We aren't HUGE drinkers of tequila here in Ireland, so our Irish People were a bit suspicious of these various bottles of Patrón... however their tune changed pretty quickly once they got a few shots into them!

Haha yes! That’s the thing everyone is amazed by! Everyone else will make a face, start to gag, complain about the taste, complain about the burn... and then there’s petite little Ciara who throws em back like it’s nothing but water. And it makes it look even more manly when everyone is dying and she’s like ooh delish, I think I’ll have another. She always has the same three reactions. “That’s grand.” “That’s fine.” “That’s lovely.” All of it said without a single twitch of the face. I’m not even a drinker, and watching her makes me proud to be whatever small percentage Irish I am lol.
I can picture that, only slightly different. I picture her walking in, setting down her revolver, and saying “barkeep... top shelf.”

Blanco - not aged, bottled immediately
Gold - not aged, with color and flavor added
Reposado - aged in wood for 2 - 12 months
Añjeo - aged 1 - 3 years in wood
Extra añejo - aged minimum of 3 years
The wood is typically a type of Oak
Tequila is made from agave thats been steamed.
Mezcal is made from agave thats been cooked in an earthen pit with wood and charcoal.
Twinks I thought tequila was just a type of agave called blue agave. The rest was the same?
Also tequila is technically a type of mezcal, just named after tequila Jalisco where it’s made. Kinda like cognac France.
@@dragonxdvzz correcto! Tequila is made specifically from the Blue Agave plant, and has a Denomination of Origin (Tequila, Jalisco). Mezcal can be made from any other Agave plant, and is produced all throughout the country (states like Oaxaca, Puebla, Durango, Guerrero, etc.)
Good job. I was going to explain it, but you did it first. I would only add that Patron is a top shelf brand, so it tastes way better than your basic brand, like Cuervo. Cheap tequila if for margaritas, top-shelf tequilas like Patron are for sipping... or shots while you are still sober enough to taste anything.

charmaine684 Tequila and Mezcal are different A tequila is specifically made with Blue Agave but is still Mezcal but not all Mezcal are Tequilas. Most Mezcal Tequila are really hard to find, Tequila are easier to find. Even Parton can be considered less quality vs a Mezcal Tequila in Mexico. That comes from marketing of Patron in 90’s. Also Añejo doesn’t mean it’s the best Tequila only Aged Tequila.

Ah yes, Patron Anejo, at fifteen years old I took my first shot of it at my brother's wedding in San Antonio, Texas. Still love it to this day, even in Germany. Nobody befriends me without also befriending Patron and Dos Equis. No hay nadie como nosotros

They don’t start with tequila because good tequila made from 100% agave is limited in production to the Jalisco region of Mexico. Most of that production is consumed Mexico and the US/Canada. What does get to Europe has substantial excise taxes added to it making premium tequila quite expensive. More than double in the US. So a bottle of Patron Silver cost like $80-$90 in the UK.

Since they don't explain the differences:
Silver/Blanco: Aged 2 months or less in oak barrels, or completely unaged
Gold/Reposado: Aged for 2-11 months
Anejo: Aged for at least 1 year, less than 3 years
Extra Anejo: Aged for 3+ years
The aging adds flavor from the inside of the barrel and smooths out the harshness of unaged tequila.

Silver or White tequila (“plata”) is aged in wax lined barrels; reposado is medium aged in oak, Añejo tequila is aged for a long time, similar to whiskey. Agave is a type of cactus (it might be technically a succeulent but they’re practically the same)

Well anejo isnt necessarily old compared to whisky or rum.
Sadly they use heavy colouring to make u think its been in a barrel for a long time

@@hondacota4rt sadly, no. The cheaper stuff is made from synthetics or other plants that taste similar. The ones displayed in this video are all top shelf, properly aged, and made with pure agave.

Agave is the nectar from a cactus,this particular cactus used for Patron is The Blue Weber AgaveCactus which is grown on sight for their special blend and quality.THE LAST 750ml bottle of Gran Patron Platinum I bought for $179 worth every penny.
The way I enjoy tequila (I live in México):
1. First, bake chocolate brownies with extra chocolate chips in a way that leaves them guey.
2. When the brownies are lukewarm, pour yourself a little tequila.
3. Take a brownie crump and a sip of tequila and KEEP EVERYTHING in your mouth. Allow both to mix.
4. Swallow slowly after at least 45 seconds.
5. Repeat.
6. Repeat.
NOW you begin to get a sensual taste of tequila :o)
NEVER EVER shoot tequila down your throat! You miss out on the true taste of every individual tequila!
I place the brownies in the fridge and enjoy them with tequila for a few evenings.
Honestly this shoot made me appreciate tequila so much more, consider me converted! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
If you liked Patron that much more than well tequila, keep your eye out for San Matias: Crystal if it's exported that far. It's the same jump in quality over Patron.

Your ability to remain cognizant when most are reactionary is admirable.
Definitely helps to drink the top-shelf stuff when it comes to tequila. Even mid-range tequila is kinda gnarsty. I wouldn't bother with anything less than Patron Silver.

We dont even drink that one here in Mexico! Seems like the most widely available one that is also sod here is "El jimador" which tastes very strong and is also on the cheap-ish side here, pretty expensive in other countries. If you want to try a really good tequila Try "Don Julio 70" that one is the real deal. Cheers to everyone and ¡Viva México! 🇲🇽

I purchased a bottle of El Jimador based on good reviews, good price and a beautiful bottle. I figured I’d give it a try. Sipping it straight it has a strong bitter flavor and bad aftertaste. Unfortunately that bitterness comes through even in margaritas. I hated it. I gave the bottle away. My friend didn’t like it either. He used it as an organic bug killer or something. A waste of money. True story.
@@DonaldDump2024 sorry to hear about this bad experience, try any “cristalino” variety it literally translates to crystal clear, it will go down really smooth on you even if you drink it straight from the bottle, be warned that itll be about twice the price or more ✌🏼

As a Oaxaqueña who prefers Mezcal over other liquors, I can say that it is an acquired taste...it's not for everyone. The cream ones would be a good one to introduce them to first as they're smoother and easier to drink, plus they're sweet.
Good mezcal is amazing. Great smoky flavor and different flavors from different regions. Like Scotches. Oaxaca is the smokiest like an Islay scotch.

@@kl1510 don't try it. Those are for the people that don't know about tequila. If you want to experience good tequila I'll recommend you to go for "el tequileño", "G4", "7 leguas" all of them in "Tequila blanco" presentation. I'm from Jalisco, so you can trust me.

For Justine and Ciara. They do in-fact make the Patron XO Cafe in larger bottles. It is available in both 750 ml bottles and 1.75L bottles.

My brother (we are Mexican) married a beautiful Irish woman and their wedding was the best wedding I've ever been to. Both Heritage and culture are surprisingly similar. And thanks to the Irish, the Mexican army was able to defeat the French in the Battle of Puebla on may 5th. Drinking irish whiskey to Mexican songs and having the Irish dance to our music was amazing. It truly was a beautiful day.
No Mexicans defeated the French twice and some Irish helped something in the second war
The Irish weren't in on that battle. They helped Mexico during the Mexican-American War because the Irish were Catholics and weren't welcomed by the protestant Texians at the time.
