What is the benefit of a cmp 170hx? From what I have researched it seems like it's not that great. Apparently you can make about 3.5k/year profit with a 3060ti and you can only make about 5k/year profit with a cmp 170hx. Two 3060tis costs a whole lot less than a cmp 170hx. Can you please help me understand why anyone would pick this card over two 3060tis?
I wouldn't recommend a cmp170hx. I just wanted one to play with, and I was drawn in by the efficiency on ETH. They are not versatile on other algorithms like a 3060 ti. My recommendation as of writing this would be 3070 or 3070 ti's now that the 100% unlock is here. Keep in mind 3070 ti have GDDR6X memory which is harder to cool than the GDDR6 found on normal 3070's.
What a mistake lol. I didn't roi it in the bullrun and I just have it chugging away on Ergo now because its efficient. I guess time will tell if the Ergo it mined through the bear will pay for this device in the bull!

This ended up being a terrible buy at $5500 CAD, but now I see them on eBay for ~700USD and these things are a beast on ergo, and fairly good on kapow coins. They are bad on core heavy algos.
im so sad i was never able to get any of the FE 3000 cards. i was able to get asus rog 3060TI though several at MC but dont know what it is the FE is sexy looking. how much are them 170 CMP cards they have to cost a ton.
30 series FE cards are popping up quite a lot here in Ontario recently. The cmp 170 hx was about 5k CAD from a local seller here. Not a card I would recommend, but still something very cool that tickles my hardware enthusiast side
Bad idea to use 8-pin cpu connector! You need this part number "zero-three-zero - zero-five-seven-one - zero-zero-zero"! I have seven this cards and five of them were equipped with such adapters, and two were not. I bought two of these adapters with this part number.
Thanks for the info! I looked up the adapter and it looks like it uses 1 extra power and 1 extra ground conductor compared to a standard cpu 8 pin cable. This would increase the amount of power the connector could deliver by about 20%. The CMP 170hx has a tdp of 250w. I’m running it at 200w power limit which is a 20% reduction from its stock power draw. This is likely why I haven’t had any issues. The first issue you will likely experience is the cable or connector getting hot if you are pulling too much amperage through it.
