I'm just gonna say it here and now, the king crab carapace with four LB-10X SLD and two srm 2 is the best mech in the game, I am getting one shot kills on panthers that have so much overkill that it destroys the back armor as well as front armor and the CT structure, meaning it punched a hole all the way through both sides on the mech, it's ripping the arms off of banshees in two volleys, and chain fire with them is so satisfying

That Treb is ridiculous with it's speed Replace missiles with SRM4 and use reg medium lasers. Stack heat sinks, armor and just keep the throttle maxed out. As a brawler it's insane. I got this early in the game.
Sure, that King Crab could equip four LB10-X SLD and it'd be awesome. But, for the lulz, it could also equip four Tier 5 Heavy Rifles. That's almost 100 instantanous damage, with high accuracy...
@@Bassstring Well the SLD is by far the best Ballistic weapon in the game, so it's a bit of an unfair comparison. Thankfully Heavy Rifles don't fire often and are very light so you can cram a lot of Heat Sinks into the mech, so the heat is quite manageable. They're by no means very good weapons, but they're... fun.
the archer agc is really fun for running pure srm build. ive used it all the way through the late game, with its speed, you can out maneuver all the assaults mechs and literally pick them apart. I spend all of my upgrade points on movement nd turning speed. its super fun.
It is I got it in game yesterday, it was a chain mission to retrieve it as some friend of your dad's left it to him/you. In one of the missions you get to see two ancient Union dropship wrecks which were part of Kerinsky's fleet when he left the IS systems.
@@jeffcavanaugh6137 I just continued my campaign from when I had played through xbox game pass (I'm on steam version now). So when I got in game with the DLC I had a bunch of communications and I just excepted them all. They did have a range of merc rep on them so I guess if you are starting a fresh game then yeah they probably are offered to you based on your units rep level.
I love that little Locust she is a joy to play with. I just upgraded some of the small lasers and you really don't even need the heatsinks I've never had her over heat at all.

So, a build I want you to try on that King Crab hero eventually TTB. Because I think you should really look at the stats on Heavy Rifles one more time lol. Heavy Rifles can fit in medium slots. So you put two in each arm. Even lvl 1 Heavy Rifles do 18 dmg pinpoint each. Now, imagine four of them on there. Imagine if they were lvl 4 versions where the dmg and cooldowns are even better. They even have good range too so they're not just for brawling. Sure, you deal with the cooldown as the one main drawback of the Heavy Rifle, but the higher the lvl of them the shorter the cooldown gets and I mean....it's bare minimum 72 dmg pinpoint with four in the arms. Imagine the mechs you can core in one or two shots with that build. Who the hell cares about cooldown at that point! You have to try this build dude.

I think Burst Fire is far more effective at hitting targets because if you time it right before a mech comes into your lock all shells will hit even if it moves away
I generally agree with jump jet removal…except on the Vulcan and the Enforcer. Some of their effectiveness is tied up in their mobility. A mech that can jump behind you, armed with a Gauss rifle, can ruin your day. Only other comment would be to keep the LRMs in several of these mechs. Brawling is fine, but if your mech is half dead by the time you get into range, what was the point in removing the ability to strike at long range? I’ve seen the Dragon in combat. That is one dangerous mech! Do is the King Crab (and the name of it is Carapace).
Gosh! It hurts to see that I am not familiar by heart with any of these mechs I knew before playing MWO, with the exception of the Orion I've seen from Mechwarrior 3 and Zeus from Mechcommander 2. Now that I noticed, I think I'm more familiar with most of Clan mechs.
That Rifleman is the only one of those heavies I don't have. And know that I see it is dual gauss I want it more. I haven't found a K2 pult yet but I'm just gonna assume it is restricted to MG only so I can't make dual gauss pult like I have in MWO. Update: I know have the Corsair. Im super late game and that locust is my fucking child. I have 2 level 5 light rifles on it and i just run around at stupid speeds capping cabins, arty, satellites, helis, tanks, turrents, and pulling agro from my friends without getting scratched. I get around 80-100 shots depending on how scandalous my armour bikini is on a particular mission and it is usually far more than enough to get a few mech kills and to save my other mechs from pests. It is a beautiful mech if youre okay with it slaloming thru your atlas's toes at the start of every sortie

I find Jump jets are far more Useful in the BattleTech Video game than they are in MW5. Almost all of my mechs in BT have JJs. They just make for easy manoeuvring and flanks.
Is there any way to get a heavy/assault mech early in the campaign? I'm rank 8 with enough $$, I've explored the map but no luck so far. I keep getting the same light/medium mechs everywhere..
Look at the reputation or difficulty level. Go to a higher level market, or to a higher level conflict area, but try to make sure you have decent reputation on that planet or you will pay through the nose.
@@Marcoffs83 mech drops appear to be RNG. I found an Atlas and Highlander at level 6. But then haven't seen either of them since and I'm level 11 now. My first assault was an Anni I found at level 8. My friend found a Marauder 2 when he was level 7. I've had times where I was seeing the same mech at every hub, and then it vanishes.
Im having a hard time finding double heat sinks in the game other then on hero mechs im in the 80s difficulty right now are they only found in the higher difficuly range missions. Where can i find them.
I believe certain technologies only become available at industrial hubs after specific points in the timeline. don't know when that would be for double heatsinks (haven't played that far myself yet), but I know that before a certain date they were considered lostech in the inner sphere, so not buyable.
It should be noted, always check the market when you hit a new planet. Also, don't forget to check your salvage. I've got 50 or so in storage and everything in my lances has them installed.
I got the Corsair COR-PVT. It appears to have hidden built-in ammo because it is always telling me 'Weapons missing for ammo types: LRM Ammo, Heavy Rifle Ammo' despite removing both
The hero Treb is trash, honestly. Made the mistake of running it as a CQC setup and it got consistently out fought, even by lights. I'd recommend ignoring it. Edit: Archer AGC is a MONSTER srm boat. 4xsrm6 and 2xsrm4 just annihilates enemies. Had a fight with multiple Victors in CQC and kicked their respective asses.
I disagree on the hero trebutchet, but it requires a high skill ceiling to devastate with it. You move really fast and the best way to devastate is to lock-on, quickly get behind the mech and as soon as you are behind it blast it with the full SRM payload. The speed that you move at makes it impossible for them to keep up with you, especially true if you upgrade it further. Using that strategy I've taken down Zeus's and Orion's while taking almost no damage to any of my lance. The AMS further empowers this by making sure you don't have to worry about them using tracking missiles while you are far away.
@@Xogroroth666 SRM's are the way to go if your stuck with missile mounts you dont like. srm4 or srm6. Its basically a close/medium range shotgun at that point. They hold a decent amount of ammo, and do good damage to medium and lights.

I consider that a strong hint that there will be a dlc for that. if the game developers are smart, they could even make two dlcs out of that. first dlc lets you play as clans in the same timeline as the current game, basically the years leading up to the invasion looked at from the clan perspective. then a second dlc starting in 3049 that brings both sides together.

I had just come up with the idea, because I thought it might be interesting to play a Mechwarrior game where you can experience the Clan side during the build up phase of the invasion instead of after they started it (interesting at least from a story telling perspective), but you are right, running merc unit and being Clanner doesn't fit very well :-)
Eh, I find it to be kinda disappointing. It is fast which is nice but it doesn't carry any heavy or large weapons to really bring that "Oomph" that other 100 tonner bring, and 6 MPL's run a bit too hot to be your primary weapon unless you got a load of DHS to spare.
Has anybody noticed yet that the lights in the mech inspection screen are different from the ones in the hangar? Completely different lighting effects. PGI managed to make a bigger mess out it instead of fixing it.
So basically we got a watered down version of Mercs Reloaded or Merctech moda we played forthe past 12 months or so for the cost of axing out compatibility with all mods in general. Furthermore we now seem to have received a 1.0 release of the game given the size of the update it downloaded before I even bought the DLC despite the fact we all paid full price for it (those who bought it on Epic). On top of that if modding scene moves to Steam Workshop most of us will either need to accept the lackluster vailla on Epic or fork out for another full price copy on steam. This game is at best a 5/10 after fruits of developers labor over last 12 months were added to it recently. Thank the maker modding scene will bounce back.

The Archer is the Agincourt. I played the quest chain that gives it and that's how they refer to it.
The big thing about the hero treb for me is the top speed of 105 kph. That's insane for a medium. Great hunter killer

I run the king crab with just uac 5s and lots of ammo. You can literally never stop firing and you just blow things apart.
Dual UAC20s or quad UAC10s is overkill, literally. It does more damage than needed.

Heat is too much an issue with the heavy rifle(s). Just use the lb10-x-sld, works great.

DNA is really good for the headshots. Surviving is a problem though.
On the Zeus-SK that LL is a trap. Mech runs very hot in any biome. Just drop it for a ML+DHSs and you will have more fun running it.

Crab is Carapace per Mark Nicholson. Though I feel Carnage is more fitting lol

Double heat sinks are lostech and incredibly rare, you'll never find a ton of them but I've gathered a handful here and there.

Ahh, I found the ZEU-SK for sale. For me it was at Algorab, in the Federated Commonwealth west of Terra. In 3061 if that matters.
