Thank you for posting your valuable videos online. My father in law recently had a stroke, and lives in an area of Canada where physiotherapists are not easily accessible. Your videos have helped us begin to improve his functional movement and mobility to improve his independence. Thank you for your willingness to share your knowledge. It has been a great asset.

Thanks for the advice and a very useful video, I had a " MILD !!! " stroke a month ago, I've been practicing Guitar & going on little walks , gradually doing more & more each day. I can tell you there's a light at the end of the tunnel ( PHYSICALLY) , to be honest, it's the emotional side that I've found the hardest to deal with. But I'm sure there's videos online that will give advice on coping mechanisms that are probably useful. I think it's a long road, so don't despair " easy to say, I was crying half an hour ago" so don't beat yourself up, keep trying & have a wonderful Christmas and a brilliant New year & remember thank God we're alive. PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.

Awesome video, wrote a little abstract and I'll sure hoped that i got it right.
    *3 Exercises*
    1. 2:20 Functional "Sit and Stand"
    2. 4:05 "Adjusted" Squad
    3. 5:08 Lunge
    Some Hints:
-Put the focus / weight on the weak or affected leg. Feel free to mark it.
-Exercises from easy to more advanced.(supreme discipline would be number 3, the lunge)
    -10 Repetitions
-Posture. Feel free to train infront of a mirror.

So happy I found this. My mom had a stroke 5 years ago and lost quite a bit of mobility in her neck. In the last 6 months she has made tremendous progress in her recovery and has started speaking and walking better than ever. We are trying to help her and stimulate her all we can. I think her nurse can modify these exercises for balance and strength. My question is can anything be done to help her regain mobility in her neck? It seems frozen. Thanks again for doing this work. It is so helpful and appreciated.

I’m a male 60 yrs ,and I was paralyzed for 1 1/5 yrs from neck down from guillaen barre syndrome after5yrs i can now walk with an elbow walker dashway brand it’s the best very strong n stable the way I got my hips strong was with Kafo braces and had somebody build me 40 foot long parallel bars built for my wrist height. After 2yrs now I only use Afos with the dashaway walker and I walk as much as I can with my knees bent trust me urs hips will get very strong, and if u use an underwater treadmill n walk with knees bend ull get knees and hips strong costly though not covered by insurance it’s like 60$ for half hr.Advice don’t give up,if theirs a will theirs a way.

    • @houndsmanone4563
      @houndsmanone4563 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yes, absolutely. It's been 3.5 years since my stroke and I still do similar leg strengthening exercises. What you don't do to strengthen your weak leg will ultimately place more stress on your stronger leg and that can make the stronger leg have issues. Just just don't stop. I was 68 when I had my stroke and I'm now 71-ish and I still do various exercises to strengthen the weak leg. It may sound like a long time but when it comes to healing, it's not long at all. Bet to you. @@aryanaly6345

My leg and foot have nerve damage from a herniated disk (surgery 5 yrs ago, full feeling didn't return) anyways.... can weakness from nerve damage be strengthened?? Its not too, too bad... most don't notice that one foot "lags" a bit....but I feel it, and when I am tired or not wearing shoes I limp a little. I sorta of just make myself walk without limping..well more of a waddle...which is even worse. No Dr has recommended PT for it...they just shake their heads and say ..."Thats too bad" . Anyhoo...Thanks for the videos, been watching them a bunch for my back, and knees. Very helpful.

I had a massive stroke almost 3 yre ago. At first I was in rehab place but insurance quit me after a couple of months so they left me to rot, then the place gave a lot of people food poisoning one day and I threw up so much, I didn't know that a person could vomit like that it just kept going I lost 30 pounds I got my one daughter to get me outta there but she has a lazy doesn't want to work husband and they kept me in a room for over a year, I had to get outta there, so I pleaded with my one older sister to come get me, now I am getting up and practicing standing the stroke affected not only my left side but my speech was taken can get out some words but not talk, I have a lifeglider it's kinda of a walker but a seatbelt across the front and a seat and I stand opposite of a regular walker learning only now to walk. I have two floor cycles a side to side one and a regular one what I'm saying is if you are determined enough and willing to work at it you can come back from it. The rest of my family abandoned me from the start but I have never given up

I had a massive stroke 30th January 2023 first 3 weeks I was completely paralized on left side I was in hospital 7 weeks 2 weeks before I was discharged I could walk with a walker but I started to have sevre pain in my left side bottom bone. I could not sit it felt like I had a big orange of pain around the bottom bone. Nothing was done about it in hospital. After hospital my gp could see how much pain I was in referred me to a pysio and this pysio didn't do anything on first visit he requested all my ct scans & ultrasound scan of my bottom bone. 2nd visit with pusio he said he understands what is wrong I also have a misaligned pelvis which came from birth . Pysio massaged the tight muscles in bottom bone then he did a few stretches with left leg, I'm left with goldfish syndrome my memory is very bad now so I carnt remember everything he did but I remember he lifted my left leg up to he's shoulder & pulled from very bottom of my leg by the end he would stand me up and I was straight on both sides left & right . I straight away could walk without limping I seen this pysio for 6 weeks by then I was walking as normal as everyone else , if I had to I think I could have ran and pain in my bottom bone was cut in more than half. My pysio then told me he was leaving & moving north to Gold Coast area in Australia so I started to see another pysio at the same clinic , she didn't do what my first pysio did & she hurt me badly not only was bottom bone pain back but my toes went numb no feeling in them so I went to another pysio that hurt me again & after half of my foot was numb no feeling . The pain is so horrific & I had trouble finding a pysio that specialises in after stroke pain she hadn't hurt me & studied all my scans she gave me very light excersises but I cannot do the excersises causing more pain I've been in absolute horrific pain every day I cannot sit carnt stand for long and I've been in this pain for nearly 12 months now & I feel like the first pysio was the only one that was helping me & understood what was wrong I feel like the others are just guessing at what's wrong & hurting me more. Pain killers aren't helping I'm finally on a pain killer that works a bit better than the others they tried me on but the dose is not high enough seeing my gp about that tomorrow.
But I carnt do another 12 months living with this pain. I'm not having any life at all I've pushed family away cause I don't think they understand I carnt cope with visitors as I'm not even coping with myself can you help or give me any excersises to help me please

I am 45 years old with mild cerebral palsy on my left side. I also broke my left knee cap 11 years ago. The older I get I feel like my weakness is more pronounced and my balance is not what it used to ( I get very nervous climbing up bleachers) I think these exercises should help. My mobility is not an issue. Any ideas to help me gain balance and strength? I can climb stairs but have trouble stepping up on anything higher than 6inches. I feel too young to act this old.

I've been going to an exercise class for older people but it's too generalised to do anything for my weak left leg. Thank you so much for these exercises which I'm confident will help. BTW what do you think of the visual imagining technique used by injured athletes? D'you reckon it would help in stroke recovery?
