Killer work from the writers and actor in portraying high society pompousness so well via the character of Russ Fegoli. So unlikable, and you just know he doesn't actual do anything positive for society, just kisses ass and plays the prestige game.
At some point, that's what happens when a couple has been together for so long that they just sort of live with each other & deal with each other because even if it's horrible, it's familiar & it's still preferable to being alone or starting over. But I bet he felt a little jealous every time one of the wives would lose one of their spouses & I also bet that Mary outlives him because of course she would.

No show will ever encapsulate mundane family life and its problems like the Sopranos so beautifully and effortlessly does. Its depictions of mother in laws, children during pre teen and teen years as well as college years and a handful of other situations, is so realistic its second to none as far as tv dramas go.

Carmella's mother loved to deride the family with her obstinate rebukes at the family, especially poor, insufferable Hugh. I can't stand the way she talked.
