  • Healthier Versions recipes for macronutrient restrictions. I share these recipes because I know what it's like to live with dietary restrictions. Because of this eating lifestyle I have been able to avoid being put on 4 medications, maintain a 17-pound weight loss, maintain a blood pressure range of the mid 120's to the low 130's, as well as maintain an a1c in the low 5's.
    Today's recipe is an oldy but goody. My father, Hurley King introduced this awesome dish to me when I was a kid. We would have sausage patties, buttery karo syrup and biscuits with them. I put pancake syrup on them now. However, you can feel free to eat them whatever way you like. The Healthy Highlights and Recipe are as follows:
    Home Fried Potatoes
    1 Serving
    Healthy Highlights
    Cals=355 SatFat=8g Chol=30mg Sodium=143mg Carbs=30
    Fiber=2.5g Sugar=2g Protein=4.5g Net Carbs=27.5
    Ingredients
    Russet Potato (Sliced) 1 reg
    Vidalia Onion (Sliced) ¼ cup
    Mrs Dash-Garlic & Herb ¼ tsp
    Black Pepper (if desired) 1/16 tsp
    Onion Powder ¼ tsp
    Kosher Salt ⅛ tsp
    Crisco Blend 1 tbs
    Butter (Unsalted) 1 tbs
    Water ¼ cup
    Directions
    Peel, slice, rinse potatoes
    Pat them dry
    Add all seasonings , stir to coat well
    Add oil & potatoes to pan
    Cover & cook on medium heat for 2 minutes
    Flip potatoes, cover & cook for 2 minutes
    Stir in onions & margarine
    Cover & simmer for 3 minutes
    Stir & simmer for 3 more minutes
    Add water, cover & simmer for 3 minutes
    Enjoy!
