  • Sandra was unable to get in or out of bed and could not take any steps following a massive stroke 6 months earlier which forced her to live in a nursing home under full care. After spending five weeks at Ability Camp she now has new freedom and can get out of bed, walk with a walker or cane and is returning to her own home!

Your story is quite inspirational! At 45 years of age, I suffered a massive hemorrhagic stroke in June 2014. The first few days, they were not sure whether or not I would survive. After that, I was told that if I was lucky I would be able to use a walker rather than a wheelchair.
I spent a total of 70 days in the hospital of that six weeks was a physical rehabilitation Hospital where I did physical, occupational and speech therapy. Although I still have some recovery to go, I am walking under my own power and after seven months of medical leave I will be returning to my full-time job this week.
My advice to folks is to put all their energy into their rehabilitation and let God worry about the things outside of our control.

7.5 years + 6 million steps later I'm still recovering but I have come such a long way. After going from bedridden to wheelchair to cane I can now walk on my own. Still recovering & still grateful. If you've had a stroke the worst thing you can do is just sit there. Remember "motion is lotion, rest is rust" go with God, you got this!

Well I dunno what's a massive strome because mine(feb 2020) was hemorragic and for those of you who can read this comment, I am 54 yrs old now.....my experiene is that your body will answer you when it will heal in order to recover certain functions; therapies are only guides...I walk in my home but not outside on the street or in a shopping mall my left arm is still hanging like 1st day without recovery...every case is different
