This kit has come on leaps and bounds since I built it... It never had the landing gear in my day! You mentioned the hours & weeks of your build, mine took from 1996 to 2023!!! Life got in the way, but I did get a 3rd Place Award for the 'something else' category at our local model group, which was my first ever model accolade, majorly chuffed. Nice lighting on yours, which adds a certain loveliness, and an inspiring build for me to re-visit this particular ship and build it in the landed position... Right onwards to the Phoenix
Phil, I've been watching and subscribed to your channel since Lou told me about you, way back when you were building the Oblivion Bubble Ship, Since then I have seen your skills improve exponentially and am very pleased to hear that you won a silver award at Wonderfest. CONGRATS !! P.S. : Continue to network with the greats, like Lou ,Wayne, Randy, Bill, Oggie, & Ken and you be bringing home lot more awards. "Take Care & Build Something" :)
Very nice job, Phil. Your blending work, I thought, was particularly good, and the beauty shot from directly above really highlighted that. I also really like your philosophy of doing it the way you want. These are fictional subjects for cryin' out loud! I'm building a "What if" right now and enjoying the freedom from counting rivets.
I enjoyed this build from start to finish-- I like your philosophy of taking a screen shot and adding some extra to that. Why not. The lighting is good-- I don't think the "floods" are floody enough. The metal legs are a response to the first couple of decades' worth of complaints that the styrene version was too weak and led to model collapse! But they do look good. I don't like your rock, Sir! Not rocky enough. But everything else is pretty cool.
I have the big Playmates (toy) version of this, which someone repainted pretty nicely. eBay find a while back. Can’t remember if the wings are adjustable… may have to go upstairs and try it. I prefer the look of them in the up position. (A few moments later…) Nope. Fixed in lower position. Boo. Hiss. Guess I’ll have to build one of these kits! Yay. Woo.
Hey Phil. I built the original (amt I think) Enterprise and Klingon Warship back sometime between 69 and 71I think. I was too young and carefree to be bothered with painting - they were toys to me, and they both ended up severely "battle damaged". The Enterprise saucer section ended up being a very short-lived frisbee 😂
One of the many things that I am not very good at is 'dry brushing'.... I have one of the wargaming Warhammer buildings, (Middle Earth, waterside/fishing vilage) buildings that I will get back to at some stage, but it really requires a lot of dry brushing,.... But other things get in the way and take over. ... I'm kind of learning as I go along, about getting the aged wood effect... I'm sure I'll get somewhere with it once I get my modeling MoJo back! Always good to watch you and Lou building your models. Well done with the Silver for you Dalek!
Fantastic build, probably one of the best kits Round2/AMT released. You could say screen accurate because I'm sure I read somewhere that the model was used in some DS9 episodes.
Hello Phil, excellent build. Had to search for this. Just finished building the K't'inga battle cruiser with lighting and was looking for idea's as to how to light this model next. It's given me some welcome pointers as to how to proceed. Many thanks and regards.
Another top notch build Phil love the lighting it's there but not in your face, you have given me an idea on getting the guns firing when i build mine i will look at replacing the barrels with tubing of the same diameter and thread fibre optics through them, looking at yours i think there's enough space to do that but a great build Phil, it really is
Hi Phil...i love what you did with the Bird of Prey...looks really sharp. Love the colors, lights, and the overall appearance. The lights were a nice touch as well. Another job well done. Im still working on the 350 enterprise refit...slow, and steady. Had a little set back with the shuttlebay cargo door decals...they fell apart on me, so i ordered replacements. Love the new opening, and closing as well. Looking forward to your next build, until then...be safe, be well, now build something. 😊
The funny thing is John laroquette dressed up as a Klingon on the tv show Night Court reboot. His comment on show was”there’s something familiar about this “ . For those not in on the joke he was the actor playing Maltz.
Nice work Phil. Have 2 of these in my stash, but always end up picking something else to build. Curious how long you spent in real time with this build.
I remember building this back in the day, I agree, with a little bit of fettling it's a nice-looking model, and the watch parts was a great shout
😉👌

Beautifully done, Phil!! You've given me many ideas for mine. Thanks for sharing your talents.
It really looks good🖖
Love this! This kit is definitely on my 'want' list 😀
PHIL you've turned out a fantastic version of the "Clingon Bird of Prey" well done.
Look forward to your next build.
very nicely done sir! Honor to your house!
Phil, really great one. Very well done and the Hollywood shots at the end are awesome. BTW great new opening and closing feature

Very cool. Really enjoyed that, and I can't wait to tackle that model after I get through my 2 1/350 Refits. Seems like a lot of fun.
Today is a great day to BUILD SOMETHING, Qapla'

You are very lucky it isn’t my pet rock!! I’d be insulted!😂👍🖖
Was great to meet you at Wonderfest , keep up the great work
Great meeting you! Until next time! Cheers!

Don’t ever worry about what and how you build anything - let your imagination take over and enjoy yourself!

For me this is one of the best ever, ever designs in science fiction. Happy Birthday to the Klingon BOP 1984-2024.
Your Bird of Prey is like me on a Friday night, it got lit. 😝
Another wonderful, beautiful build Phil. Insperational!
Thanks Ed!
Brilliant job phil.looks superb 👏🏻 👌

Thank you my friend! Very much appreciated! I agree there is a way to do but it will take a little bit of finessing. Cheers! Phil
I was thinking about getting this kit, thank you for sharing. Awesome channel
I built 3 of the Klingon Birds of Prey years ago.
Awesome - it’s a fun build!

Always intrigued never disapointed by this channel👍
Kaplah!
very enjoyable watch. job done good, thank you Phil
Very cool build 👍🏻👍🏻
Very cool 👍👍
This looks like another great model build .
Look forward to the next video.
But a question?
No lights in the guns?
Definitely thought about it but unfortunately I was pressed for time! Definitely lights in the guns would be a game changer!!
I watch another modellers build this and added beass tubing for the guns and I think even made them rotate.
Phil, please tell me we will hear the RKO pips on occasion 😊
Phil!!! You've never build a Klingon ship....maltz e cho e chew!!!!

Another enjoyable build. I miss the old opening, the new one looks too kidish? ending is great👍 When is the 1:600 Enterprise D build starting?
I’m a 62 year old kid! LOL!! Enterprise D build begins as soon as I finish the Phoenix from first contact. 🖖
@@sprueVerse Roger that. Looking forward to both!
Nice work Phil. Have 2 of these in my stash, but always end up picking something else to build. Curious how long you spent in real time with this build.
Two full weeks. Really enjoyed it!
👍🏻
Disruptors. Klingons use disruptors.
Awesome job Phil 👏
