      He probably don’t like the smell of fish sauce. However, Thais won’t use soy sauce because it changes the taste and smell. Our tradition, when we cook the food, the smell will tell that we cook it in the right way and has good taste.

    First of all when you make the roasted Rice powder. Make it a little darker and when the rice turned yellow at the slice lemon grass, And some Kiffir lime leaves is best best.
    The traditional way we grill the pork or beef then slice or chop them to ground.
    When the meets cool down then we add the seasoning
    Stirfry vegetable in line to us in the mail it’s not Larb.
    Peanut was never used in Larb.
    Lime skin
    never use in larb as well
    Soy Sauce is not for Larb, it’s for story Fry !!!
    Sorry I have to tell you that this is a big “ NO” for this recipe.

    Looks like you’re cooking techniques and knife skills have improved greatly. Just a tip, instead of lifting a heavy board to drop things off into the the pan, just pull the board towards the edge of the island, grab ur pan and scrape the ingredients into your pan with the knife, then put the pan back on the stove

    It is not pronounced the way its spelled. It is pronounced "Lapp". I like using grilled steak. Never had grounded beef. But kudos.

  • @johnjames5518
    @johnjames5518 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yep any rice can be used not just sticky rice. My favorite is browning sesame seeds they have a better roasted flavor than any others! Don't forget the fish sauce and leave out the soy it's kinda overpowering. Cool the dish down some before adding herbs which will wilt from the heat!

  • @lcfatima
    @lcfatima 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Oh no, Eitan! You got this one totally wrong. You must toast glutinous rice (also called sticky or sweet rice), not jasmine. Add the herbs raw, do not cook them. Add the lime juice with the heat off as well. NO SOY SAUCE, add FISH SAUCE (Red Boat brand has a kosher hechsher and is high quality). Break the meat down more and don't leave it in big chunks. Finally, "larb" is an unfortunate old British origin spelling that we use in the US, but imagine Englishmen saying that word with no R...it's LAAP not larrrb. You should try fine-tuning this recipe again after watching some Thai and Lao TH-cam chefs and figuring out where you went wrong. Try to eat it with cooked sticky rice in salad wraps full of fresh herbs. You won't regret it. It really is a great dish when done right.

    It looks delicious. Chicken larb is also good for healthy diet.
    It is interesting that you use soy sauce and fresh garlic. We usually use fish sauce and garlic pickle juice. You may try this original recipe.
    We don’t use fresh garlic and soy sauce because it will taste different; salty taste from soy sauce is much different from Thai fish sauce. (We don’t put Vietnamese fish sauce in Thai food because it has too strong smell of raw fish.)

    The toasted rice is sticky rice, not jasmine rice. No soy sauce is used in the original dish...

    Ok first thing first i applaud you for loving this dish BUT here's some tips:
    Greens:
    1. Cut your onions very thin
    2. Chop up your cilantros like you did with the green onions.
    3. Pluck your mints
    4. Get lemon grass and chop/blend very small or slice very thin. (Lots)
    5. Instead of lemon skin, get lemon leaf and slice very thin.
    6. Chop your peppers like you did.
    Meat:
    1. Break up your meat more, they're to thick.
    2. Either grounded or thin sliced meat because people prefer it easier to chew.
    Sauces: (Bitter or sour dish)
    Bitter;
    1. Salt, fish sauce & beef bile
    Sour;
    1. Salt, fish sauce & lime
    !!NO SOY SAUCE!! 🤮🤮🤮
    How to properly make it in order:
    (P.S. If your cooking your meat please cook it by itself and not add everything else. You literally kill the whole purpose and taste of this dish by pan cooking all the ingredients!)
    After you finish cooking your meat or prefer it raw put it in a big bowl.
    1. Add your fried rice powder FIRST then stir.
    2. Then add your chopped/sliced lemon grass and peppers then stir.
    3. After stirring If you prefer SOUR then add your sauces I've listed above to your liking. Same goes for BITTER. Then stir again. (Do NOT MIX bitter and sour together or you will throw your food away.)
    4. Once you made the flavor to your liking, now add all your greens and slightly stir where it's all spread out.
    Your dish should have fresh greens not all mushed in or cooked. And that's how you make REAL LARB. Hope you and anyone that reads this follow these steps to making good larb.

    • @alkasachdev4196
      @alkasachdev4196 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. I totally agree. Please do not cook all the ingredients.... only the meat. NEVER cook lime! Unless there’s a specific reason to do so.

    • @level__level
      @level__level 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alkasachdev4196 i feel offended by this video because it takes a lot of tries and sometimes long to make really good larb without messing it up the first time and here he is making it look easy and so delicious when in reality i would throw his food away the way he made it. Especially putting soy sauce??!! Like wtf that shit kills the taste! 🤮🤮

  • @jerikanguyen8627
    @jerikanguyen8627 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is not larb. This is also not how you pronounce larb. Please research more & speak to Thai/Lao people before you post something like this. Like some of the other comments say, use fish sauce, not soy sauce. :) The beef is also meatball-esque; you’ll want to break it down into much smaller pieces next time. You don’t need to cook all the veggies in the pan; it’s a fresh salad.

    Yes, what is this LARB?? I'd appreciate it if he didn't present this dish as the Thai dish larb. A little research and you'll know this is pronounced laap. If you're going to cook and present a dish from a different culture, be respectful and try to be authentic. It at the very least, let your viewers know what ingredients are normally used. No peanuts, use Birdseye chili, sticky rice (not Jasmine) that's browned more, use fish sauce- not soy sauce.
    If you go into a Thai or Lao restaurant and ordered laap (or a he says larb), I guarantee that it will taste nothing like what he made.
