Vincent has always been one of the very very few painters that keeps you on your toes with interest while listening to him. This episode was exceptional!
Vincent is a treasure. He's in a league of his own in so many aspects. I know it's unlikely but it would be incredible to have him on in some form of regular format. Thanks for a great pod Jeff!
So true-the feeling of working with our hands and solving problems really spoke to me. Now I understand why I enjoy woodworking , design as much as painting. It’s funny, I never realized that it’s the challenge of problem-solving that drive me
Thank you again for this episode. My head is spinning! So much respect for Vincent's courage, abilities and intelligence. I could listen to him for hours. Can't wait to get back to painting. Thank you, Thank you!
His reading and understanding of not taking things as face value but on a multiplicity of layers puts Vincent on a league of his own. I met him 20 years ago and struck me as a hard thinker and a very kind soul. His analysis of Warhol and the scream are spot on. I would love to hear his views on art and metaphysics, words of a sage that went to hell and back. Thank you for the episode.
I’ve seen easels which allow the painting to descend into a trench or room below, however this totally portable, two sided solution is a wonderful design! Most Excellent!
Very good to hear from a well-read deep thinker on any subject but even more so on art! I have listened to Vincent speak on turning form at LCAD Laguna and learned a lot.
This is such an amazing interview! Thank you, Jeff, for your humility, honesty and your incredible selection of artists. From a life-long problem solver.💙
Thank you so much for this Jeff. As a new watcher/listener I feel a new sense of inspiration from these long-form interviews. Hearing from young, insanely accomplished artists is great, but I enjoy hearing from equally accomplished artists like Vincent the most - someone who has been painting for years and still is inspired and joyous about the future.
Mind blowing! So much to process in 6 pages of notes I took. Craziest of all is that he imbued me with a new appreciation for the painting The Scream-a painting that frankly I haven't been able to look at since my mother passed away with cancer. Thank you Jeff! 🙏
Brilliant interview, so much useful inspiring knowledge shared by Vincent. I listened to the section on the chequerboard and scumbling glazing temp etc about 5 times. I've seen Michael John Angel describe and demonstrate it, it's incredibly effective. In your 'people mentioned', you might like to add Charles Lock Eastlake and Max Turner, whom Vincent refers to in this section of the conversation. Thank you Jeff. Finally got round to contributing via podbean, sorry it took so long. Not sure the podbean link in the shownotes is working? Here's to the day you can hire an editor and free up more time at that cool easel contraption!
(30 minutes in, checking the time length of this podcast) 😮😂 Great discussion thanks. I've often thought about lack of great public architecture and works in the capitalist modern day America compared to Europe and the past. A complex subject.
Made my day to see you had Vincent Desiderio on the show as he is one of my favoutite living artists. He and Jeffrey Larson might make an interesting pairing.
@theundrapedartist Nice.I thought i was subbed,i am now.I heard you speak of John Coleman before? The sculptor and western painter? He was on Tichsler's podcast. So good.Maybe you might be interested to speak to him sometime if he's willing.I only mention it because i heard you speak of him.The man's story is incredible.
LOL I unsubscribed from this podcast ages ago, but when I saw who the guest was, I had to give a listen, mostly to hear Jeff's little anti-modernist brain explode. Did not disappoint.
One of the greatest living painters!!

Mind blowing interview. I have to listen to this again - there is so much to absorb. Thanks Jeff 🙏

So true about problem solving being THE real activity.
Always a pleasure to listen to Vincent talk. Thanks for this,

Thank you. Thank you. This artist is a total giant and this was so fantastic. A conversation.
Damn. Ok going to have to rewatch this one That whole thing with the white on top of the glaze kind of blew my mind. Great episode 🙏

Thank you for sharing Vincent’s insight on his work, inspiration and his conceptual foundation for his paintings.
Looking forward to next episodes.
I truly enjoyed, appreciated your efforts to make this program.

Thank you. So sorry about your mom!
I noped out early on… I couldn’t get what he was talking about. So happy I came back to the full interview, and yes I will listen again. 👍
Great Job Jeff. Completely Inspiring.
I couldn't have expressed how I feel about the modern art market as well as Vincent in the closing statement. Hear Hear.
2:16:27, how do you even know what a chicken looks like😂😂😂

Saw one of this dudes books like 15 years ago and forgot his name. Been trying to find him ever since. Awesome!
Did anyone catch who the "curtain comes down..." quote is by?
Excellent interview. You both bring so much to the table. Also a huge fan of Vincent.
guy can rant as well as paint so entertaining,
Would you rather look at a Giotto or a Bouguereau? Great question and great interview. Thanks!
Odd coming soon?
Soon

An amazing interview. If I could recommend an artist to interview it would be Kerry James Marshall.
the grey technique Vincent mentions reminds me of Tom Keating's video on Titian. th-cam.com/video/I2HDOkhv07c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=i8BMxuTM11i0KVEm&t=844
fortunately the "art market " has nothing to do with art

Ya, I’m a total moron. Welcome back even for just one episode.
