Great reaction and analysis again . Many Indian reactors have commented how precise and correct the courography was right down to the head eyes and hand movement. Su vocals again, showing what she is capable of . Su could sing my shopping list to me, and I would still listen in amazement and awe 😁 🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。"Musical diversity" is what BABYMETAL are relentlessly pursuing. This song has been welcome by many people with Indian background. I am sure Team BABYMETAL is happy to see that. I can imagine how diligently the songwriter, choreographer, Su / Moa / Momoko, and Kamis tried to analyze, study and understand music and dance moves in Indian style. They took a risk of being called "fake" or "cheap copy" of Indian music whereas they simply wanted to create their own metal music with comfortable Indian vibes paying their due respect to the culture. I witnessed this very performance at the venue and gave great kudos to BM, as always.
I will be seeing them live in a little over a month with my wife, daughter and granddaughter. The venue holds 3000, with most being standing room on the floor. We will be in the relatively small balcony with a great view of BabyMetal and also the crowd. The show is sold out and has been for at least a week. That is probably the story for the entire North American tour - venues in the 2000 to 5000 capacity range and all sold out, or close to it.
Great reaction. As you know, Shanti is a Sanskrit word (Sanskrit is a written Indian language) meaning peace. Repeated three times it means peace in body, mind and spirit (or in thought, word and deed). 'Shanti Shanti Shanti' is not Middle Eastern, Egyptian or Arabic, it is very much Indian or Bollywood inspired from the sound (even a sitar in the intro through to the tamba(?) drums in another part) to the choreo (as confirmed by some very impressed Indian dancers who have also reacted to the song) and, as you were saying, the lyrics. I completely agree about Su-metal and her talents ... I'm glad Bollywood has not come in to steal her away since they lost Asha Bhosle who used to provide the vocals for so many of their movies. Moametal said how difficult it was to get the graceful hand movements right as they were so different to any of the hand movements she may have known growing up and dancing in Japan and they always want to be respectful and try to make their movements faithful to the musical style and culture of the song. I'm glad you watched a live performance - the video editor got far too carried away with the kaleidoscope effects in the official music video. With this live in particular (Legend MM was early March this year) you got to see the choreo. This song was from the Metal Galaxy (Light Side) album 2019 where they did explore musical styles from around the world. On the album released in 2023 there is another song that a lot of people (who also thought this one was Arabic or Middle Eastern) also mistake for being Indian ... that song is not Indian, if anything it is Middle Eastern / Arabic / Egyptian inspired Psy-Trance Metal. That song is called 'Metalizm'.
Another great reaction as expected. As far as I'm aware from watching reactions, most Indian people who hear this song love it. Many say it's in tune with and respectful to Indian culture, and many are happy they decided to do an Indian influenced song. They also compliment Su's vocals and are impressed with the dance moves and musical arrangement. I don't think I've seen a negative reaction. This song seems to have grown in popularity over the years; Metal Galaxy is an album full of sleeper hits. This is another song like Brand New Day and BxMxC, both written and arranged by Megmetal, who did most of the work on Metal Galaxy (wrote 5 songs and arranged 11); it's partly his album production wise.
this shows how great Babymetal is. they take a song of whatever they want and no matter what the original song is, they make it their own. being positive is typical Babymetal. also this shows they try to always honor the style of music they do to the country it is from. it is not vulgar or degrading or making fun of but honor. and also this shows Su can sing any style, genre or cultural. i am bias with this comment but to me there is no singer that can sing all these styles and be great at them except Su. others have tried but failed.
Thanks again guys 😀This performance is from the same one as BxMxC that you did. It was Momo's birthday concert in Yokohama, Legend MM (most big Japanese concerts by Babymetal are named). In March of this year, two nights, Night of 20 and Night of 21, with Momo being 20 on the first night and 21 on the second night. This concert, although a big production was a bit more raw than usual. The lighting was a bit simpler and brighter, the band got a lot more camera time in the bluray and got 2 (maybe 3) intro solos. I have Kagerou from this same concert in your queue. The ladies were also noticeably very happy, smiling and goofing off a lot (not that they don't usually do that but they seemed especially bubbly in this concert). I've got the guide in your Buy Me a Coffee queue also. Please consider doing a reaction to that (although it is 37 minutes long). The One would really enjoy seeing you guys find out where this great group came from.
Shanti is part of Babymetal's musical world tour on the Metal Galaxy album where the attempted the musical styles of a few different cultures on different songs. In this case they were taking on Indian music. They actually played Shanti during the shows on the Australian tour last year and it was great to see live even though it wasn't one of my favourite songs of theirs.
Just like BxMxC, this is another example of Su working her butt off to learn another style of singing, just for a single song. Needless to say, she nails it. And similar things can be said about the dancing as well. I think you might find the newer song „Metalizm“ interesting. It has similarities to this one, but even more of a Middle Eastern vibe.
Nice reaction to a great BabyMetal song that shows their incredible musical diversity. As always, I appreciate your analysis and interpretation. They will be on tour with three shows in Australia early next year (Melbourne 2/28, Brisbane 3/2 & Sydney 3/8), so you should definitely go see them live and let us know what you think.
Have you guys watched Suzuka perform when she was at the Actor's School Hiroshima (ASH)? Also have you watched the Fox 5 Band Maid interview? Listen closely to Kanami's answer to a question about their music.
So glad that ot wasn't the official video - which imo is really bad - here you get to see the choreo, camera isn't everywhere and best of all 50% of it isn't kaliedescopic views :D. Great reaction
"She could sing the phone book".....nice. 😊

Nice one fellas! This is an amazing song. If you guys want a stronger "Middle Eastern" note, check out *METALIZM (Pia Arena MM, 2023).*
🤘🦊
Thanks guys - nice reaction. A whole world of Babymetal yet to be explored! 🤘🦊

I’m not sure if you have seen Metalizm but it has some similar vibes to it.
I’ve noticed that all their shows in Japan are top level production.

Su metal's skills in singing are not of this world.

You should react to Metalizm if you want Middle Eastern vibe.
I would buy the phone book album and play it daily haha

👍👍Awesome performance🔥🔥🔥. I believe they will performance in India one day. 🦊 🖖❤
Nice one.
Nice reaction! There's no way to listen to a BABYMETAL song and not have a big smile on your face.
Nice reaction.. This song is very enjoyable, influenced by Bollywood style.

Agreed. The same is true for Metalizm.
