This IMX179 module has adjustable focal lengths (5-50mm).
It can work with almost any hardware and operating systems:
Hardware: Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano, Windows PCs & Tablets, etc.
OS: Windows 10/8/7, Linux and all its distributions, Android, macOS, etc.
And to make it more convenient, the camera module also comes with an aluminum case plus a 6.56-ft long cable, providing great durability and covering range. And you can also use it with a standard tripod!

It's hard for too long cable may cause the camera to work unstably. Yes, it actually can be used as a webcam so I think it can work for octolapse as long as there is a usb port.

USB 2.0 at 480 megabits per second will easily do 8MP 4K UHD. Just use an adapter if you want USB-C. Any USB 3.0 port is ok. The advantage of USB 2.0 is you can run far longer cables and they are much cheaper. The only need for USB 3.0 is if want to use YUY2 (YUYV) at a decent frame rate.
