Here's a tip for all non-tequila drinkers. 1-STOP drinking cheap tequila. 2- "Blanco" or "Joven" means it's aged less than 3 months and is basically moonshine. Don't care if it says it's made from Blue Agave, it's a waste of Agave. 3- "Reposado" or "Anejo" means that the alcohol has been aged. This means it's mellower and isn't paint thinner like the cheap Cuervo that had you puking for days. I recommend Cazadores Tequila for an inexpensive but great brand. Again, start with Reposado. Even their Silver only for those with iron lined stomachs. Their Extra Anejo is liquid love. I sip it like fine whiskey. No lime needed.

YES! I am by no means a connoseour (or however the hell it's spelled), but 100% agave reposado Tequila is sublime. Silver is okay, but I don't care for anejo (again, however it's spelled), because it tastes like whiskey, not Tequila. I mean, I LOVE whiskey, but I don't want my Tequila tasting like whiskey.
@@mournblade1066 there was an artisan añejo that I had that was pretty decent but I feel reposado is more well balanced. And YES añejo totally has a more whiskey feel. Probably why I'm not mad at it. Like a good Canadian, I enjoy whiskey. But if I want whiskey I'll have whiskey.

When doing shots of tequila, I prefer to skip the salt altogether, and take a slice of orange instead of lime. The sweetness of the orange helps to smooth out the tequila.
I was lucky to get bottle of good tequilla before i tried it first. So my experience started with tequilla shots without need of lemon and salt. But i´m used to them now, because it was rare in my country to find pub with good tequilla.
Tried that, when there was no scotch to mix with topo chico, it's good though. I like nice tequila straight up, or regular tequila with grapefruit soda (not the really sweet stuff), it's a tequila toronja or Paloma.
And it’s absolutely amazing. Proud Texan. Love ranch waters made with some grapefruit. And the new company that is making canned ranch waters isn’t bad either.
If you've never heard this before... Just a tip (friendly suggestion). Since your taste buds are connected to your olfactory sense. lick the salt, take the shot, "Do Not Breathe" Bite the lime and draw in a breath. You will get a very pleasant mixture. However, some enjoy the burn and making cool tequila shot faces with a slight body conniption. :)

Did you know, that with a bottle of Cuervo 1800 the bottle top is a shot measuring device? Simply turn the bottle upside down, (with the top in), let it fill up and you have a shot of tequila in the top of the bottle!
Clear - Blanco (white) is in aged, Respasado is slightly aged and it’s a light color, and Anejo is fully barrel aged and is darker. Anejo is waaaaaay smoother than blanco.
In Sweden we sometimes do a "Björn Borg tequila" where you snort the salt, slam the tequila shot, then throw the lime up into the air and smash it with the flat of your hand like a tennis serve.
As a mexican the way all of them drink tequila is disrespectful tequila is meant to be enjoyed and experience all the flavors and enjoy a good spirit tequila always has to be enjoy the same as wine
I know it can be a bit pricy, but I'd love to see them give mezcal a try! Tequila's mature cousin, it's got a lot more happening as far as flavor and it might be more appealing to people who are used to the smoke and peat of a whiskey.
Use Kosher salt - not table salt. Table salt (iodized yech) really truly fucks it ALL up. Good tequila does not require you to lick - shoot - bite. It's to be sipped and enjoyed as you would a whisky.
Finally an alcoholic liquid Ciara didn’t like. On another note, blue agave is always the smoother choice. And yes, this should’ve been titled, “Low End American Tequilas“.
tequila is drunk neat, in a tequila glass or shot glass and can be accompanied by a snack or some other drink, but it depends a lot on the person. When it is drunk with lemon and salt, it is more to give it that familiar touch (adults of course) and when it is drunk alone, it is to really enjoy the tw, its smell, flavor, aging, color, etc.

Jose Cuervo and El Jimador literally make me want to puke when I drink them. Usually need to kill the taste as much as possible with margarita mix. I bought a bottle of Don Julio Blanco and Respado. Hoping for a much better taste when I crack them open.

Jose Cuervo and El Jimador literally make me want to puke when I drink them. Usually need to kill the taste as much as possible with margarita mix.
I bought a bottle of Don Julio Blanco and Respado. Hoping for a much better taste when I crack them open.
Try Maestro Dobel. Smoothest ever, not expensive, doesn’t need a chaser.

Good tequila doesn't need salt or lime - those are only required for the rotgut tequilas.

The Jose Cuervo is the only one you need the salt and lime to help choke it down. Teh salt and lime thing is a "Hollywood" thing... not a Mexican thing> Tequila shot glasses are different from the ones they used as well.
