You omitted the SOG's centre quarter inch bit holder. Which was a major selling point for me personally. When closed it functions as a fixed handle screwdriver, arguably quite a bad and bulky one but still a nice to have.
@@inkiron3907 professional approach, lol. the PA deluxe is a wave ops, not to the surge. PA Assist is the answer to the surge. Valid point about the knife slipping back, I had that issue. fixed it myself. Sogs phillips, jewelers screwdrivers and pliers are top notch if you don't go bananas on them. I didn't catch the steel used neither for the sog or the leatherman ?
I use these 2 tools as my EDC. I carry the SOG more often as the pliers and screwdrivers work better for me. The Surge knife blade is definitely better, but for my cutting tasks the SOG is plenty good enough.
In my experience I found the surge to be a good tool, but it wears down easy af. May aswell be made of chocolate. Week one - broke the small flathead Not long after broke the flathead on the switchable bit Philips head rounded off Wire cutters bent to the point it’d slow down opening and closing Dropped one time, got dented and would then hinder the opening and closing of blades Also the scissors were just annoying to use I don’t abuse my kit, I do look after it as yknow… “look after your kit and it’ll look after you” and all that but eventually just gave it to a friend after refurbishing it all as best I could and making something of the broken bits Since then I’ve had a SOG Powerpint and it has been absolutely mint. I got it off Aliexpress for about £15, straightaway turned the small flathead into a very small razor edge, wore it in so that it has a balisong effect and the thing has been to every site I’ve worked on and made many jobs on my motorcycle easier. It’s small, has pretty much everything on it. Not found myself wanting my surge back at any point. That being said, if they was to make a bigger version with the exact same formula I’d buy it instantly. (Wharnecliffe blade, scissors, maybe better bottle opener)
@@EdcDimitrisDimopoulos My Spirit X is what I use when I replace a light fixture or oven element. It has a good selection of tools and is very well made.
I had both for about a year and they’re both great but the Surge seems better. It’s not as flimsy as the SOG when it comes to tools. Either way, you can’t go wrong.
The me, the perfect multitool would be a SOG with a tougher knife, a serrated blade with the LM Charger hook, a pair of scissors, a t shank adapter, a scalpel adapter, bottle and can openers, pry bar, awl, driver extender, and replaceable wire cutters
I’ve owned and own a few MultiTools. I’ve got 8 Leathermans , 2 Gerbers and 3 SOG. I’ve got one of the first SOG Powerlocks, it feels nice to hold and I love the pliers mechanism. You’d think these would have replaceable wire cutters, because you can exert 2x the force on them. I have the model where the Gears cut into your palm when using the screwdriver function. I’m puzzled how this design floor was overlooked??🤔 The first time I used mine was a huge disappointment. I’m a Plumber and have palms like a Baseball Glove. The knife blade is also inside so you have to open up the Pliers, then open the Blade and close the Pliers. As you can see in your Video, the blade is then protruding from the upper half of the tool. So when you have hold of it you can’t cut something on a surface easily.
Just bought the SOG as a companion to the Surge. Th3 Surgenis better designed and engineered. The locking mechanism is better and the notches to pull the inboard tools are better on the Surge. The unlocking button on the Surge is better. The SOG has the eye glasses screwdriver right on the inboard tool selection instead of thr Gen 2 Surge that has no screwdriver arrangement. The Surge file is better with a diamond coated side and more impressive file cuts than th3 SOG. At least SOG has deleted the folding plier head that I have on their 30 year old multi tool. I like having a 12 bit kit as part of the package while Surge requires to buy their bit kit separately. Scissors are on the Surge. No scissors on the SOG. No replaceable plier cutting blades on the SOG. Surge wire cutters are replaceable. Surge production seem to be much better and better finished. The SOG has that cheaper fit and finish. Final analysis, Surge is better in almost all areas. Thr SOG has a few better benefits.

Yes I forgot that feature, because I forget it exists anyway. The lockable driver feature always worked better for me… but thanks for reminding me

@@hanzkammler6388 how did you fix the issue of the knife blade slipping back?

I just got the black oxide Surge this evening as a gift. I will be having a bit of fun testing it at my cabinet shop tomorrow.
I think that environment will suit the Surge well, and vice versa
I get it today too. Seems very robust. Althought not to fine tuned as my spirit x

Going to stick with my Surge.
Nothing EDC is perfect, mate. But i like the Surge myself. Coz its all i got 😎😁. Nice n fair review u did, mate. Thankyou 4 enlight me.
I really like both multi tools its a hard one but ill pick the surge over the sog good video thanks for sharing with us 👍
How do these tools compare for crimping terminals onto wire?
I do not know. TXToolCrib is a tradesman who would know, he does wiring with his Surge

The class rival of the Leatherman Surge is the SOG PowerAccess Assist MT, not Deluxe.
