But in a book, they just need to describe the expressions and mannerisms to you, and your mind fills the blanks.

DeMeo was the "old man" in Springfield. They talk about it in the early episodes, or maybe just in the pilot. But then David Chase just dropped the whole back story and it was ignored as if it never happened. You might have noticed at some point the news reporter referred to Junior Soprano as the boss of the family that bears his name. But in the pilot it was DEFINITELY the DeMeo crime family. I never liked that Switcheroo from David Chase. Yes, it was a brilliant series with excellent writing, directing and acting. But still, he blew up the show's continuity almost from the beginning.
Capo Tony is much less egotistical and is more logical it would be interesting to see The Sopranos from the main point of view of a well-respected Capo (I mean junior wasnt much of an actual boss for long, he was TERRIBLE in such a short time)

DeMeo was the "old man" in Springfield. They talk about it in the early episodes, or maybe just in the pilot. But then David Chase just dropped the whole back story and it was ignored as if it never happened. You might have noticed at some point the news reporter referred to Junior Soprano as the boss of the family that bears his name. But in the pilot it was DEFINITELY the DeMeo crime family.
I never liked that Switcheroo from David Chase. Yes, it was a brilliant series with excellent writing, directing and acting. But still, he blew up the show's continuity almost from the beginning.
