I’ve always loved the idea of Mario going through Sonic stages even if he absolutely is not prepared for them. Seems he’s all good in Emerald Coast though
There's a mod for Sonic Generations that injects Mario and all of his movement code from Mario 64 that you'd probably get a great deal of enjoyment out of.
Don’t forget about the janky stealth mechanics and slow running speed in Peach’s stages. Those were dreadful. At least it was easy using her parasol to stun Bowser Jr. for a few seconds at a time.
What's the average IQ of the viewers here for this to get this many likes? Mario can complete this stage because of add-on mechanics (Chuckster and rocket nozzle), which grant him bursts of long lateral and vertical aerial motion enough to clear pretty much any type of video game level. And Chuckster is a universally hated mechanic. Yeah Sunshine is a great game (unfinished, but the actual core system and graphics are incredible). No, it's not because Chucksters and the rocket nozzle exist.
Personally I think it's inferior to the original version despite the updated visuals and added content such as a multiplayer battle mode. Unfortunately the game got way buggier to the point where Mario becomes uncontrollable at several points. I once thought about one of those. It would incorporate stuff from the beta that didn’t get used (train system, Tramplin’ Stu and the family of human tourists etc) whilst also adding new locations without destroying the world building.
To be honest, I think just by making the player not need every blue coin, that would make it good. Blue coins would feel great if you could miss about 15 of them, but since you need to find every one, they're not fun anymore. Episode sepcific blue couns are the worst of these. It's fun to be rewarded for exploring, but when I have no idea which nook or crany I missed, it turns into the worst part of the game that I would rather just use a guide to clean up than spend hours of my time hoping I'm even in the right level and right episode.

If Sonic Adventure came out after Mario Sunshine, people would accuse it of immitating Mario Sunshine's beach setting, just like they said Sonic Colors was an immitation of Mario Galaxy, even tho Sonic Adventure 2 had that whole small planets concept with their own gravitational center way before Mario Galaxy was even in development lol
