I discovered these incredible ladies a few days ang and I haven't been this excited about a band since I discovered Nightwish. I know what I'm going to be doing during my Christmas break this year, binge watching, listening to everything they have ever done.

This is the second song of the concert, drummer Haruna performed the entire 105 minute concert with big smile. Haruna seems to have endless energy, standing barely 4' 9", she is literally a pocket nuclear reactor.

Another great all female metal band is Nemophila. You should check out their song Oiran. If you like Lovebites you should also love Nemophila.
Their covers are also very good.
Of all of the Nemophila songs, I vouch for Oiran too as a great way to start and showcase Mayu's vocals. And then they can ease into Nemophila's covers.

Are you guys South Africans? I am a Saffa living in Japan 🗾 and I was lucky enough to see them live in Osaka in 2019. They were absolutely incredible. One of the best live bands I have ever seen. The all women rock and metal band scene in Japan is on fire 🔥🔥🔥 these days.
Yes we are South Africans. We haven't been to Japan yet but definitely one of the countries that we love and on our bucket list to visit. We love their culture and the way they do things. Think a lot of countries can learn from them.

Hello there thank you for your reaction, nice. Yeah you just sow the winners of 2018 in category for best new metal band. Lovebites are formed 2016 from ex Destrose band members Miho the bassist and composer ( she is the band leader) and Haruna the drummer ( best female power metal drummer in the world at the moment she is 4.9 high) the other members are Asami the vocalist and songwriter ( she was R&b and jazz singer before to join the band) Midori the lead guitarist and backing vocals with the blonde hair ( one of the fastest female guitarists in the world at the moment she is a demon on the guitar) and Miyako the other lead guitarist, pianist and composer ( she is the main composer of the band). Lovebites are the best all female power metal band in the world at the moment. Their last album Electric pentagram was nominated for one of the best 20 metal albums for 2020 year. They are influenced by 80s metal. Miho the bassist mentioned once in interview- we are here to make something memorable. They want to step closer to their inspiration bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Halloween, Metallica and Slayer. Guys you just open the pandora box. Also if you sow they play on the high heels. Believe me it's real ( you mentioned have to see them live) i know by my self I already sow them twice in Wacken Germany 2018 and UK 2019 year. Lovebites always are with high heels on the stage, or on the video clips. They like to touring in Europe. Even Miho said before if she move from Japan some day the place which she preferred to live is London UK. Guys if you want to see more action from them just check the song Rise some hell. FUN FACT about Haruna, the drummer: She is only 149cm and holds the end of the sticks inside her palms to get the right punch, therefore she also uses special drummer gloves that provide a better grip. She is a monster behind those drums. I love her :)
She is actually shorter than that, I have heard both 1.45 and 1.46 and in ancient overseas measures she is said to be 4'9.

Hi, glad you took the Lovebites suggestion, however you ain't seen nuthing yet. I am surprised that you are both surprised that an all female band can be as good as Lovebites. I first heard them in 2017 after their first gigs and realized back then that they were world beaters and as good as, if not better than, many male bands. All members of Lovebites are insamely talented musicians at the top of their game. and while looking like supermodels on the catwalk, Lovebites' members (except Haruna the drummer) perform a full 90 minute plus set, playing their instruments, moving around the stage, headbanging and changing the pedals on their effects boards while wearing four inch high heels and do not even break sweat. They are definitely the real deal. I recommend 'Break the Wall', 'Edge of the World', 'We the United'' 'Swan Song'from the Zepp Diver City, Tokyo concert in 2020 and 'Epilogue', 'Scream for Me and 'Above the Black Sea'' from the Daughters of the Dawn conceert recorded in Tokyo in 2019 'for starters. You can't go wrong with anything from these two concerts. You should also check out another all female Japanese metal band called NEMOPHILA - I recommend 'RAITEI', 'SORAI' or OIRAN.

Japan rock/metal scene is like a cesspool with awesome talent that some of them eclipsing other western bands to shame. They said rock is dead but not in Japan though, they still carry the torch on their own.

Same. As an old Helloween fan "Eagle Fly Free" made me curious and "When Destinies Allign" made me addicted to Lovebites. Immediately bought all of their studio cd and two dvds... best addiction ever.
@@jenspfennig9226 After ""eagle" got me interested, I checked out what they had to offer live. Started off with "The Hammer of Wrath" and realized it's been at least 15 years since I got this excited about discovering a new band.
Prior to the covid shutdown Lovebites were touring in Europe with Dragon Force. All 5 of them are quite petite, so they always wear white because Meta stages are usually dark to be seen. Miho (bass) with Haruna (drums) formed the band after Destrose went dormant. They recruited Modori and Miyako as the guitarists and finally Asami (vocalist) who's background was R&B and Soul. If you did not notice the lyrics are in English, Asmai lived in the US in her teens and she is the prime lyricist. Miyako is the prime composer and she has a TH-cam channel you should check out!
As to your next reaction; checkout Swan Song. It has a bit of a surprise in it.

We’re pretty petite girls and if we wore black we’d probably disappear into the background! We figured that if we wore white outfits the stage lights would reflect off of them and give us a stronger stage presence.

(You can find them at Dragonforce's youtube channel) 😂😂 There is also one with Dragonforce playing "My Heart Will Go On" from Celine Dion with Lovebites doing backing vocals and having fun on stage. Yeah, I too am in awe of how casual the drummer seems to be when playing. The whole band is ridiculous talented! I just picked up this band recently on the recommendation from a friend and I picked up one of their albums from a local CD store (yes, there's one left) and I make sure the neighbors listen to it too.
Lovebites and Band-Maid are the two best female bands on earth with both their own style. You should listening to more of their stuff.
If you add Nemophila to that, then you get the holy trinity.

I understand this is currently the most viewed Lovebites reaction video on TH-cam! It’s more than deserved because you understand how hard it is to make that level of live recording and what level musicians need to be to be able to do that.

If you are referring to the Somewhere in Time album, by Iron Maiden. They are not that good yet.But they are getting there

Could maiden do this?Even though artists obviously have better technique that have been learning in the last 20 years as it so much easier to learn than instrument to an expert level now, with all the tools online, whereas back in the day the good only copy their heroes, but I Would Say that there are exceptions that the top end and , all 3 guitarists maiden, with their extra experience of playing in different genres, including jazz and blues, over the years are as good as the lovebites girls - but they only shred to the same extent, SOMETIMES, because they are less excitable at this stage in their careers and choose what they want to play.However, at the same age I would take the lovebites girls, although Dave Murray was on their level shred wise and Adrian Smith is superior in tasteful composition and probably didn't shred to the same level at that age, but definitely can now, with his experience of so many different genres over the years - check out Adrian Smith's riffs and solos playing "Alexander the great" In Norway on TH-cam - sublime, so much technical capability in so many different genres and at 65 years old
Right now maiden playing the SIT tour and guitar work on that album, in particular, is similar to the shred that love bites play, although some of the other albums, they always tended to be more creative and tasteful in their composition of guitar versus bass work, rather than going for pure shred.In fact, this is something that Miho modelled lovebites music on, because she wanted to be more tasteful and melodic rather than pure power metal shred, which she says is overrated and is far more easy to replicate, than producing tasteful material.It is largely because of Miho that their 1st few albums were so tasteful as well as technically accomplished, pretty much in the same vein as, maiden and Helloween to a slightly lesser extent, but generally with more shredding, which would be maybe something more introduced by the guitar girls - because Miho says that "too much" focus is put on technical appearance, in the Japanese market and not enough on the tastefulness, songs fit and the theatre aspect of Western acts, who created the sub genres love bite play, in the 1st place, e.g., deep purple >Judas Priest >by an maiden >Metallica >Megadeth.It remains to be seen if, with Miho gone, lovebites continue to be tasteful, or end up being too guitar heavy and fade into obscurity in the vein of acts which are to progressive such as "dream theatre" - if you only want to reach a limited audience
*Because lovebites, bandmaid and Nemophila's music is so refreshing and it's been a while, we forget how brilliant the new wave of British only metal music was back in the day. If you check out the current SIT tour, Murray's solos on "caught somewhere in time" and "Alexander the great.", They are fluid in the same way as any lovebites solos and he is a shredder in the same vein.Adrian Smith, however, in my opinion, is the most tasteful, creative and best compositional guitarist in history of heavy rock and heavy metal - He constructs solos with the mood of the song in mind, and only shreds when it's necessary - the most tasteful solos in history, incorporating , jazz, blues, rock, fusion, and the metal, and even power and thrash metal (eg: Sea of Madness and back in the village). Then if you want to see his technical capability, he did a fusion, rock, collaboration album with Richie Kotzen and guitar work on that is not only more eclectic, but equally as technical to lovebites (check out Smith/Kotzen debut album, or live performances last year )

Haruna on drums is only 4'9" tall and is an absolute thunder machine, she is the co-founder with Miho the Bass player, they were originally together in Dextrose who themselves were a top all female band and they formed LOVEBITES in 2016 after Dextrose broke up. They invited Asami who was an R&B/Soul/Jazz singer and Midori(ESP guitar) who had been playing in 1 or 2 other metal/J-rock bands and finally Miyako(Dean guitar)who started as back up guitar/singer, but who is now a full member and writes 80% of their songs. Both Midori & Miyako only took the guitar up at ages 20 & 18 respectively after previously being keys/electric piano and classically trained pianist, also respectively. It's quite astonishing how good they are and how much better & better they have become since hitting the road in 2017. I actually saw them perform live here in the UK when they were on tour with Dragonforce in 2019. Your great and natural reaction sums up exactly how I felt when I first saw/heard them. They are quite versatile and switch in and out with Heavy/Power/Thrash metal vibes and include some great ballads with Miyako playing piano or electric piano during the song. This 2 in 1 track that finished off this concert shows that versatility with Miyako playing acoustic, lead guitars and electric piano all in the one song.

Re: your query about the gear the two guitartists use: Miyako (guitarist with black hair) does play a Dean USA Icon with Fishman pick-ups and uses a Peavery 6505 Plus amp head with an Orange PPC212 OB Vintage 30 cab. She also plays a Dean ML like Dimebag Darrell and her own Signature Dean V with Fishman pick-ups and a Floyd Rose trem.Miyako is always experimenting to try to get a heavier sound. Midori (guitarist with blond hair) plays ESP E-11s and uses a Kemper Power Rack and Marshalls. By the way, Miyako (black hair/Dean) has played piano for twenty-seven of her thirty years and she plays to concert level standard. The piano is her first instrument and the guitar, her second. In a recent videod concert she put down her Dean and sat down at a grand piano and played a Chopin Etude before immediately straping on her Dean again and rocking out for the rest of set.. Both guitarists leant to play relatively recently, Midori started when she was twenty and attended obe of Japan leading music schools and Mikako started teaching herself herself guitar at eighteen when she was at university.

Early last year I discovered Band Maid, Lovebites and more Japanese rock bands with different styles (for example, Versailles, kinda neoclassical heavy metal) like Galneryus, Ningen Isu, Unlucky Morpheus, Nemophila, D_Drive, Mary’s blood, Asterism, etc., and I’m still in owe. By the way, Japanese female musicians are very skillful (Nemophila, Asterism and Show Ya are an example of this)

Thank you for reacting earlier than planned. They are amazing. The guitarist at the right, Miyako, is even a better pianist. All 3 guitarists, Miyako , Midori and Miho are perfect. The drummer Haruna is a beast on the drums. The vocalist, Asami, is very special. This all makes the band unique. All songs are good, especially the live ones from the Japanese concerts.

The best way I can think of to describe their style, Is, They are Heavy Metal Opra. The talent level coming from these all female Japanese bands today. Is INSANELY GOOD.
Watching first time listeners to any Lovebites song has become a hobby. I love the reactions. At first, you see these beautiful ladies, all dressed up like there are going to a party. Then the music starts and BAM!!! They punch you right in the face with their blistering metal. Soon you come to realize they are all master musicians with an amazing singer. Eventually, you will listen to another one of their songs and by the time that song ends, you are deep in the rabbit hole and you are stuck in the world of Lovebites. I got into them about a year ago and haven't stopped listening. Any song you pick is a winner. But the ones I like to suggest to new listeners are Thunder Vengence, Break The Wall, The Crusade, and what I think is a masterpiece, Edge of the World. Also, for a guitar clinic, Listen to Scream For Me. Go with the live versions. Regarding the drummer, she is only 4'9" but as you heard/saw, she is a giant behind the kit.
You guys are going to love this journey!! With Lovebites and Band Maid, you don't need much else in the way of music!! Well, maybe a little Dreamcatcher for a twist of pop.

I absolutely second Nemophila ‘Oiran’ though I’d characterize them as a bit more melodic death than punk. All great musicians in all these bands.
I only discovered Lovebites and Band-Maid two weeks ago. I encourage you to just go down the rabbit hole of all-girl Japanese metal bands because you will NOT be disappointed.
