- This is a happy story - I promise! I created this video for my digital video editing class. The assignment was to create a video about an environmental cause or social cause. I was tired of seeing sad and depressing ASPCA commercials - especially the one with Sarah McLachlan! So I created this video in a positive tone so that my audience would be more likely to watch it through and not look away, in hopes that they would consider adopting a pet from a shelter! Thank you for sharing your video story of Lucy and Sally. I lost my two Longhair Dachshunds, Charlie and Linus, after 19 years. My heart is still broken, but your video restores my Love for them. Daschunds are unique in so many heartwarming ways.
thank you for showing the positive side of adoption - my dog was rescued in Cyprus and I flew him to the UK where he is a much loved member of the family - please adopt a rescue dog instead of paying a breeder!

Bless you for the courage to go into a no kill shelter, endure the sadness from seeing far too many dogs left behind becsuse of irresponsible people or tough circumstances. My second Cavalier is a rescue dog. I will only adopt from shelters from now on.

I love to see a happy ending for all! I have my second rescue. She was very timid at first. It took a couple of weeks for her to let me near her, and I wondered what I had gotten myself into! She is the greatest dog now. ( Watching Ceasar Milan's shows helped. I don't agree with everything he does; but I am now owned by better behaved dogs)!
This is a perfect fit for my Awesome Animals Safe & Loved playlist. Animal breeders are a disease, actually, and need to be stopped, and that includes "farm" animals used as food, etc. Thank you for saving those 2 sisters and keeping them together, and I hope the little shaggy dogs at 0:55 are just as loved and doing great too.

Thank you for opening your hearts♥️ and home to these incredible little beings! They are such an emotional, sensitive breed that long and thrive for the love♥️of their people! I SO miss my beloved Scooter(a red dachshund too) I don't feel complete anymore😓
❇️They love♥️ that laser pointer I see. That's great exercise for them but just a word of⚠️caution... While running around the house is great and fine, you may not want to use it on the stairs.
❇️❇️❇️These little guys are SO prone to back issues because of their LOOONG backs! I wouldn't let my Doxie🐕 jump off the bed, I'd put a step🗃️ by the bedside so he would take it in steps or go up and down stairs, he would wait either at the top and whine till I came to scoop him up, or wait at the bottom of the stairs for me to carry him up, or down or even jump for toys⚽ or treats🌭🍧. I was terrified that he'd hurt his back!!! ✳️There have been SO many pups that have been paralyzed♿ from even jumping off the couch!
I hope🙏you don't think I'm preaching or an expert on doxies, I'm not! Your babies are PRECIOUS❤️and I KNOW you wouldn't want ANYTHING bad to happen to them!!!

🐾I have a story about this very thing! My dachshund Scooter ADORED me and I him!!! HOWEVER, I took a vacation with my cousin who brought her dog to Vermont🏔️she is an animal lover and a bit CRAZY😵 too! Well... she's so nuts🥜 that she let my Scooter eat food🍔 out of her mouth👄! (I had never done that and thought it was a bit DISGUSTING) BUT SCOOTER LOVED IT! And I think it created some kind of animal bond by her doing that. Scooter would follow her EVERYWHERE she went and when it was time for bed, Scooter wanted to SLEEP WITH HER!!! MY HEART💔BROKE INTO A THOUSAND💞PIECES!!!
I DON'T think I was EVER as HEART BROKEN IN MY LIFE, SERIOUSLY IT KILLED ME! WELL Guess what I did to make him love me just as much/more than he loved her...
YEP! I LET SCOOTER EAT FOOD OUT OF MY MOUTH!

Oh please don't allow doxies to run up and down stairs, they are prone to back injuries and should not be running up and down or jumping down.

🐾My brother bought his Dachshund🐕 in 2003 for $2000.00! Well...
he asked me to babysit his newborn for the week, so I said why don't you bring "Scooter" too?
When the week ended, I was RELIEVED to hand over my niece! (she was a crier!) My bro packed up the baby and yelled for Scooter to follow. Scooter went under my robe to hide. I guess he thought "if he can't see me then I don't have to go". They left and when my door closed, from out of the blue, TEARS💦STARTED FLOWING DOWN MY CHEEKS!!! I was so embarrassed and heartbroken💔! I couldn't get that little Doxie out of my 💓 heart!
Two days later my brother calls me and says "LISTEN TO THIS"📣! he held the phone📞 out and I hear howling and moaning! He said do you hear that! I honestly thought I did something to harm Scooter! My brother said for the last two days Scooter hasn't eaten, drank any water and has been sitting at the front door WAILING!!! I said "WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIM JOHN"??? He said, "HE WANTS YOU, SO COME GET HIM"!!! I told him I'd be right over to get him, I think I had pjs on. I pulled up to the house and the door OPENED! Scooter ran for me SCREAMING AND HOWLING! It sounded like he was being slaughtered! Lol!
I scooped him up and he continued to scream and cry in disbelief that it was REALLY me! It took approx a half hour or so to calm him down! When all was quiet, my brother said to me, "I'll NEVER introduce you to another dog of mine AND YOU OWE ME $2000.000"!!! I said, " ANYTHING YOU WANT JOHN"! he wasn't serious about the money tho thank goodness!
And that was the START of my life and heart being whole and the GREATEST❤️LOVE STORY!!! he literally was the LOVE OF MY LIFE! My husband even knew he was second and didn't mind at ALL! He also LOVED this INCREDIBLE LITTLE BEING!!! Scooter had a heart murmur and it got bad! He actually had his own CARDIOLOGIST and the BEST of care! My poor husband spent $10,000.00 in med bills the last three months of his life and he wasn't upset at ALL! EVERYONE LOVED THIS LITTLE AMAZING CREATURE! He was the MOST empathetic and wore his failing heart on his sleeve. If there was an animal that needed a friend, he always went to their aid to comfort them. A family would call the house to ask for Scooter to spend time with their brain damaged brother who Scooter had met and knew something was wrong with him and WOULDN'T LEAVE HIS SIDE! So Scooter had his obligations and was more than willing to help someone or something that needed companionship and love! He was even allowed to run free at my pharmacy! He would run behind the pharmacy counter and find cookies that they always had for him. A woman came in and complained to the manager that she was allergic and Scooter should be removed. The mgr told her to find another pharmacy!!! I couldn't believe he said that to her!!! I told him that wasn't right, he said he didn't care and that dog will stay before she would!!!
Well...
My Sweet Sweet Scooter died at the feet of my husband at 11AM while I was at work. I think he did it purposely so I wouldn't have to see this. Even tho my husband kinda knew Scooter was gone he tried resuscitating him and raced to the emergency vet doing over 💯 miles an hour all the while trying to revive Scooter on his lap! I WASN'T TOLD A THING WHILE I WAS WORKING! And after work I went Christmas shopping for him, buying toys, treats and sweaters for him while my husband kept texting asking when I'd be home. Finally I walked to the house, I never opened the door cause when Scooter knew I was coming home, he'd look out the window or wait by the door listening for my car. I didn't hear ANYTHING! QUIET! ???? So I went to open the door and my husband opened it, I looked down real quick for Scooter, I HEARD/SAW NOTHING! I looked up at my husband and HIS EYES SAID IT ALL!!!
I DROPPED to my knees WAILED AND SCREAMED just like the time Scooter did on my Bros lawn years before!
We went to the vet and picked him up, while hubby spent hours digging his grave. I sat for five hours holding and rocking my Sweet Sweet Scooter, he was SOAKED and SATURATED with my tears! I dressed him in the new warm sweater I just bought him, closed his coffin and we lowered him down. That was over three years ago and my husband made this lantern like thing so a candle could burn thru wind🌬️, rain☔, snow❄️etc. The candles🕯️ have been🔥burning for *1,275 hours non stop! MY HEART💔 HAS BEEN SO BROKEN EVER SINCE!!!
GEEZ! I'm SORRY for this long testament, I hope I didn't bore you with my story, it just felt CATHARTIC finally getting all that out!

Love the story but get maddened reading the blog about 'surrendered by a breeder who went out of business'. Breeders are one step away Puppy Mills. It's hard to tell the difference. Whilst they should certainly go after puppy mills first the scum commonly known as 'dog breeders' need to be held accountable for every extra unwanted dog they bring into this world.
