I think raptors walk if they have to gut the team for Kd, also i wouldnt give any picks if it was siakam and barnes going. KD is 34 and has an expiry date like all athletes and its likely 2 years max. I would rather the raptors not trade for kd personally, and save their picks for the fire sale that is coming by trade deadline by teams trying to tank for the monster french center in the draft next year. probably can pick up some bargains in the tank fest that fit better on the raptors. raptors won 48 games last year, next season after a year of playing together and having learned the defensive system, i think the raptors offence is better and they win 50-57 games next year making playoffs with the bench depth they got.
@@giovanni-ed7zq Then they won't get KD, as much as I feel the same way. Any trade I looked at for KD to the Raptors, I had Scottie in it too. Scottie is a potential Superstar no doubt. He's also not on the time-line of VanFleet and Pascal. So if they aren't going to trade for KD. Why at least not look to trade them at some point? Because those guy's are only going to fade away soon. Raptors will need to look at maximizing their trade value. Sounds like they're backing out of the KD trade.

I think durant gives the raptors a legit chance to win another ring. I guess it depends if you’d rather go all in and have a real chance to win it all next year or wait it out and hope for the best.

They’re not doing that at all. Kd has 4 years of control that’s the only factor. If he had 1 or 2 years, he’d have all the leverage in the world. Player empowerment wins titles, good front offices are extremely rare
@@lnd1998 Milwaukee and GSW are great organizations that have developed players through draft that have won championships (minus 2 years of KD in GSW).
Prior to LeBron era of his control over his contract, teams, and bringing in players to play with, front offices through draft and trades won championships.
Of all the "will this affect (insert name of player)'s legacy" talk, KD quitting after things go south is the most legitimate one.

I feel like I’ve figured Kevin Durant out and I think he’s playing a long game. He wants to go back to the Warriors after seeing them win a championship without him; he misses the winning culture. He probably thought that he could replicate it by inserting himself into the budding culture of the young Nets, a likely perennial top seed and the East’s representation of what the Warriors built. He brought his best friend along and thought they’d have a piece of cake walking through the eastern conference to eventually meet the Warriors to claim victory. “I won you two chips and you don’t need me?! Lemme flex real quick and show you who don’t need. I’m Kevin fucking Durant” was probably his mindset. After having enough of the spectacle of Kyrie, Harden and Simmons he wanted to go back to where he knew the grass was greener. But he couldn’t do it outright. If his legacy is debated as it is now, going back to the Warriors right after they just won it all would make him softer than soft. So he requests a trade to the top, to make to make short work of the conference finals/finals and win a chip before requesting a trade back home. Back to where he first tasted victory and was part of a winning culture. It’s the perfect prodigal son story but he must’ve not calculated in Kyrie’s drama.

The Nets are asking for so much that it will be difficult to trade Durant, especially since they're asking for all-stars in return. Not many teams are willing to part with all-star level players who are entering their prime in addition to other assets for someone who's likely exiting his prime. If he does get traded, I believe it will be somewhere like New Orleans or Toronto, places that never attract elite free agents and have the assets necessary to make the Nets happy.

It seems it would be wise to sign a rookie for example 1M less than max. 193M vs 192M should not matter for a player that much! But it gives way more flexibility to the team.
I honestly think they have a really good team. Especially with Ben helping them defensively. And the new additions… and ooo you have 2 of the best scorers… like they genuinely have a chance. It’ll be stupid to trade them plus no trade makes sense for anybody!

He is going no where. Honestly, I wish he does, because I wanna see a major trade. I haven't been an NBA fan long enough to see a massive trade, so, this would be once in a lifetime opportunity.
You’re right that the most likely scenario may be him staying in Brooklyn, because the longer it drags on the more likely it is they don’t get a deal they want. It’s becoming more and more clear they’re unsatisfied with Ayton on a close to max contract (which he wants) and bridges and that unless they get rid of Simmons the calibre of players they want will not be available.
I understand you’re covering all NBA teams so it’s hard to know as much about each team as their fans will, but you really need to research more on the raptors before you push the narratives bi media have been pushing about what they may do to get Durant. Barnes and Siakim will NOT happen and they will not trade OG for Ayton. FVV + OG and all the picks they can offer is the most they will offer for KD. Brooklyn and the media want Scottie and Pascal plus picks but that’s way more than they will give up. They just one in 2019 so they don’t have to give up the future and contending for years to come to get another title. It’s a business at the same time and the money they’ll make by contending (and having a solid chance at a title with the current core) is worth more than another one off title. Toronto doesn’t mean anything so all the Toronto rumours are coming from other teams, not then.
in all honesty i think KD gone stay. especially bc he signed that 4 year deal and the nets are being smart about giving compensation back for him
The NBA stars of the 80’s and 90’s will always be remembered as big hearted athletic warriors. The NBA stars of the 2000’s and 2010’s will always be remembered as overpaid,unloyal,lazy, hired gun, , ring chasers. It’s crazy how much the sport has devolved. It won’t be much longer until it ends up like boxing. Where people like the capitalizing Don King are more popular than the athletes themselves.

At this point, I'd run it back. Kyrie's trade value is only slightly higher than Russ'. KD is locked up for 4 years. If the season doesn't go well, trade Kyrie for whatever you can get and then work on trading KD. If things go well, you have a deep playoff run or a chip.
Kyrie is only on a one year deal. If things fall apart, he just walks and they get nothing in return for him.

Ps: that raptors trade is so clearly the best offer even though it will never happen
The complexity of KD trades where everyone is mostly happy will make this crises drag on for weeks.
This video is on point - the Nets have no reason trading Durant. The only reason, is if they can become better - and there is no trade package that will retain the value of KD for contending. The Nets are buying - and having the best player in the world is probably bad losing when you are in a buying situation. KD's legacy will be much better if he stays with the Nets for a couple of years, win some playoff series - even without a chip. Leaving the nets will make him a player that isn't a real competitor. I mean - the OKC to GSW already exposed him, but leaving again, and sinking the Nets ship for the next 10 years for a 2nd round exit is just unforgetting stain in his legacy. If BS can play, the Nets are really good...
I believe the #1 is likely to happen. First off, no way the Nets accepts the trash trade out there about Westbrook. Second, their price is like super crazy high... no team is willing to give up 2 all stars and their future for KD... sorry. They have to put their pride aside and run it back. I like the front office humbling these divas.

I’d more so see a trade of og, Scottie, khem birch and thaddeus young, 3 picks and 2 pick swaps for kd. Brooklyn gets 3 picks for their rebuild and they’re two all stars (Scottie is this years Roty and og averaged 17 pts and 5 reb at 24 years old.
Not to mention they get Thaddeus young who’s a solid bet and can teach Brooklyn’s players to actually play games and average atleast 0.1 points a game instead of their 23 high fives, 13.4 rebounds for their teammates during pre game warm ups and 0 dunks on trae young.
The Jazz would way hell no to that trade cause we’ve all seen what happens to Ben Simmons he won’t shoot and is a pain in The ass for every team he plays for

In my opinion, Raptors should trade OG, Birch, Trent Jr and 3-4 first rounders. But I don't think it's likely the nets would want that

I think them staying is most likely at this point, but considering they lost Drummond, they need a new center unless they're just going to hope Claxton improves a tonne and can play out whole games
Only team I see potentially saying no in that four team deal is Utah. But overall, I do like the deal as a whole. And a Siakam/Ayton front court lokey sound good on paper.
Can Ben play as a small ball center? I think he can, if they did that he can be maximized well playing in the post with shooters around him (Kai, Joe, TJ, KD), and also leading the fast break. Their inside defense will be the cost tho.

I personally like the Blazers still as a possible contender. Sure, they won't be giving up two all stars for KD, but I think a 3+ team trade that involves some picks, Anfernee Simmons and whoever else the Blazers want to throw in whose not named Damian Lillard or Jerami Grant could maybe work. It seems like a stretch, but honestly I really like the idea, especially if they can get another good player from a third team in the deal. Whichever way the cookie crumbs, though, it'll sure be absolutely crazy.
a team that’s a dark horse to me in this KD sweepstakes is Memphis.. they have a lot of assets to offer.. Morant & Durant would be fun to watch!

@@Martin-lt6dt yep, KD is not a leader, not loyal, injury prone and older. I’m looking at the bigger picture, I rather go with our young core + Ayton. Yes I watch ball. KD proved he can’t get over the hump unless he has a backing like GSW. Even if he goes to Phoenix or Miami, they want win.

Maybe KD goes all in and the raps win another ring. Or you can bet on Barnes. They’ll have to move vanvleet so he could get more touches and offensive opportunities. I think his max potentially is 20-8-8 which is awesome but you won’t see that next year and that’s if everything goes right for him. Getting KD would be huge for the raptors
I agree with Durant with the Warriors thing. It would be so stupid to come back after leaving and wanting to chase individual greatness. Him coming back is like giving up on the idea that he can be a champion without Steph. That does not sound like a top 5 or 10 scorer of all time.

As a Miami heat fan we want KD but not if it means trading some of our biggest assets for the present and almost all of our assets for the future. We’re a good team with a good future and it would suck to lose that for just KD
