I remember playing Super Mario N64 dream by dream. Every dream I had contained one of the levels in this game, but in a weirder and scarier layout. I remember how Peach's castle was way scarier than it actually is and I also remember how my dreams ended when "I got to the Tick Tock Clock room". And then, I didn't dream anything anymore!

However, I can feel the dream-like energy oozing out of this clip! It must have been heck planning, designing, and performing for this one video, but it was worth it imo. You do a great job of showing just enough, but leaving enough to want more, like the switch, back of the construction sign, and the endless hallways and doors. I just want to jump through the screen and run around! It really captures the essence of Mario 64 too, with the charming writing and large castle rooms, to the point where I feel nostalgic for something I have little nostlagia for! I've been brought back to the 64 memes thanks to you, and I thought I was done with them! I'll be sure to have a lucid dream of this some day, by any means! P.S. When this is all said and done, and this is under the impression that this is a mod, release it for the world to experience! This is excellent stuff!
This is actually amazing. You perfectly constructed how I used to dream about Mario 64 as a kid, with unexplored eras I found while sleeping, everything being a little slow, the audio being quite off and faint, the picture being a little blurry, lots of familiar assets and sounds re-built to make a different world alltogether, and some new stuff, with some kind of an uneasy, yet peaceful feel. Also very nice Yoshi's Island remix at the end, actually happens to me quite a lot to dream about a game music's in another one. Very well done Marionova, would love to see more
The plot is thickening by the second: Along with my first theory, the lair where Shifting Sand Land and Lethal Lava Land was more bigger. It was shown by the sign of the Koopa Construction Sight™ that it was meant to be confusing like a maze. we of course have no idea what lies on top of the stairs, but he will probably show us next video. anyways, there was also going to be a Koopa Library. There was also a switch that activates all caps for Mario, this was removed for making the game too easy for others. another travel through the underground lair. Mario comes across another room, it was where The Sky course was supposed to be, but two entrances. A clue that Luigi could've been planned for the game. There was also a crawling space to where unauthorized guests will be trapped by the other koopas. at the other end lies a hole, probably for the 2nd battle of Bowser, and there was a sign not to enter, "point of no return" it was probably from Bowser due to his laugh at the end(I think he was talking about the hole. idk about the next door though, he might check next vid.) Another travel through underground lair and rooms. Mario enters Bowser's room. He can see him planning for a next attack with the castle on the paintings. If your stealthy enough, you wont catch his attention and you be able to knock him out by throwing him into the bombs
An extended version of Peach's Castle seems like a really cool idea! That and the adition of new levels would seem nice! So far I'm glad this doesn't have any of that Mario 64 beta copies with Wario and cursed Luigi cliché.
This is one of the best videos in the genre I've seen. Instead of being edited footage of regular SM64, it's a disconcerting sort of remix of the castle, which feels so uncomfortable because this feels like a dream, the similar yet different layout of the castle and everything. This doesn't even go for a creepy vibe. It's straightforward, yet more intriguing and entertaining than most SM64 iceberg videos out there. Huge props to whoever made this whole thing.
I remember having some weird dream that looked like this place a little bit. I remember going in the door at the beginning of the hallway and there was a level in there that was a lot like the wing cap tower, only it had the final levels skybox and airships were flying around (either that or there were a lot of platforms that Mario could jump on) I really don't remember much about the level. However, one thing I'm not sure of in the dream is a point where I came into a room with red curtains covering the walls and a heart shaped bed in the game. I feel like I'm just misremembering things considering that it seemed like a room from a fanfic that I had read before, but I also feel like it could be entirely possible that I dreamt it as well. Regardless though, I hope you plan on continuing this, or even releasing the ROM.
the library room is eerily familiar to me despite never having any mario 64 related dreams in my life. it feels like when you have an odd dream but the reason *why* it’s odd isn’t coherent in your mind.
This feels so real! I love the “Not a good day here at the Koopa Construction Crew” message. I feel bad for the KCC, it feels like Bowser’s overworking them.
This is so surreal, back when I was a kid I would have dreams where Peach's castle looked completly different, these inside castle custom designs are rather satisfying to see
This is so amazing. It really captures the more subtly creepy elements of the iceberg, it feels like a lost dream. Personally I think the camera movements could feel slightly more natural, there's some parts where the player manually directs the camera to focus on things they presumably shouldn't know to focus on. But the level design is really creepy and the dialogue is impressively authentic. It's a blast to watch and I hope you make more.
i discovered the mario iceberg stuff today and have been rummaging around. your work is absolutely some of the best! i think an underappreciated detail about it is the fact that the dialogue actually feels like it's from a mario game. it has a very similar charm to it. keep up the good work, i'm excited to see more if you're planning on making more!!
Some of the locations shown here seem to be from my reoccurring nightmares that I used to have about Super Mario 64. That was definitely the most chilling part of this video for me.
I think out of all these Super Mario 64 Iceberg fan creations as of yet, this (and Breaking the Barrier) has to be one of my most favorites! It doesn’t rely too much on jumpscares (well, neither of these videos had any at all but that’s a good thing!) and it’s not over-the-top scary (also a good thing) Rather it’s like... simultaneously nostalgic, captivating, and kinda unsettling in an uncanny way (like it feels like something straight out of a dream I could’ve had as a kid, and even something the development team could’ve actually implemented into the game!) This feels very realistic! These are very well-made! Keep up the good work!
I absolutely love the way these videos are structured. It isn't like your typical Mario 64 Creepypasta type of thing, it's like exploring a world that's yet to be fleshed out. Like a beta tester taking a crack at a game. It's just overall so cool
This really does feel like a dream you'd have after playing a lot. I've had a lot of dreams of imaginary video game locations that feel slightly off, same vibe here lol.
I really like this! Your take on the whole ECOM64IP is that of a lucid but calm dream, while Greenio's take of more that of a disturbing nightmare. I really like both of yours a lot!
Imagine this *You go to a sleep over at a friends house, you stay up till 3:07am playing Super Mario 64 you both eventually fall asleep but as your slowly slipping into a deep sleep you still see the game through the cracks in your eyelids as you've not fully closed them, the game you once new starts changing and amalgamated into a new labyrinth of levels never ending seemingly going on forever, as you walk through the halls a trapdoor opens "whats this?" you ask yourself you hear roars in the distance as the thundering footsteps of Bowser get closer and closer and closer...
Dude. This video literally reawakened an old dream I had long ago. I was playing Super Mario 64, but the layout was way different, with long corridors I'd walk past, and in the middle of one, there was a Bowser level. I don't even remember the levels themselves, I just remembered the Castle's layout and all the hallways. My question is *HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?*
When I was a kid, I remember actually having dreams of Super Mario 64 and some undiscovered new areas. I remember one specific on that was supposed to take place in the basement or something where there would be a current of water with logs going down the stream a little ala Frogger and you had to jump on them to make your way into the darkness of the direction they were coming from to enter the level. This whole castle design in this video is so uncanny tho. Strangely familiar but spooky in its differences. Not over-designed or trying too hard. But with that sense of Beta to it. It's exactly like something I would have dreamed up as a kid. I'm really hooked.
I absolutely adore this video. Its very reminiscent of dreams I would have as a kid, of completely new worlds and levels in games like Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion. Waking up at 4 in the morning to see this video, it was such a magical moment. God bless you for this!
These videos are awesome, I’m getting a Mario & Luigi vibe from them (especially at 3:26, where you have to crawl through the wall to get to a room). A lot of people are saying that these past two videos are unsettling, but I disagree. Younger me would have loved exploring more of the castle, and always wanted Mario’s journey to keep going.
You did an outstanding job on this video and "Breaking The Barrier" because they literally look like things Nintendo put in the game, but removed in the final. I also love how (I think) you recorded this on an ACTUAL VHS tape in a VHS player. I just love this a lot. Keep up the amazing work!
I really love this duplicate version of the castle that's very similar but moderately altered! Man, I'm reading all these other comments on the possibility of a future hack where the castle is randomly generated somehow, and that just sounds perfect. Great job on this, definitely feels like the kind of game dream I'd have where things are mysteriously different.
Rather than uncomfortable like a lot of the other videos out there, this one and the last feel very exciting, like you just found out your favorite game is twice as big as you thought, and you're finding it years late.
Idk why but this is very unsettling.I think it's because the way the layout of the domain is something my brain isn't use too because I'm so used to peaches castle being the way it is.And also the music is super unsettling
I think it's awesome that this little project doesn't just straight up creep you out. No rampant glitches and flashing messages and horrific static. Looks like a neat showing of a ROM hack.
It was interesting to come into the comments and see many people feel like they’ve had a dream about something like this in the game. I’ve never dreamed about SM64 like this personally, but I have had similar dreams about Luigis Mansion, for example, where there was a secret door on one of the staircases that brought you to a terrifying room from the beta, and the existence of outside areas and entire new hallways on upper floors. Now that I think of it, I’ve had a crazy number of Luigis Mansion nightmares, for an unknown reason since I truthfully have never found that game scary, even as a kid. This whole concept of dreaming of a new area in your favorite game is so fascinating to me, and seeing it embodied in this video is really awesome
Bruh, you can. Maybe if you search up "The 4th Floor Basement" it'll show up. Additionally, it is used in earlier versions of the hack B3313, so if you find the playlist of early/unused tracks, you'll find it.
I had a dream involving Mario 64 a LONG time ago. In a specific room (not sure where, I was around 8-ish when I had the dream), if you back-flipped into a hole in the ceiling, you'd drop into a secret room. I think it led to a secret Bowser fight? The room itself had some sort of pink decor, which maybe means it was Peach's bedroom?
Are you serious right now?! When I was younger, I had a dream in which if you go to the basement, but as soon as you leave the lobby, if you look in the top-left corner, you notice a dark pink secret room!!! I think it did led to a Bowser fight, so we just shared a dream!
I know that this is something a lot of people are saying, but it gives me vibes sorta like a recurring SM64 dream I had every now and then. Most of the castle's layout way basically the same but everything from the second key door onwards was different, featuring dimmer lighting (but in a cool way, with blue wallpaper that had a star pattern), a HUGE spiral staircase that allowed you to access a number of new rooms (or just jump into a pillar of light in the middle of the room that operated like jumping into an updraft to fly to the top of the stairs), an all new layout for Tall Tall Mountain that featured SMB3 and Rainbow Ride style airships, and most interestingly to me, a chance to rescue civilians like the Toads and some others. This reminds me of that because, just like that dream, my reaction was always "this is hella cool, I wanna keep exploring." I was always happy when I had that dream again.
I'd love to play this at some point; most of this looks like stuff that would plausibly be in SM64 if the dev team was given more time to flesh out the castle itself and add more levels (or maybe even an expansion of some kind, ala F-Zero X Expansion Kit for the N64DD), and I'm getting the same sense of wonder that I got as a kid exploring it for the first time.
Keep it up with these videos; we need to spread the metaphysical awe and wonder of this deep and mystifying 90s platforming game. You are doing God's work here, son.
I remember having a dream in which there was a locked door between the 8-star-door and the upstairs key door. That door leads to a small, dark and weird maze around the upstairs... Also, why don't you have more Likes?
I think I can safely say that sometime ago when I was a kid, I was obsessed with playing Super Mario 64 so much, I often dreamed about playing in a secret course either in the castle or by jumping into portraits that wasn't in the normal game. And seeing videos like these and mods of Mario 64 triggers the waves of nostalgia I had with the game and I think alot of other gamers too. I guess what I'm saying is that our base game may not have all the secrets and unlockables we were expecting, but this is one hell of a experience this game has on us and I think that's Super!
Nintendo should remaster SM64 again and add Bowser's Domain, the fourth floor, and all other "personalized things." And I keep hearing that there will be a ROM Hack for that like in TetraBitGaming's Video.
You know, i have been having mario 64 dreams for an extremely long time that play out a lot like these, despite the fact I didn't play the original until THIS YEAR... besides that, these have a real Petscop vibe that I REALLY love.
I swear I've seen this in my dreams
Me too actually!

SHARED NIGHTMARES
Holy shit, same
I can only imagine how Lakitu feels, having to follow Mario through all these odd scenarios.
He must be able to go super-fast to keep up with Mario during a BLJ
i love how mario is just avoiding everything that would turn this into a creepypasta
Honestly I’d love to see more of this. This is a great idea, a great aesthetic- the writings's perfect for SM64, too!
Mario breaks into Bowser’s bedroom and steals his liver.mp4
wow
This is actually amazing. You perfectly constructed how I used to dream about Mario 64 as a kid, with unexplored eras I found while sleeping, everything being a little slow, the audio being quite off and faint, the picture being a little blurry, lots of familiar assets and sounds re-built to make a different world alltogether, and some new stuff, with some kind of an uneasy, yet peaceful feel. Also very nice Yoshi's Island remix at the end, actually happens to me quite a lot to dream about a game music's in another one. Very well done Marionova, would love to see more

"Super Mario 64 : Strangely familiar places you've seen in your dreams edition", apparently
The plot is thickening by the second:
Along with my first theory, the lair where
Shifting Sand Land and Lethal Lava Land was more bigger.
I like how a random out of context pic of Wario from an E3 showing has basically lead to "Petscop but with Mario 64"
That description has piqued my interest in Petscop...
An extended version of Peach's Castle seems like a really cool idea! That and the adition of new levels would seem nice!
So far I'm glad this doesn't have any of that Mario 64 beta copies with Wario and cursed Luigi cliché.
Why do you gotta tease us with all those doors you don't go through? ;-;
Will this be released as a ROM when all of these videos are done?
ikr
German Reigion [Germany BGM] what?
Dr. Gamecube he meant it would be very rare to get a rom of this
Limes Except he just released the rom...
@@C_Yo I didnt say it was very rare, i was just telling Dr. Gamecube
what that other guy meant
This is one of the best videos in the genre I've seen. Instead of being edited footage of regular SM64, it's a disconcerting sort of remix of the castle, which feels so uncomfortable because this feels like a dream, the similar yet different layout of the castle and everything.
This doesn't even go for a creepy vibe. It's straightforward, yet more intriguing and entertaining than most SM64 iceberg videos out there. Huge props to whoever made this whole thing.
This makes me want to see a hack that instead of adding more levels, just makes you explore the endless abyss of Peach's castle.
This is like a vivid dream of an SM64 player I love it
I remember having some weird dream that looked like this place a little bit.
Woah your copy has the bowser room, that was Mitamoto’s favorite
the library room is eerily familiar to me despite never having any mario 64 related dreams in my life. it feels like when you have an odd dream but the reason *why* it’s odd isn’t coherent in your mind.
bbh?

I appreciate the wholesome detour from "perspnalized" content. Honestly, this is creative. Future big-time ROM hack material.
I love all these extra rooms and hallways. Gives me back rooms vibes in a way.
I think it's less weird discovering these videos, then it is discovering that so many people have had a fever dream about Mario 64.
i discovered the mario iceberg stuff today and have been rummaging around. your work is absolutely some of the best! i think an underappreciated detail about it is the fact that the dialogue actually feels like it's from a mario game. it has a very similar charm to it. keep up the good work, i'm excited to see more if you're planning on making more!!
These videos really make me wanna play a ROM of this.
Personalized Jokes aside, can we all just admire the level of thought and effort put into this?
1:42 bowser library it seems to be he like reading he is cultured
I really like how you went for a "little kid having a dream about the game" aesthetic rather than just making it spooky.
Some of the locations shown here seem to be from my reoccurring nightmares that I used to have about Super Mario 64. That was definitely the most chilling part of this video for me.
Me 2!!!!!!!!!!!!
When your done making these videos do you plan to release the rom. I'd love to explore this castle.
Same, I'm so anxious to check this out and its other rooms

I think i might have seen that white bowser room part in a dream. It looks really familiar...
I Like How Marionova Was Hiding The Fact That There Are Invisible Walls,Making The Tape Me Unsettling Cuz We Want 2 Know Where It Gonna Take
I love this hack, it was so fun exploring everything about it
I think out of all these Super Mario 64 Iceberg fan creations as of yet, this (and Breaking the Barrier) has to be one of my most favorites!
It doesn’t rely too much on jumpscares (well, neither of these videos had any at all but that’s a good thing!) and it’s not over-the-top scary (also a good thing)
Rather it’s like... simultaneously nostalgic, captivating, and kinda unsettling in an uncanny way (like it feels like something straight out of a dream I could’ve had as a kid, and even something the development team could’ve actually implemented into the game!) This feels very realistic!
Me too!
I'm really hooked.
even after a year I still love this series.
"Oh no not the Bowser room! This was Myiamoto's favourite!"
*m y i a m o t o*
That brown cap switch may unlock a mixture of the wing, vanish, and metal cap but that is a guess (Brown cap switch on 2:05)
No it's blue cap switch
I’ve gotten so used to the Breaking the Barrier themes that I feel so confused listening to the original music.
I absolutely adore this video. Its very reminiscent of dreams I would have as a kid, of completely new worlds and levels in games like Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion. Waking up at 4 in the morning to see this video, it was such a magical moment.
God bless you for this!
"The halls are too confusing...!"
Damn right, Bowser, damn right.
I’ll always love this one. just because every copy of maro 72 is personalised doesn’t mean it becomes a horror game
Yes
I really like the castle layout
You did an outstanding job on this video and "Breaking The Barrier" because they literally look like things Nintendo put in the game, but removed in the final. I also love how (I think) you recorded this on an ACTUAL VHS tape in a VHS player. I just love this a lot. Keep up the amazing work!
4:49 "I Printed it out and Brought it to School and said 'LoOk iTs REEAL'"
I really love this duplicate version of the castle that's very similar but moderately altered! Man, I'm reading all these other comments on the possibility of a future hack where the castle is randomly generated somehow, and that just sounds perfect. Great job on this, definitely feels like the kind of game dream I'd have where things are mysteriously different.
Bowser: *making a plan to capture peach*
Mario:Y E E T
This actually feels like a dream I would have.
Rather than uncomfortable like a lot of the other videos out there, this one and the last feel very exciting, like you just found out your favorite game is twice as big as you thought, and you're finding it years late.
This is really well done! it actually feels like it's from the game!
I still wish I could find the theme from 0:20, even if it's just a reinstrumented version of the main castle theme.
Exactly! It looked like a bedroom!!!
I had so many dreams like this, I love you for making such content!
Dang man, that's some next level building right there
Mario breaks into Bowser's House and violently assaults him.
Nintendo should remaster SM64 again and add Bowser's Domain, the fourth floor, and all other "personalized things." And I keep hearing that there will be a ROM Hack for that like in TetraBitGaming's Video.
it's uncanny how much this actually reminds me of a dream I had once
Dude. Really hope this is a tease for a mod to release. So frickin awesome.
You know, i have been having mario 64 dreams for an extremely long time that play out a lot like these, despite the fact I didn't play the original until THIS YEAR...
besides that, these have a real Petscop vibe that I REALLY love. Ive been wanting to make a video series that actually takes the whole "every copy" thing somewhat seriously but you're taking a different approach to it
I'm watching this before bed, gonna have some weird dreams lol
