    I have a Godin ACS nylon, that is ideal for use with my Roland GR33 guitar synth. However, I was very unhappy with all the quack I was getting played as an amplified acoustic. I normally use medium tension strings on my real classical's, but because this Godin had fairly low action, as well as strings very close to the edges of the fretboard, I put high tension strings on it. So I put medium tension Galli's on it last night hoping for the lower tension to create less quack, and it worked. I don't know if my experience is unique to my particular ACS but you might want to give it a try. In addition, it still plays fine while encouraging a light touch, that also promotes less quack.

      hi Richard, thanks for watching! I agree with you, all my classical guitars have high tension strings on them , to drive the top and bring out the tones of these guitars but my godin, ramirez, and other electric nylon accoustics I use medium tension for the exact reasons you have stated. I'm so glad you are making the effort to get the best tones as a lot of guitarists don't bother and blame the guitar..the godin is capable of beautiful tones both from my shertler and even from my katana. I take great care with my right hand to compensate for possible quacks as i'm sure you do...all the very best...andy.

      @@AndyDuffyGuitar I am just studying guitar (hobbies) and my ASC and was asking myself about the strings and thankful for these comments. The other thing is I do have an older (new to me) Roland synth and just got a Mac mini ... with hopes to record some of ideas (I think others would be able to play it better than I) ... but I was/am wondering if the sytiinhser and my ASC will trigger garage band models ... for recording.. and/or it may be best to add touches from the synth itself. My goal would be to add a little here and there and keep mostly the acoustic as the main music. So I will be looking for mediums ... Ramirez?

    Followed most of this except “bass and middle at 3/4” and treble at 12 o’clock. Mixing metaphors? Not sure what either of those mean

      That’s where the sliders are on the eq on the instrument. 12 o clock is middle

    Sorry, but you’re backwards about your treble and bass. Godin says the sliders from top to bottom as you are playing is;
    Volume
    Treble
    Middle
    Bass
    Synth blend

      thanks for watching my friend and for your kind comments. I use either d'addario, ocean or tomastic. I fnd that it's fine to use normal tension strings on this guitar. thanks again...andy.

      Andy Duffy thank you Andy. Well, I might actually have a question: I have been playing steelstrings acoustic and electric guitars for many years, but a big and undiscovered part of me are more and more attracted to the more “nylon related music”, and I am actually looking in to buying an Godin, but not sure about the model. I just know that I dont need synth options, 2 inch nut is a bit to wide, and I need that is has some acoustic sound when not amplified. Not sure about the pick up systems, if I should go for the individual piezzos or the classical saddle. I have looked at the cheapest Nylon Encore, that has a Maple back/side. Do you have any ideas? And thanks a lot :-)

      @@goswo hi my friend! my guitar is the godin nylon SA... I've had it for many years and has been very reliable in all situations..although I've always played a lo tof classical guitar, I really like this model with the narrower finger board as I can explore pivot chords and the like, also it has a good accoustic tone even when not plugged in.. my other electric accoustic is my Ramirez with a full width fingerboard...adore this guitar....all the best, andy

      @AndyDuffyGuitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi Dan! thanks for watching...I have used my godin for many years and in many gigs...I have similiar nylon electro accoustics but the godin is by far the best and is the most reliable...you just have to spend a little time getting your tone right on the instrument....I have recently retired, so I hope to get into teaching again...watch this space.....thanks again for watching....andy

    • @AndyDuffyGuitar
      @AndyDuffyGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      hi David...thanks for watching...sometiimes hannabach or thomastic but to be honest with you,I always come back to d'addario.normal tension for playing,hard tension for recording.their quality and pitch is always constant and at a reasonable price...all the best.......andy.

    What is the high end amplifier you mention?

    • @AndyDuffyGuitar
      @AndyDuffyGuitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi Otto, thanks for watching! the amp I use the most for performing and recording is my schertler unico..it's always been very reliable in all situations and I just love the rich sounds from this amp..I realise that sound and tone is very subjective but the schertler does it all for me and has done for a long time..all the best....andy

    • @ThinkingCap_
      @ThinkingCap_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndyDuffyGuitar Thank you for the video and the response! I'll look into that amplifier.
      May I ask what kind of gear you'd suggest for a Godin nylon SA? I just got one today, want to start recording in my little apartment.

    • @AndyDuffyGuitar
      @AndyDuffyGuitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThinkingCap_ hi Otto! normally I'll go straight into the schertler or the boss katana 100... the techique you most have to cultivate on the sa is the control of the treble so you don't get any high end quack or harshness in the treble. it just takes a little contrlol withe position of the right hand...the guitar is capable of the most amazing tones..I love it and have had mine for years...sometimes if i'm playing with other musicians, i'll use a boss ad8 accoustic processor to boost certain tones but normally it's straight into the amp with a touch of reverb and carefully blend in the treble to get the best tones....wish you happy playing with a great guitar! andy

      @@AndyDuffyGuitar You rock! I've joined your notification gang :)
      Do you use the synth access at all? I feel like it's something I should probably invest in considering it's a feature of the Godin.
      Do you have any suggestions on a solid entry level synth?

    • @AndyDuffyGuitar
      @AndyDuffyGuitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThinkingCap_ hi Otto! the synth i use is the original roland g20 which plugs straight into the godin...i only use the strings settings...you can hear me use this on my videos such as prelude...cavatina and the theme from gladiator...hope this helps..all good wishes mate!.....andy
