Most people think Jose Cuervo when they say Tequila, however I do not know one Mexican that actually drinks it lol. My Mexican side of the family drinks Patron, Hornitos, Cabrito, la Herradura, Don Julio, and others. Don Julio being the best in my opinion. So fun watching them try these though! I literally don’t even flinch now after so many years drinking the stuff, it’s refreshing to see them struggle with the burn 😂😂😂

ah yes, Jose Cuervo. The entry level for most Americans into tequila, and likely what made them swear off tequila. Even though I hear its not technically a tequila. Also the difference between blanco, reposado, and anejo is maturation in the cask, not color. Limes must be quite hard to come by or expensive in Korea, i dont recall lemons being the citrus of choice with tequila.
Mezcal is objectively better for agave lovers which most people actually arent. Its too smokey and has a chemical-ish taste to it that makes it inaccessible to most people. Even in mixed drinks ive let friends sip they struggle with it, but i do love me a solid tia mia or naked and famous. Shoutout to Banhez mezcal.
This is what I was thinking. When I go to bars that have a lot of Mexican spirits, I usually get into the mezcal. If tequila is relatively unfamiliar to Koreans, mezcal must be practically unknown. I wonder if a decent selection is available there. If so, they should give it a try. There is nothing else quite like it.

It has a smoky citrus flavor with some orange slices and sal de guzano. It does NOT have that chinche after taste you find in many others and the smoke isn’t over powering. For the 2020 Covid life, I had 27 bottles. Depending on where you find it, it’s usually $38-$42.

In the US and in every place I've gone in Mexico, you do a lick of salt before the shot then a wedge of lime after the shot. I know in some places they do lemon after the shot but always the salt before.
They should have tried good tequila like Herradura Reposado, and also the way we drink it, isn't always in shots. We often combine them with soft drinks like Cola and Cider (black and white knight) and with nuts as a snack.

In the US and in every place I've gone in Mexico, you do a lick of salt before the shot then a wedge of lime after the shot. I know in some places they do lemon after the shot but always the salt before.

They should have tried good tequila like Herradura Reposado, and also the way we drink it, isn't always in shots. We often combine them with soft drinks like Cola and Cider (black and white knight) and with nuts as a snack.
