*Awesome reel, **enjoyable.fishing** recommend especially for the price! No problems so far. Reeled in a 14lb laker yesterday and performed great. (5-10 min reel in time) Love the drag adjustment.*
I bought this rod before I watched your video ani it was tight like the at first what I did was use a really heavy lure and weights and loosened it up and now I can set the tension nob for my lighter lures

I used it last weekend with 2 different YUM worms and a #5 split shot and caught 2 2-pound largemouth. I like that it is a lighter bait caster than the other one I have.
It took me an hour and to get the setting on it right but it’s perfect for beginners

I’d buy just the combo for the rod and throw a black max on it
What caused the ezcast to get so tight is if you flip the ezcast open and press the release button it cost a washer on the inside left panel to fall off you would either have to put that rubber washer back on or unscrew your cast adjustment make sure you do not lose the spring take needle nose pliers and pull the adjustment out you can put it back together and it will work just fine
Was just gifted one of these, noticed out of the box (so to speak) there is a lot of drag. Could it be that the bearings in it are so caked with lube that it is very stiff? I run into a very similar situation with yoyo bearings, some come so heavily lubed that the spin time is minimal...either clean the bearings or break them in. Anxious to take this out on my next fishing adventure!

I just bought this, and having trouble using it also, there’s only two settings on this right? Tension and drag? There’s no 3rd setting “brake” hidden behind the cover right?

I have the same combo it works just fine for me, I was having the same problems until I took off the zip tie. Also the line is supose to go over the bronze bar on the ez cast

My son’s friend got one of these today. He couldn’t get it to cast and brought it by the house. It seems like a real piece of junk. I could not get the spool to run freely no matter what I tried. It almost seemed like line was caught between the spool and the body or something, but it’s pre spooled with line and there wasn’t a way to pull the spool out. I told him to return it and mentioned a few other low cost models he could try. This seems like a weird reel made to look like a baitcaster but it’s not really. I completely agree with you, you’re not doing a kid a favor giving them one of these things to use. Just get a normal one and crank the brakes /tensioner up until they’re comfortable with it.
I just bought one and I was able to loosen the nov right away. I mean it was right at first but I put some force behind it and now it’s one of my best baitcasters

Got this set up late summer have never used a bait caster, in my experience it was trash wouldn’t through out the baits I put on it almost like it locked up on me, I took it apart and still didn’t fix it I was able to return it and wait till Christmas to get the Lews Mach crush which is prob my best decision. For beginners I’d at least go with a 100$ combo and you get out of the setup what you put into it, you get what ya pay for
You didnt hook up the easy cast right. the line goes over the top silver thing then under the gold one then throw the hole. The tension knob is on the side of the rell only need to loosen it a little the bait will drop.
@Hayley Adams well seein as shakespeare, Berkeley, abu, pflueger, fenwick, penn, crapwire (spiderwire), stren and a few others are all owned by pure fishing. It’s probably almost the same exact real with a few tweaks

i got one and it's my first and i gotta say i love it.
The abu Garcia spincast reel is a great substitute to that thing, same cost but you will have a lot more fun and it can cast a mile. I use one for skipping because it’s way easier to skip cast with a spincast over a baitcaster.

Just bought the pole and reel I do like it but idk if I like the backlash safety flap like it won’t cast with the safety on which is sad cause I’m new to bait casting but I guess best way to learn is without the safety
The line needs to be fed through the things metal guide on the flip thingy, when there is tension it keeps the thingy thing from going up and applying the brake. When the thingy moves up it applies small braking to the spool preventing the backlash . I remember buying an Abu Garcia about 20 years ago when it came out it worked quite well. Just don't use braided line on it as it will wear out the things metal rod. I had it for a while but once I learned how to properly use a baicaster I took it appart and removed that thingy on the top that applies the anti backlash brakes. Anyways hope this helps. I spent a few days on one of these, and you're saying what I was saying verbatim. It's weird how the design of the spool is completely counter intuitive to what you think that it should do. I checked to make sure that the outer gasket wasn't loose on mine. It wasn't. Despite that, the entire spool developed an odd vibration that only got worse the more I used it.
I bought one and had the same issue. You did put the line in wrong, but don't have to. I took the left panel off and found the problem. There is a rubber washer that assist the easy cast and mine come off and was binding up. I Put it back on and it works like a dream.

I second this, except my rubber was still on and I had to take the rubber ring completely off for it to work
I just picked one up today and mine was fine my bait dropped easy I loosen it and it fell and backlash it cast good
I learned to use a baitcaster with a Lews American Hero series reel. I got it for less than $50 on sale. Yeah I had a few back lashes before I got the hang of it but I thought it was a great reel and still use it sometimes to this day. Nice spot, sucks about your hat.

Open it up on the left side and loosen up the the metal thing connecting to the wherl in the middle.
How far does that rod cast our Abu Garcia will not cast ten feet but we are working on it...
I run a maxpro garcia on berkeley lightning rod.. no issues
I took it apart and took the little wheel with the rubber washer out and then pulled the pin and removed the flip thing and put the pin back in put a drop of oil on the bearing and put it back together and now the knob on the side works for tension and it works fine. Dont get me wrong its not the best reel on the market but at least it works like a regular baitcaster now. So if you dont like how it works the way you bought it try this. That wheel with the rubber washer is the biggest problem remove that thing compleately so you can use the adjustment next to the handle.

I set mine up correctly, ran the line through the mechanism... still bird nests. Also couldn't cast more than 15 feet even with the mechanism off...

I've been looking at these rods but the reel is horrible felling in my opinion. What I'm going to do is put my black max on it for a good river rod. I like the length of it for tight spots.

Didn't spool it properly.. I use one of these bad boys and it works great for me.
Myne works fine I had a frog and bandito and salamander that spring for the tension nob gets me it looks cross threaded

5:15 you're supposed to run the string over that golden roller, but even then the thing is still trash and birds nests at best
That’s becuase you are soused to push up the rubber band in the gears and put it around the metal bar
Looks like you didn’t read the instructions on how to run the line. Line goes over the top of the sensor bar!
I bought this to learn from something a little easier before I spend a little more money on a nicer one and it works pretty good so far and you can’t beat the price.

The thumb release clicks twice the first click is the cast it gets real loose

You have to work it in were its brand new I have the same one it did that when I bought it.I thought that thing was a piece of shi* but then the tension lossen my bait was fallen to the ground like a normal baitcaster and I was casting about 25ft to 30ft so
I forgot you also need to adjust the side plate with a straight screwdriver to increase your casting distance think of clock wise and counter clock wise
I just changed the line and it’s still backlashing

I dont think reels should come with line already on them.This is a combo for a beginner,its to teach first comes of a baitcaster.I hav one and I dont hav any problem with mine.the more it's used it gets better,plus change that line.i dont use the easy cast system part to it,I'll use it if I'm showing a beginner.

Another thought,people wouldnt want a beginner using the nice baitcaster,this is a perfect baitcaster for beginners, just take that line off and put new on,it really makes a difference.

I swear to god I bought my baitcaster today and first cast got a big ol bite. That sum bitch took my hook my nook and my manual book. I jumped in there like a rabid hellen keller swear to god. Got this friggin bass by the tail. I came out of the water looking like a mix of bear grylls and Jason vorhees with a bitch bass in my mouth.

You didnt even line it right. If you're going to do a review, please research the item you're reviewing first. You're supposed to run the line over the gold roller under the top switch. That whole function acts as your thumb on a cast.
