Does anyone out there have a simple Python script that will provide a long exposure time to capture low light photos with this High Quality Camera, for astrophotography?
How fast can it take 12mp still pictures and how fast can it take and store them, for example on a ramdisk, sd card or usb stick? What are some video formats that it does support to record/stream? Anything like 1080p/30fps?
I have the HQ Cam with 2 lenses. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to integrate them into Octopi for time-lapse recordings. It only shows me a 16 color picture ??? Do you have a solution?
I'm having the same problem with the 16 mm telephoto lens on my HQ raspi cam too. The quality is terrible no matter what I do and I can't adjust the resolution or focus properly no matter what I do.
Just knock out the IR filter in the housing or make your own housing, there is no need to sweat about exposing the sensor when taking it apart, like most good camera sensors it comes in glass package, you can't expose the actual die.
Is it limited to the raspberry only or can I use it on the Arduino too? I have a project that needs a camera of this quality but I have difficulty finding a module in which it works according to my needs. If it does not work which would you recommend that it be 4k and that it works at least in 30 to 60fps.

Might work for planetary photography, but anything else - not recommended. Long exposures are technically possible up to 200s, but in reality it's buggy as all hell, the software stack isn't really built up with long exposures in mind. Getting proper manual control of the camera is challenging and getting raw images out isn't exactly plug and play. And you can't just bypass the existing software and roll your own basic functionality to get around the problems because the sensor datasheet is under NDA. And well, while it could in theory work, it's hardy an ideal sensor for the task. It's just not worth the effort, better to shell out the cash for a a camera more suitable for the job.
@@aleksandersuur9475 Thanks for the input. I did not expect much either. Anyway,In case of bad long exposures, we can always simulate it by stacking up several small exposures, correcting any lens distortion using opencv or may be dedicated startrail stacking s/w
