifier? Plastic doesn't work longterm I don't think.
Yes, I saw other companies doing it that same way to fix mold in crawl spaces. And yes, they do their research before they do anything. Which I love, by the way!! Just love them and their vlogs.
Do you have vents for air flow Vents in the walls around your foundation you need air movement. Sealing it up will create the same issue you just fixed please do your research on this if you look at any homes built since the 1970 on built over a crawl space and partial basement have vents.
Curious as to why you keep the feed biwls and water bowls so close to the wire fence? I noticed you do that for all the animals and the pig shelter? You take such good care of all the animals and thought being so close to the hot wire and not a good thing to do. I don't know how you stayed in that space with the humidity so high! Stay hydrated and be well.
for your pigs. you should make a trough, put the food in it and start adding leftover veggies and fruit. they will eat all kinds of crap. over cook once your garden is up and running. with pigs eating stuff they find in the woods they aren't gonna get all the nutrients they need. also the more they eat the faster they will grow and be ready to process into meat.
They sell "water proof sealant" type of roll on thick paint. IT'S NOT PAINT so it can't be sprayed on bcos it's way to thick. Won't that keep the moisture out of the bricks? I don't know about the use on the wood beams. Your friends from Simple Life just put it on their interior bricks in the last couple of videos. You should talk to them about it, as they have experience with it. IMO, that plastic barrier on the walls won't be as affective bcos the moisture will just run down the plastic.
They fought when we used a bowl...even when we put it in multiple bowls. This encourages them to root where we want them to and they do spat over the food anymore.
The mower is still working great. Battery usage varies on speed settings and also if you are mowing constantly. We can mow for close to two hours without needing a charge. We will look to make an update video on the mower and what we like/dis-like about it.
It seems like you won't get the full value of the pig food when you sprinkle it all over the ground areas....why not just put it in a couple of plastic buckets/trays??? Have really checked out professional advice for your desires in the crawl space???
i see you not make holes to let air in and out and the last thing you need do on is not put platic on the wlls leave so air can get to the walls placte only make water ik your a fool doing that put black on walls not that you never get rid of damp till you vent tour seller make holes in wall so air can enter in abd out use fans
Why? Pigs route around in the dirt and have been clearing the areas they are in. That's what they do. Why use a bowl? They're just going to tip over anyway.

Seems like you’re just making a new wonderful habitat for mold behind your plastic.
This is what most of the professionals who came out to fix it recommended to keep it from returning.
I just encapsulated my crawlspace recently and added a dehumidifier. Saved my family thousands.
There’s a product called dry lock you paint on the wall I don’t know if it would work in your case but good luck 👍🇨🇦👍
Yor sheep are sooo cute!
God bless your heart that's going to be a long drawn-out process but I know that you're going to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel to me you've got the hardest part done you've got the clean up done
Nate, you are made of tough stuff. I would be tempted to bulldoze the place and start anew.
I am exhausted watching you and can just feel that humidity. UGH. Please stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks.

Kinda. curious why no DryLoc painted on the block? Nice meticulous job…making progress🎉
I was thinking the same thing.
Lots of work
Best of luck to ya on this crawl space 👍🤗❤
Someone once told me I was indefatigable. I believe you are also! You are doing a great job, stay well.
Concrete wire brush attached to your drill could make the surface rough and doable so that you could use the tape
Oh boy, that's so humid! Stay hydrated! Great job!🤗
Yes, thank you
You did an amazing job doing it all by yourself. You were so meticulous putting up the plastic. Wish my crawl space was that nice!
Love those two dogs! They are so playful! Glad to hear you were running the ac in the truck for them! Your doing an awesome job! 💖😀
a very skilled human being👍👍👏👏
Watching you do this brought to mind a technique that I have seen in British renovation shows about very old building techniques and how modern people ruin spaces using inappropriate ways of handling problems. This would make Dexter very proud...
Nate, I know how you and Katie research everything you do and applaud all your hard work. Take good care of yourself and remember we are all sincerely wishing you the best as you continue to clean and build your homestead. ❤️🙏🏻
Hello Donna
Yes, we research everything :) It is starting to come together
Take care and don't overdo in that humidity. The first day you almost looked like you were ready to pass out. It's looking great though.
Hello there
Great job...
Hello carr
You have so much fortitude!!!!
Glad you are getting it done know its hard on younwith all the heat and humidity
Could you explain on the next one about the use of the plastic and how it will work? Did you find the source of the damp in the basement? thanks
Oh my word, you are a hard worker Nate, it makes me crazy how meticulous you are haha. But did you look into spray foam? It is a miraculous vapor barrier and mold retardant. The best part about it is that it is literally done in 30 minutes.
I would think using a sealer would be a better idea, that's what we did in ours and no problem with mold and a dehumidifier, your neighbor in Kentucky
Getting it done! Keep it up!
Thank you for pushing content to us even though you get all our hair brained ideas to wade through.
Don't burn out now
Hey as a pest control

Cool I’m here first! Lol hope all is well with the animals. Have a blessed day 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👩🏻🌾💕
Hello Debbie
Wow! You are such a hard worker. Good Job!
Thank you! 😊
Plastic will cause more mold there is a that u can paint the wall for mold check into
That sheep said "Nate!"
Hello Denise
You are doing a great job on hanging the plastic Nate. It really does make it look clean and tidy. Your pigs have done a great job clearing that space, where will you put them next? Thanks for sharing and please keep hydrated. Have a Blessed day.
Yes they do, we will keep moving them along the front of the property.
Doing great guys! Thanks 👋❤️🙏
I was surprised you were using plastic because I thought it created moisture but I don’t have any experience in doing what you are doing.
Seems adding plastic will just cause more mold eventually. Couldn't you just keep it dry with fans and dehumidifier? Plastic doesn't work longterm I don't think.
Yes I would think so too. But maybe it will be trapped behind the plastic?
That’s what I though.
Get a big dehumidifier!
These guys do their research! …
@@pattyarpaia4887 yes I know, they are allways very careful. I‘m sure they have good reasons. I was just thinking out loud!
Yes, I saw other companies doing it that same way to fix mold in crawl spaces. And yes, they do their research before they do anything. Which I love, by the way!! Just love them and their vlogs.

Where is the second video? How is the crawl space encap holding up?
Paint those concrete blocks with sealant before you shut it up. Better now than have to redo it down the road.
Hello sue
Y aren't u waiting till fall to do this??? Must use respirator.... I sprayed bentonite along outside of blocks....
👍👍❤️
I saw 90% hu and was like ugh is there a de-hu going in? Can encapsulate w/o taking out the humidity
I was wondering...if you paint some Kilz on the walls, wouldn't that take care of the mold issue?? Your homestead is looking great.
👍
Try putting your drill on hammer mode.
for your pigs. you should make a trough, put the food in it and start adding leftover veggies and fruit. they will eat all kinds of crap. over cook once your garden is up and running. with pigs eating stuff they find in the woods they aren't gonna get all the nutrients they need. also the more they eat the faster they will grow and be ready to process into meat.
They get pellets, food scraps, and whatever they forage. They are well fed :)
They sell "water proof sealant" type of roll on thick paint. IT'S NOT PAINT so it
can't be sprayed on bcos it's way to thick. Won't that keep the moisture out of the bricks?

Simple life reclaimed used it on their block foundation seem to be good I hope it works for you👍🇨🇦👍
Can’t you use kilz mold and mildew sealer on smooth concrete
There should be a plastic sealer you can paint on.
Dri lock, out vent and a dehumidifier would be a better solution. Plastic just keeps moisture in. Not sure why you're doing this?
Do you always feed them pig on the ground I never did with my pigs
That's what I said. Just put the food in a bowl.
They fought when we used a bowl...even when we put it in multiple bowls. This encourages them to root where we want them to and they do spat over the food anymore.
I would think being clean shaven and short hair would have many advantages for hot humid weather and nasty jobs. You do you just wondering
How is your rider lawn mower doing? Does the battery last long enough to cut your lawn, does it cut good.? How long a charge does battery have?
Hello carol
The mower is still working great. Battery usage varies on speed settings and also if you are mowing constantly. We can mow for close to two hours without needing a charge. We will look to make an update video on the mower and what we like/dis-like about it.
If you sanded the wood...and varnished it...I know...it's a bit much to do for a crawlspace...wouldn't that stop the mould full stop??
Why did you not waterseal the block ?
Must cost a lot in gas to keep running the truck for the dogs! Wouldn't it be easier and more comfortable for them to stay in the RV?
Could have saved time by using zapp tape instead of drilling holes for fasteners.
Wouldn't sealer work better on the bricks
Not filming of course but, less clothes gotta be better!!
City folks do it, 😄I'm sure off grinders do to.
Just know when to quit, humidity is nasty.
How about putting concrete on the floor.
It is a possibility for sure but more time and money.
why not paint your walls with water proofing paint
It seems like you won't get the full value of the pig food when you sprinkle it all over the ground areas....why not just put it in a couple of plastic buckets/trays??? Have really checked out professional advice for your desires in the crawl space???
Yes, we had four different companies that specializes in this the of work and also 2 inspectors who looked and offered advice.
i see you not make holes to let air in and out and the last thing you need do on is not put platic on the wlls leave so air can get to the walls placte only make water ik your a fool doing that put black on walls not that you never get rid of damp till you vent tour seller make holes in wall so air can enter in abd out use fans
Too much talk
I think you should put the pig's food in a bowl. Please Nate, stop throwing it on the dirt.
Why? Pigs route around in the dirt and have been clearing the areas they are in. That's what they do. Why use a bowl? They're just going to tip over anyway.
Right!? It encourages them to root in the areas we want them to.
