I am guessing that Shiren wanted to go full on melodic death metal in an album but didn't want it in the Unlucky Morpheus catalog since it is a departure. I have read comments other places online that the new album is pointless. I don't agree. Shiren is a talented musician and songwriter and I have no problem with him giving death metal a try. The advantage he has is that the musicianship is better than most death metal bands, even melodic death metal bands. The problem is that Shiren is an average harsh vocalist. I have definitely heard worse (a lot worse) but I have also heard much better. For me, however, his vocals are not distracting because I listen to harsh vocals all the time and the musicianship, and Shiren's songwriting, is so strong. I enjoy the album and at only 33 minutes it doesn't overstay its welcome.

Song of the Summer 2024!

I agree about the vocals and I tend to love harsh vocals. These are not the type of harshes that I personally love, the more metalcore harshes have never really been my thing. That said, I received my physical copy of the album last week and I do enjoy it overall. There is more emphasis on the violin than I expected. Fuki is also featured in 1 track as a guest vocalist. If you want more Jill, she recently did an other project (called "Tonerico") with an other violin player. There is only 1 MV at the moment as far as I know, but I really like the whole album overall. It's a mix of a couple of genres, which make it sound a bit different compared to Unlucky Morpheus while still having some similarities. And yes, Quadratum is a cover project with the same lineup as this except for vocalist/guitarist Shiren. I probably like Quadratum also a bit over this, but that has even more emphasis on Jill's violin playing and to be fair, they don't have original songs.

During the 4 years they recorded Divisive, two of the band members' marriages broke down. Drummer Mike Wengren got divorced early in the pandemic and guitarist Dan Donegan went through a split in early 2022. This song is about a disintegrating relationship where each party struggles with letting go. It was inspired by the ending of Donegan's marriage. "That was a really personal one for me," Dan Donegan told Billboard. "During COVID-19, I was going through a divorce after 18 years of marriage. Part of that divorce process is that there was still a great deal of love we have for each other, and we couldn't imagine our lives without each other. Just that letting go, letting somebody go that you still love, but maybe the marriage just might not be working anymore... It was touching on that. It was just very personal." Donegan came up with the concept, then wrote the lyrics with Disturbed singer David Draiman. "I threw a few lines at him, and he took the ball and ran with it." Donegan said. Then Feb 2023 David Draimen also got divorced. You can really hear the pain in his voice.

That was a really beautiful song, and her voice is fantastic. I loved it. A German band? I wonder I never heard of them, shame on me 😉 Thanks for the introduction.

Drummer (talented and recognised in quite a few drumming festivals) is the only original member, her father is the SIXth member, engineer, driver, promoter, older rocker, dogs body....quite a few changes over the years...livbing in Germany at the moment...hopefully they can go home eventually...getting better every day!!!!

It occurs to me there are two words that may encapsulate how this works so well. Yin & Yang. Another great reaction guys. I have been developing a few theories about the "meaning" of this song-beyond the obvious it's just a banger of a fun song. 5.7million views as of writing this. But All the scenes with both EC and BM are in English. The scene in Japanese the ladies are in a Japanese Karaoke bar just being themselves before the explosive intrusion of EC. For some reason it just makes sense to me that in that context they'd be singing in Japanese. FYI: BM&EC have performed this twice live together at the Babymetal's Fox Festival.

Yes, it was a question how would Babymetal answer to Electric Cowboys Sexual Innuendo and I would say they answered it and Inverted the Gane. So I think Cst abd Mouse is correct but I am not so sure who is the Cat and who the Mouse. You could say for a normal Idol BNd this would be firbidden Zerritory but this their special Point, they came from an Idol Group but they left this context long ago. And this also made sense in the Video, when Electric Call oy recognizes thst they are not in charge they zry to flee Babymetal follows them. They show insecurities and Su's calls him down.And then the Ratatata seals the Deal. I really don't want to know how much time the Backoffices used to talk about these things. From a japanese perspective these were s bit Problematik. But they tried to attract and interest young females into metal and after they gave the hope up they suddenly appesr everywhere. And so they kmow that a lot of their female fans have been nsughty and so they no longer see any need to denn their sexuality.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I fortunately witnessed the live debut and the second performance of RATATATA by BABYMETAL and Electric Callboy together in the two-day Fox_Fest on May 25 / 26 in Japan. Fun, happy, exhilarating, bubbly... Those words I could think of, as you can imagine. The song was played in the BABYMETAL's setlist in the festival. So the band in the back of the girls and Nico / Kevin was BM's West Kami Band in place of EC band that played in this MV. On this 50:50 collaboration basis, that was great, too. The interchangeability between the two versatile bands is good. EC boys can join BM concerts and BM girls can show up in EC's worldwide 😍 Is it just a coincidence that the two bands are to perform on the same days in the same places in several European festivals in June ?

Momometal is the new wildcard of Babymetal. Between that spunkyness and electric smile, but to add the growl/harsh voice. She teased us in Metali with it.... the 2nd "are you ready" during the breakdown with Kevin and the electrics cables is her and also near the end, the "everybody" with Kevin's voice. Momo is like the goofy little sister to Su and Moa.... alittle fun to go with the seriousness. 🤘

Senbonzakura is normally their concert exit song, the last song of the concert. The Roadie Shirts happen during a break several songs prior to this one. There is one song online of this concert where Machiya looks like he came in from the rain as sweat poured off his forehead.

I have a feeling that this music video will eventually be the second most watched on BabyMetal's TH-cam channel. I doubt it will pass Gimme Chocolate but who knows what the number will be in 10 years. Give Momoko more opportunities to show off her harsh vocals and maybe those self-righteous metal gatekeepers will finally wave the white flag.

Oh! You’re in Melbourne?! I didn’t even know about EC last year since I only really discovered them thanks to this collab and now I’m regretting not getting into them sooner. It would have been cool to see them in Melbourne. I did attend all three Babymetal shows in Australia last June though, including Melbourne. I was recently in Tokyo for Babymetal’s FOX_FEST so I got to see EC in Japan, and I got to see them perform this song live for the first time ever. The crowd in Japan really dug EC, and they absolutely went off for this song.

Nice reaction. I think Su could sing with anybody at this point. Funny for me other artists who sing in anything, but English I'll listen to one or two songs and that's where it ends. Shakira Hips don't lie song line is in this and she's another artists that I really only listened to her English songs. But for some reason with Babymetal that all changed. I listen to all their songs all the time. The fact that it was in Japanese just made it more intriguing for me. I just had to know what they were singing about. Because the music is amazing. Their singing and dancing outstanding. Together with the Kamiband, puts Babymetal is on another level. They're outstanding. After finding Eskimo Callboy now called Electric Callboy found they're a group that can get up there with the energy level of Babymetal. Making this collaboration a must have. And things that make you go Hmm. Both groups started around 2010. They both blend music genres, like to have fun while performing and the crowds really get into it. Let's face it. In these dark dark times, we needed this. Babymetal and Electric Callboy for the win. Now cue the new party music. Oh Yeah! RATATATA

The Japanese lyrics mean something like "look at us, we are going to be mischievous, look at us, we are going to be little devils, look at us, is that ok?" there are also translations that have them saying they are going to be "fluffy" and "sparkling" but are "luring you into a trap". One interpretation is that they are the cats and the guys are mice.

Babymetal was slightly more popular by the numbers before this video. A week after the video both Electric Callboy and Babymetal have seen an increase of more than 50% in all their numbers (spotify listeners, streams, youtube plays).
