Wario Land 64 was probably gonna be one of the best N64 games late into its lifespan, and I’m happy to present one of the promotional tapes that would’ve played as an advertisement for the game. This was kindly given to me by an anonymous donor that used to be employed at 株21corporation, so many thanks to them. The tape doesn’t seem to be the original; it’s a "bootleg" tape from in-house meant for sending to localization groups or something.
This tape has lots of early footage from the game’s development, like the early HUD and some level design changes. More notably is the fact that this tape mentions the Wario Land 64 manga, which only ran for 1 issue… it’s debut issue. Oh well, it’s fun to think of what could’ve been. Maybe one day I can get my hands on this long lost piece of digital media.
Another thing this tape includes is the character of "Metsuki", who seemingly had her debut here and showed up in many Mario spin-off games like Mario Tennis and Mario Golf, but never in a mainline game. Here’s hoping this character will appear in one of Mario’s (or Wario’s) next great adventures!

Unreleased Nintendo Collective, or UNC for short, will be a series that consists of mainly "What if?" styled videos. It can be for any game! Mario, Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Famicom Detective Club, among many other games and franchises!

I’d like to not file a complaint. The fact that you can make this stuff look like it was actually from Nintendo is amazing, love it.
It took me a bit to realize that was just the plot of Wario Land 3.
It seems more like a fusion between Wario Land 3 with certain enemies and Wario World with the general layout and the level looks.

I like how this "what if" is basically "what if Wario Land 3 was a Nintendo 64 game", it has added details about Wario Land 3's plot like how Captain Syrup stole the Hidden Figure's power, a detail I don't recall ever being in Wario Land 3. It makes me wonder how the end-result of this theoretical game would be, or if Captain Syrup actually would have showed up in Wario Land 64.
For what i've seen in this trailer, i think that syrup could have a similar roll as King Dedede in kirby's adventure, when the villain appears to have gathered/ruined all the power to himself but in reality, the villain was trying to stop an even bigger menace.
0:58 Hearing Wario on his plane laughing his garlic-eating but off and the whimsical music makes me grow a stupid grin on me, something about it makes me happy.
After watching this, I don't believe that this is fake. It's too good!

I want a proper 3D Wario Land now. Not a brawler like Wario World, which is also sort of fun, I want an actual Wario puzzle platformer translated into 3D. This was super nice to watch, really well made stuff!

Pretty sure this concept has its roots in the "Mips Hole", an SM64 creepypasta community. Though, given that this idea of what the game would have been like is quite different from the Wario Land 64 page on that wiki, it's also possible we've borne witness to quite a crazy coincidence.

I'm utterly gobsmacked! Such a labor of love that echoes the era of these game. The MIDI remixes, the implementation of the transformations, that VHS grit! Kudos to the whole team
This is amazing! Pretty believable throughout most of the video! Probably the one non-believable thing I can recall was that anime sound effect at 3:19.
Hearing Wario Land 3's music in N64 soundfont is just so incredible... if there's any way I can listen to those tracks on their own, that would be amazing.

I love this but now i'm sad I need to live in a world where it's not real.
My absolute favorite part was hearing the N64 interpretations of the Transformation themes.
I was on the fence about the soundtrack up to that point, because none of the arranges up to that point really stuck out to me. I also was kind of iffy on Out of the Woods's first lead being translated as an electric guitar, as it sounds more like a saxophone or something similar to me. (Although, props for using that one Roland Electric Guitar sound that always popped up in N64 games.)
The Fire Wario arrangement was such a true blend of both WL & N64 Hudson, though, that it totally caught me off-guard. It had a very similar feeling to what I get from Mario Party 2's music, which I really liked. That short series of remixes did a spectacular job, and made me hope I could listen to them outside of the video. Extreme kudos to Emma and Robot for those arranges.
Those few seconds of "gameplay" also looked very enticing. His run cycle looked great. It wasn't the fast footwork from the GBC, or the methodical stride from Shake It/Shake Dimension, but somewhere in between, and had its own feel.
The idea of traversing 3's expansive world as one "open world" sounds heavenly. It would most likely work on Ocarina of Time rules, unless Silent Hill fog got introduced. It'd be interesting to see how the "Hold B button on Map" unlock would translate to this new gameplay style. Perhaps it'd be used like Saria's Song, for communicating with the Mysterious Figure. The more I think on it, the more disappointed I get that it's not real :/
Overall this had a level of realness to it bordering on the incredible. (During the mockup intro, if you'd used Wario voice clips exclusively from before World came out, that would've been the icing on the cake.)
Designing the archetypal "narration character's" head to be styled after Wario's nose/mustache combo was a really cool touch.
This is so weird. I'd been imagining a 3D interpretation of Wario Land 3 since I played it at the beginning of the year. You guys did a pretty good job with that Out of the Woods footage, it made me want to see more.

Wario when hearing about Wario Land 64: Now this is what I call fun.
In a parallel universe this was in our childhood.
And also, Wario Land II and 3 had health systems that results in getting a game over should it drop to 0, and then you're given the option whether you want to continue or save the game and quit, which is what Wario Land II and 3 should've had. Besides, look at Wario Land 4 on the GBA.
Superb work all around!! I'm so excited to see the next entry in this little series. It's so cool you're doing these What-Ifs and you're doing them so well!! I'd there's any feedback I'd give, I'd say adding in some crustier particle effects and capping the frame rate lower or slowing down the footage might make it look more authentic to the N64 "feel" even if it wouldn't make sense for Wario on the DD to be running that slow. Either way it still looks superb!

There was so much effort put into this, it’s amazing! Was the 3D footage created using unreal engine or something, or was this done via a rom hack on the 64? It looks so legit it’s hard to tell.

it give so damn wondering as why doctor mario 64 had almost all of the Wario land 3 cast, it keep me belived it was initialy been an wario land game for n64, its probaly an near coecidence they put all spritework in with the plot story convey in. even if probaly Wario World is supposted be an n64 entry but who knows really. Still is an neat what if scenario.

well I never heard of "wario land 64" but my guess is it will be getting it's own iceberg and "wario land 64" and this "disk drive cartridge" it has are are going to be recompiled, then decompiled, and then recompiled into english as well as getting all of the unused data and ideas into "wario land 64" basically.

this proves why Nintendo should have made a Wario Land game for N64 along with Metroid 64 and other games that didn't get an N64 game. Konami should have made Contra 64 with side scrolling gameplay and with prerendered sprites and 3d stages with 2d action platforming like 2.5d
