When he snaps END OF SUBJECT sounds like a kid too. His young self really comes through when dealing with family. The depth of the character is unmatched.
Even better when he trolls Janice to undermine her (probably bullshit) attempt at anger management, then strolls out smiling about it. A lot of my favourite scenes are the ones where there's nothing much going on, but you can see the characters getting bumping up against one another over some petty slight, or simmering resentment.
Jim Gandolfini's performance was beyond the limits of alot of actors. So many actors can't do frustration without making you feel awkward because they don't care to do their role while also making people laugh. It's all about heart and if you are just acting funny like all the hack comedians or just acting caring like Mark Wahlburg, Tom Cruise or any other famous psycho then you can piss off. Superficial wasn't a key ingredient in him like it is in so many.

I was rewatching the Sopranos, and actually in the very first episode, Tony when introducing Uncle Junior, mentions that he loves him but he always told his girl cousins that he didn't have the makings of a varsity athlete and that was very hurtful. Funny that 4 or 5 seasons later, they actually make it a major plot point and an iconic Sopranos scene lol.
