Chicago: Utah, we want a generational defensive talent, and the best screen assist man in the league, Rudy Gobert.
    Utah: We are listening.
Chicago: Here's a decent offensive center with a big contract and a project player who hasn't been elite at anything.
    Utah: and?
Chicago: That's it. That's the trade.
    Utah: (hangs up)

I mean Utah can't afford to be picky considering the impass between Mitchell and Gobert. That's a pretty solid offer. Granted, I think Atlanta could outbid them with Capella, Collins and a pick.

Bulls dont give up Williams. It would have to be Vuc and White for Gobert, perhaps with a pick as well. They are a finals contender the second they make that trade. Alternatively, they sign Ayton, Bamba, or draft a replacement big and run it back.

Then for Ayton, I think people are probably overestimating how much PHX is going to get in a S&T. Especially from teams who can send a max offer sheet or easily clear the space to do so. If they could get Ayton on a discount, then sure it’s more reasonable to give up a good asset, but I don’t see that happening. Historically in S&Ts the return isn’t anything amazing.
It’s not like you’re trading Ayton and he’s already under contract. Sure, he’s an RFA, and PHX can match any deal…but if they’ve shown no indication that they will they lose so much leverage.
I still think PHX would be very dumb to let Ayton walk. They should just pay him a bit under the max, maybe like 5/150, and then if it doesn’t work out they can trade him in a year or two. CP3 is really old and they’re not gonna improve by moving Ayton. They need to just re-sign him.
They can use a pick to dump Dario Saric’s contract and save money that way. They have all of their own future picks so they really can improve the team and not be ridiculously expensive. The problem is maybe the situation with Ayton isn’t salvageable, we don’t really know. It can’t help Sarver is still the owner. Not only because of all of his issues and the investigation, but bc he’s been historically cheap AF.
So yea it’s a really bizarre spot. If they can bring back Ayton, add a solid player on the TPMLE like a Gary Harris or something, then bring in a reliable backup PG by packaging Shamet/Payne and pick(s) they really could compete again. But if not I don’t see how they can stay in contention.
I wonder how CP3 will feel if they end up trading Ayton for some mediocre C and a pick or something. He seems to love PHX, close with the team and the coach, but he doesn’t have much time left to win a ring. Maybe he’d ask out if they did move Ayton and he felt like they couldn’t compete. Wonder where he could go though. Not many teams that are even close to contention need a PG. Him going back to New Orleans would be pretty funny. Him, CJ, Herb, BI, Zion, Jonas, Nance, pick 8, etc. could be a fun squad. If he demanded out I doubt they’d have to give up more than like a future 1st, maybe Jaxson Hayes, and some salary filler.
It’s crazy how much having an owner that’s willing to spend well in to the tax gives you such a competitive advantage. So many of these billionaires cheap out and it’s unfortunate.
I think kinda best case for PHX in a S&T is they get like Jerami Grant. Then they’d have a bunch of wings and could run some small ball units with like CP3/Booker/Mikal/Crowder/Grant. Maybe trade like Shamet and Payne and a pick for Richaun Holmes. Then use their TPMLE on a solid backup PG. Then I assume they’d straight up salary dump Saric using a pick to get off his almost $10M.
That’d give them a team of like:
CP3, some solid backup PG, (maybe Delon Wright or something idk) Booker, Cam Johnson, Mikal Bridges, Crowder, Grant, Holmes, JaVale, then some minimum guys.

If Collins leaves, who else is in our front court? Gallinari is too old, and even if we get Gobert, that leaves us with 2 centers who can't shoot outside the paint. Besides, the Blazers are more than likely about to rebuild, so they won't want to trade the seventh pick. This is just my opinion, absolutely love this channel regardless.

A report came out today that the Hawks are going to be heavily engaged in sign and trade talks for Ayton and this has been a rumor for a while. Take it with a grain of salt but our frontcourt would have Okongwu at the 4, who has good midrange touch and has stated that he is developing a jumpshot this summer. Ayton has an elite midrange game for a center and he can stretch the floor when needed. Not to mention, Jalen Johnson's development could take a big leap as seen in the G-league and he could bring a dynamic skillset at the 4 position.

Look I know Warriors won the chip this year, but I think going forward, they will need a much bigger presence in the center position. Currently, with Wiseman, whose performance is a variable, only Looney can effectively perform that role.
So who to trade for? I would say Poole and Wiseman for Ayton and Shamet. Warriors don't need that much shooting power as they already have that in Klay and Steph. Kuminga or Shamet will be the one to step up in Poole's role.
