I recently bought this combo to play with then give away to a kid I'm bound to bump into when I get back to fishing in spring. Its not completely terrible but you get what you pay for. I took the magnetic brake apart to see if I could smooth it out and discovered a couple things. The chassis the magnets mount too floats on 2 pins with super light springs for tension, I stretched the springs a bit to provide a little more tension, helps make the brakes a little more consistent from cast to cast. The other issue I found is the chassis binds on the pins between the 4 and 8 setting. turning the brakes up works fine but backing down will hang at different spots each time you do it and will suddenly release so it makes the brakes very inconsistent. resetting to 1 then turning back up to the new setting was fairly consistent. The tolerances are so loose that I don't see a way to permanently fix these issues without getting too costly in time and money but with a couple tweaks it is not bad at all for the money. With the brakes working the way they do I wouldn't try to do any long casts.
Yo congrats you’re almost at 100 K 500 more to go. your the most amazing hard working TH-camr I had ever seen and definitely the best one out there. Keep up the great work.
I have this one. I got lucky and bought it for about $20. It was on clearance because it was nested. Someone played with it in store. Fairly easy fix, but I figured whatever, good price deal. Its my first baitcaster, learning to use it now.
100% possible... did it two weeks ago to get my buddy into fishing... $30 combo and the basic eagle claw bass fishing kit both at Walmart. with 10 bucks to spare for a couple hard baits if you wanted.
Congratulations on 100k that’s so epic keep up the grind Ive been watching for a while and love all the awesome videos you really are the most entertaining TH-camr out there!!!
I haven’t bought any Walmart brand fishing equipment in 30 years, but I have bought a couple of inexpensive “name brand” spinning combos, from Walmart. They have held up pretty well.
@yakpak man you're an inspiration to all anglers , thanks for helping me become a better fisherman and a better person . hope all is well with covid! stay healthy and keep up the great videos
I bought an ozark trail 6'6 medium heavy spinning rod for from walmart for 20 beans a few months back. I think the spinning rod is better than the baitcaster combo personally
I have my original Diawa Millionaire Baitcaster that whines like that when you sling it hard. I have had that reel for over 40 years now and it still fishes good. Also, on the sensitivity of the rod, I think it might be more the cheap line on it. You said you are used to braid, and it transmits a lot better. Still a great review, I have seen them at my Wal-Mart and wondered if it was worth it since it is so low cost. Thanks for the review!
Finally. Someone gives an honest review of this thing. It sucks, but it will catch fish. That is a good conclusion in my opinion. I've used cheap gear and I currently have a baitcaster with a retail price of $250. This thing does not compare to my good reel, but other reviewers seem to act as though it will last as long or offer a good of features. Thanks for your honesty. .👍👍👍👍
It looks a little better than the h20 Xpress one I bought from academy. The rod snapped on my second fish. The reel was "decent" for the price. But it was hard to dial in and was prone to backlash. Lasted about 20 fishing trips before the reel broke apart one day. I'd say the Ozark trail is better than the h2o Xpress
Just look at how manysubs you got yak pak good job, I've been with this channel since you were at 35,000 subscribers keep the great work up and continue to make killer content
Dude, YakPak I use that reel as my starting reel. I had my buddy who has used bait casters since he was a toddler, the man set it up for me. I fished with it for 3 months and I caught nothing but 5 to 6 lbs hybrids and Largies on it and one afternoon I went to cast my Chatter Bait and the mother-lovin reel exploded in my hand and launched the LURE in the water witch btw was behind the dam.
I consider myself lucky, looked in 3 walmarts near me and found it at the last. There were 2 left and one was damaged. Didn't realize it was a rare find. Great video, thanks for the review.
Gotta love fishing in shorts and a t-shirt in January, it’s 10 degrees and snowing right now in Germany. Still planning on doing some fishing this weekend though, gotta get my channel up to this guy’s someday
Today is the day my friend. You will join the 100k club. Congratulations tj. You deserve it man. Been watching you since you were in the 30s. Hard work and dedication pays off. When you do your best and when you do it the right way, good things come. You definitely worked for it and did it the right way. Congratulations on 100k man. I hope I get there one day! Keep grinding! Btw if you’re ever in eastern Tennessee, hit me up! I’ll take you to my secret honey hole.
I was surprised to find at another Walmart that their fishing section was stacked, but they even sold Ozark trail baits. Of course I bought some to try em out.
I purchased one of these in March and it screamed the same way then one day it stopped and hasn’t sounded that away since. Not one problem yet, it’s not bad for $35. I like the Lews exfinity better though
I’ve used cheaper setups my whole life mainly because I don’t have the extra money to spend on high end fishing equipment. I’ve had an Abu Garcia Black Max and Silver Max both under $70 and I still have them today (probably have had them for 4/5 years). Also, Piscifun sells really good bait casting and spinning setups. I have a Piscifun Torrent Combo for $40 and it’s the best cheap setup I believe money can buy IMO! Gonna have to give the Ozark Trail combo a try.. Nice Vid!
Found a one piece red ozark trail im-8 spinning rod, (part of the combo with a quantum throttle) for 5$ on clearance. Definitely stiff for a medium but can come in handy, been using it for a trout setup as well as a finesse bass rig. I shoulda grabbed the blue casting version too, oops. 😑
I grabbed the $10 blue one and honestly it's a really nice medium light rod the only thing is the spinning reel could be a little bit better but aye what're you gonna do it's $10 yk
@@critical_oppzttv5389 if u mean the ozark trail wayfarer that everyone uses the one i got is different. much better quality as its actually quantum. its a one piece 6 foot 6 medium. i do have a few zebco slingshots for guests to use, those are similar in quality to the OT wayfarer.
Saw this combo listed for $60 but, was $40 when I got to check out. I fished it last week and had no problem dragging 2 pounders across 35 yrds of saw grass.
He has videos just about that man. Shitttt I can recommend a good one for only 30! Can get a Lew's Classic Pro reel and a 7' H2O Xpress Premier rod for 97 bucks at academy. Whole combo for just under $100, and a pretty good one at that. No complaints from me on that rod. But yeah you can find a few good rods around 100 or less at academy
Best "cheaper" rod I've found though is the Lew's Hank Parker rod for 40 bucks at Wal-Mart. I have the 7' MH worm/jig rod and love it. Been using it for at least a year now
Thanks for the help! I've watched his videos about budgets rods and what not but they are fairly old. I was actually looking at that exact lews rod the other day and the abu garcia vengeance. I havent looked much at academy though. I have a lews American hero combo, and a kast king crixus reel that needs a rod.
Use MLPH at www.fishingwithyakpak.com & save 15% to celebrate 100k! 🤟🏼😁

This reel was way nicer than I thought it was going to be, but durability was a big issue as it only lasted about two months.
Ozark trail spinning combos are the truth! I bought the inshore 4000 spin combo for like 40$. They are SO underrated!
Do you have a link on this reel
“Don’t forget to like and subscribe”
I like the video before I even get to 2 seconds into it! 😂🤟🏽
Same
coming from a Ozark Trail fishing user the best line to put on the reel is braided line but use the right pound line
I bought one for my four year old and put it on a little rod for him he loves and wanted a reel like daddy. Been fun watching him learn
If I wake up tomorrow and yakpak doesn’t have 100,000 subs I’m gonna send links to everybody i know, and tell them to sub to yakpak
Yo congrats you’re almost at 100 K 500 more to go. your the most amazing hard working TH-camr I had ever seen and definitely the best one out there. Keep up the great work.
Let’s go I was waiting for this. Banger of a vid Yak 👊
I throw a 50$ bass pro mega cast and it is just as good as a googan squad gold series
I just bought this combo today, it was the first combo on the rack and I bought it right out of the box!! I can't wait to try it out!!
I have this one. I got lucky and bought it for about $20. It was on clearance because it was nested. Someone played with it in store. Fairly easy fix, but I figured whatever, good price deal. Its my first baitcaster, learning to use it now.
I’ve been here for a long time I can’t believe you hit 100k congrats man 🎣🥳
I got this for my nephew (10) to learn to fish on. It’s been great for him to begin and learn with.
" We finally found the Ozark Trail fishing rod"
Facts
I nearly choked on my food when I heard that reel scream like that 🤣
CONGRATS 🎈🍾 ON 100k YakPak!!

Almost 100k subs congrats bro🤟
@yakpak man you're an inspiration to all anglers , thanks for helping me become a better fisherman and a better person . hope all is well with covid! stay healthy and keep up the great videos

Bro, full Ozark trail challenge! Combo, baits and kayak!
“I went to the gym this morning” man you be hitting it every morning like we should know by now that you’re putting in that work. Keep it up bro
I've caught probably 150 fish on that reel. It's held up and I'm surprised.
Almost 100k let’s help yakpack grow🔥
My buddy has one of those combos and it is so funny because that thing just starts to roar like a dinosaur mid cast.
I have my original Diawa Millionaire Baitcaster that whines like that when you sling it hard. I have had that reel for over 40 years now and it still fishes good. Yessss I’ve been waiting for this one
Hell yeah TJ! You are at 100K now congrats!!!
It would probably a good starter combo for someone just starting with a baitcaster
Yak Pak is a true legend. He's out here dedicating his time to a Ozark trail combo, yall just subscribe to him!

Yak pak just keeps bringing the bangers every upload
You should fish with the larger size of zoom speed worms.
It looks a little better than the h20 Xpress one I bought from academy. The rod snapped on my second fish. The reel was "decent" for the price. But it was hard to dial in and was prone to backlash. Lasted about 20 fishing trips before the reel broke apart one day.

YP! Thanks for the vid. I got an A rig, a heavy rod and the OT casting reel... you inspire my adventure. Thank you!
I have the same one i use it for bass and catfish, carry it with me wherever I do fishing
Yes bud the video we have all been waiting for let’s goooo yak pak
I would definitely recommend if you are on a budget, i own one and it does a very good job.
would also recommend buying some braided line for it, the line it comes with tends to tangle up easily if not dialed correctly.
The rod actually looks super good though🔥
Tj your videos are awesome you inspier me and you are great thank you for your service

Get YakPak to 100k baby most underrated fishing TH-cam out there
It would be a good starter bait caster rod.
When I bought that rod and reel I did not get the line on the reel
YAKPAK BACK AT IT AGAIN👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
another day another banger!
Every time I see a yakpac vid pop up you already know that it is lit😂🤣😅
Line is probably mono and that will lessen the traps vibration felt also. The reel I believe is made by Lews
Today I got my first thing of googan baits, I got the bandito bug and lunker log and they smell AMAZING
Its been a minute. Happy New Year my friend
Frank ❤️ you were here at 100.... and I’m honored to have you here at 100,000 🙏🏼☺️
Congratulations on 100k bro well deserved. Like always Keep up the hard work and tight linZ 🤙🎣!
Can you do another bait caster combo under like 100 or 150
That sound is from.moisture in the tension knob
This was a super great video bro! (As are all of your videos lol) keep up the amazing work and content and soon you'll be at like 200k subs!

Thank you T.J... now we know.. the scream that the reel was doing must have sacred the fish.. LOL
Much love from Charleston SC. I loved your video about the Alabama rig. Pretty awesome to watch.
100k subs Congratulations yakpak.
My son and I really enjoy your fishing videos. 🎣
Thanks for watching!
Probably the most requested review of all time. Thanks, buddy.
Never caught a bluegill on a rattletrap but I did catch one on a full size Rebel Minnow jerkbait last spring

i have that combo, its great. caught tons of fish at the pier with it
My sister got me the grey one 7 gear ratio haven’t really put it to the test, but it feels smooth af

just got one its pretty straight, it has more bearings than the 59 dollar lews one + the lews one has like no bend.
Do you have a recommendation on a casting rod under $100?
He has videos just about that man. Shitttt I can recommend a good one for only 30! Can get a Lew's Classic Pro reel and a 7' H2O Xpress Premier rod for 97 bucks at academy. I got mine in September and they were overstocked in my Walmart so I got mine for 20.
Lucky ass!! i only had 20 bucks to burn and already have other rods so I didnt really want to drop 35 on one without knowing if it was good.
Lh or Rh retrieve ? I’m right handed but prefer to retrieve with my left.
Congratulations on 100k Yakpak
