This one is interesting, because the rooms are really unique and well-designed, they really give this "scrapped content" feeling. And they feel very familiar, too. They kinda remind me of some dreams I had about Super Mario 64 some years ago. :)
I find it weird we all dreamt up this area at one point, mm? Like I remember on the second floor with the WDW background painting, there were stairs for the doors leading down to that central area, and the painting was a Bowser Painting. Hopping in it took you into a boss rush.
I vaguely feel like I’ve dreamt up a room very loosely similar in layout to the main part of the secret room. Like still a “circle” shape with rooms and paintings, but smaller and no stairs. Then again this could just be my mind making up shit that never happened.

Theory: Miyamoto was probably planning to add this in the full game. in the beta, there was going to be a function where when defeating the first Bowser and getting the big star, the invisible wall (which was thin enough then to be glitchable in the beta) will disappear and I think there was a plan for there to be a pop up text that you have unlocked the next trap door. I also think they planned to make the trap door to where the first bowser battle had took place locked after the battle is done, making you free with ease to go to the next level of the castle. the next level of the castle was where all the other levels that later made it into the full game (Jolly Roger Bay, etc.) and levels that didn't make it into the finished state AT ALL were. the painting that the player entered at the end was the entrance to Wet-Dry World. the sign was telling him not to go probably because the player was not supposed to know about it yet since it probs was a surprise, otherwise idk. This looks really good! I like how subtle it is, I feel like that's very overlooked with this kinda stuff, where the dialogue feels too cliche or there's a giant random Wario head jumpscare. It's just close enough to the original to capture that sort of eerie feeling that made the iceberg work so well
The Famous words of an Italian Man "Say Ima thorsty, have you got a Drinky?" This comment has nothing to do with the video, I just really love that line. Amazing work though!
I remember watching my dad play this game when I was a kid. He managed to get here and enter the pokey level but he lost all of his lives and couldn't get back there again.
I like how instead of being creepy it's more cool while still being unsettling at the same time, which really sets these videos apart from the other "every copy is personalized" videos. Keep up the great work.
I love this because it isn't like "AHHH EVIL WARIO HEAD WILL KILL YOU IN YOUR SLEEP AHAHAHAHA" It's more of "Oh this seems like it could've been in the game"
I like how this one doesn't try too hard to create the atmosphere, but instead uses more subtle changes to give you that unsettling feeling, like changing the layout of Peach's castle and the music you've grown almost too familiar with.
I remember in the early 2000s I had a very similar dream like this about Super Mario 64 , the entire room was blue like at 1:25 , there was multiple rooms while Bowser’s 64 laugh was heard from the distance. And a giant portrait of him like in Luigi’s Mansion. It felt very hellish
I really like the design and dialogue of this actually, it really feels like it could have been a real area in Super Mario 64, and like. it fills me with that particular sense of discovery the game has the first time through I didn't think I'd ever get again
I swear I have dreamt something very similar to this "hidden area" I always remember the dark blue sky cloud design on the wall being close to whatever ominous presence was in my nightmare. These hidden areas always seem to be very big too. people recreating them always make the hallways and painting rooms very big and disorientating, It does really give the feeling of being in a dream though. Why is finding hidden stuff in Mario 64 so believable?? Lol
When the second area hit with the Giant Land remix, a theme I haven't heard since my childhood, I felt so safe. The deep sense that everything will be okay...It's been quite a while. I enjoy this sort of M64 content greatly; it brings back the sense of wonder one has as a child that can never be quite replicated again.
Wait so the "Bowser room" has windows and one door from Wet Dry World's town... And the forbidden area has a (different, using the skybox) painting to Wet Dry World...
this unnerved me so much omg i was just expecting the static noise to get louder at any point and it didn’t and i was expecting a big jumpscares at the end or something but this is actually super cool omg
I really like how he made the castle theme a slightly lower level just to let you know Mario entered Bowser's secret area. Just subtle differences like that really makes me appreciate the work people do to make stuff like this.
This is probably the only good "mario64 hidden area spooky secret" video I've seen due to this area actually seeming like it could've been in the game. Nice work.
With the way everything adds up in this video from the rom hack and the intentional low quality filter, this is like the perfect example of the Mandela Effect. It’s like watching an official showcase of Mario 64 from an alternate universe or when you play a game so many times you dream about it.
I had a dream once about almost this exact thing. There was platforming in the castle to get to the rooms, and it was in SM64DS, But it was pretty much the same.
This is 1000% what I used to dream of when I dreamt of Mario 64. Alternate peach castles with bizarre layouts and lots of dreamt cloud texuring. Seriously those clouds hit me in a weird way and that stair case was identical to ones I used to dream of.
Had dreams like this before! Of just playing Mario 64 and stumbling upon new worlds and castle areas. The most common one seems to be blasting into the peach portrait in front of the castle and finding secret floors and halls with new worlds but waking up before you get to jump into one.
Wow, this is miles better than every other "personalized" video. It does more than just replace textures and music, it doesn't try too hard to be creepy, or only rely on the Wario Apparition. This is actually good stuff. Props to you.
I understand that these are supposed to be creepy to fit into the personalized agenda, but I wish they weren’t. It would be legitimately cool to have these pointless yet really cool Easter egg areas in Mario 64. I would love to see what a bowser themed bedroom looks like, It would be cool to explore new and remixed levels hidden just behind a bowser paining, a hidden apparition that shouts out to the Wario land games? Hell yeah!
Yo I like the interior theme with an octive down, it actually sounds suprisingly good. and the sky world super mario bros 3 theme at the end was a heckin BOP
i like how this manages to still capture the tone of the original game, you still have bowser laughing at mario's misfortune in a somewhat light hearted, taunting way, even when mentioning the cursed door its not that really forced "TURN BACK" type shit, it feels like it could be a real part of the game
Thank you for not making this creepy! The creepy stuff really bugs me. It makes me scared of the dumbest things, too. Like hearing a noise I don’t recognize when I’m home alone!
because you have also alternative soul inside you.. in an other world this was the original N64 Mario game.. and now in your own reality somehow it made it to your world.. by wishful thinking. Yes you created it :-). Now enjoy the hack
All these "I had a dream about this!" comments here and on Subterranean Terror, I'm thinking "I've had Mario 64 dreams as a kid before, but none of this is familiar to me, is this just a meme?" That is, until I saw the painting at the end. Totally looks like something I saw in a dream. Probably just really clever editing into a low-res texture that's lacking just the right details in order to seem like something recognizable. basically, u nailed it
Most people making personalised SM64 videos would just use a crappy VHS filter but this video looks like a genuine VHS recording, which, as a VHS collector, I respect.
It's actually strange. I remember having dreams as a kid of my Mario 64 copy having a different layout/areas than the original game. Nowadays I know it never was like that, but somehow by some strange miracle, this video is near identical to the layout of those dreams.
What's great is this seems plausible! I especially like the beta castle walls used leading up to the outdoor portion, it adds to the beta theme of the video.
I love the layout of the level! The custom painting with the goomba, I wanna explore that world. I wish this was like a fully functional mod expansion!

I like how this one doesn't try too hard to create the atmosphere, but instead uses more subtle changes to give you that unsettling feeling, like changing the layout of Peach's castle and the music you've grown almost too familiar with.
I really like the painting with WDW's skybox.
Ngl I wish this was a full rom hack that I could explore rn
same
I really like the design and dialogue of this actually, it really feels like it could have been a real area in Super Mario 64, and like. it fills me with that particular sense of discovery the game has the first time through I didn't think I'd ever get again
Watching this felt like a dream. I love it.
This actually looks really nice, I kinda want someone to make a rom out of that.
One with new and working levels if able to in it.
This is probably the only good "mario64 hidden area spooky secret" video I've seen due to this area actually seeming like it could've been in the game. Nice work.
This was originally going to be a hint toward the next Legend of Zelda game.
I just realized the door looks like the one from the forest temple in ocarina of Time
This is 1000% what I used to dream of when I dreamt of Mario 64.
This actually looks cool
Yes
Hell yeah!
This is my favorite personalized copy.
I think harmonic minor would've been better in this scenario.
Oh hey Glitchy!
Man that minor key rendition of the peaches Castle theme in the background sounds great
Pretty cool.
Yo I like the interior theme with an octive down, it actually sounds suprisingly good. and the sky world super mario bros 3 theme at the end was a heckin BOP
I can’t even tell which myth from the Iceberg this is
All of it
@@Marionova feels more like a second one starting to form
Can’t wait for a next part! Honestly, appreciate all the hardwork. It’s a new method of story telling.
Woah
i like how this manages to still capture the tone of the original game, you still have bowser laughing at mario's misfortune in a somewhat light hearted, taunting way, even when mentioning the cursed door
its not that really forced "TURN BACK" type shit, it feels like it could be a real part of the game
Yeah, this could easily be a rom hack adding back the other 15 stages to Mario 64. ( there was originally 30 stages in the beta version in 1995)
Thank you for not making this creepy! The creepy stuff really bugs me. It makes me scared of the dumbest things, too. Like hearing a noise I don’t recognize when I’m home alone!
I had multiple dreams of strange N64 maps and levels like this. Multiple. Reoccuring. I'm onlt finding these videos now and it's scaring me.
because you have also alternative soul inside you.. in an other world this was the original N64 Mario game.. and now in your own reality somehow it made it to your world.. by wishful thinking. Yes you created it :-). Now enjoy the hack
The music is just so perfect! It adds up to the whole vibe
This is so cool. I knew some really interesting and fun ideas could come out of this concept, and I'm glad to see more tame stuff like this
Loved this "Personalization", almost seems like a rewarding secret hidden in the game. Love how they made the music sound an octave lower.
All these "I had a dream about this!" comments here and on Subterranean Terror, I'm thinking "I've had Mario 64 dreams as a kid before, but none of this is familiar to me, is this just a meme?"
That is, until I saw the painting at the end.
Just like... the little, barest sensation that something is off, with no escalation beyond that. It's more confusing than anything.
It's actually strange. I remember having dreams as a kid of my Mario 64 copy having a different layout/areas than the original game. Nowadays I know it never was like that, but somehow by some strange miracle, this video is near identical to the layout of those dreams.
The castle theme in the minor scale really do be hitting different
Brilliant! This so reminds me of watching my cousin play when I was super young. As well as the dream stuff other people have mentioned.
I love this, not enough videos strike this balance of both realistic but still offputting.
What's great is this seems plausible! I especially like the beta castle walls used leading up to the outdoor portion, it adds to the beta theme of the video.
Okay but that rendition of Giant Land is the nicest song I've ever heard!
I love the soundtrack. This is all marvelous, a delight to my ears.
I love the layout of the level! The custom painting with the goomba, I wanna explore that world.
I wish this was like a fully functional mod expansion!
