Can we talk about how she just casually mentions the khantoke, like the one that she is using is no big deal? That thing is fit for a palace, and I have no idea where a peasant such as myself could find such a masterpiece.

i’m from northern of thailand, and i’m so happy and proud that miss hong have presented “laab kua” in this video cuz most foreigners who know this menu only knew the isaan-style one, which is okay, but in my opinion, the northern-style laab is the supreme one 😂

Just want to explain a bit. This Laab is from northern Thailand and it’s totally different from I-saan’s(northeastern) Laab which is also a regional dish too. Even in Thailand, I-saan’s Laab is regarded as more commonly known because of the number internal migrants from I-saan to Bangkok. Plz note that Central region doesn’t have a dish like northern or northeastern Laab. 😊

I was following this ch and this clip would be the most of my favourite. The north Thai's food may not spicy like E-san(northern) of another region of Thailand, but charmed with natural taste combination.
LAAB is the one of famous and historic food of the North. In the past, we didn't eat Laab often because its must be exchanged for the life of one large animal (buffalo meat, but nowadays we always use pork) and use a many ingredients also a lot of process to make a dish. So, Laab is food that can be eaten when there is a ritual or event that has a large gathering of people.
In this video, it's not an original process to make Laab but it's easy way to get this dish in 30 minute and by two hands. If anyone have been visiting Chiangmai, I suggest Laab Loong Gan (ลาบลุงแก่น) - my favourite Laab shop there are making original taste of the North Laab and you can try buffalo meat Laab.
