    When this game first came out I didn’t even want to try it, because of all the mainstream people doing negative reviews, saying it was too simple and all that. I saw it on gamepass these days and thought: hey, wouldn’t hurt just trying it out. Man, I wish I’ve played this before, it is such a great game, so much customization and strategy involved, I’m loving this so much! Thanks for the video as well!

      Funny thing I saw a bunch of reviews saying it’s was too complicated and too hard when I downloaded it today to try it out and I agree with you it’s a pretty good game wasn’t expecting it tbh

      AI spawning right behind you was the biggest issue for me, I bought the game on Epic Games store so I could mod the game, modders fixed all the issues and could customise exactly how much you get rewarded from side missions, made the game a lot less of a grind.

      It's soooo much better now than on release.
      I played it fairly early and it was kinda trash, they've improved spawns immensely and AI lancemate behavior, lots of quality of life improvements. It's fun now and that's not something I could say before.

      you woudnt want to play it at release, trust me. The gamepass is the ''fixed version'' of the game. the vanilla game its a mess with out any mods.

    I've played through this game like 3 times now, here's some stuff I've learned:
    1. If you're going to do Demolition missions, expect to take more damage than you would on, say, a Defense mission. I like to do the Cantina jobs and Demo missions are a good one to do Treasure Hunter jobs on. You can usually go find the treasure package before you aggro the base, without having to fight much of anything. Also, on Demo missions, I usually buy 1-2 air strikes of available. Two air strikes is often overkill, but in the heavier weight classes, your mechs are slow and you'll need to get the base destroyed that much faster. The air strikes might not be the most money-efficient way to take down a base, but they make the base destruction part of your job way quicker, so you take less damage, in theory. One air strike can do like 25% or more of the damage to the base for you, which is a lot, and in some cases its like 50% when you get lucky.
    2. Warzone missions are good ones to help you complete the Wardog Cantina jobs. You can destroy stuff to complete the mission, then stick around and fight more waves of badguys, and hopefully they'll throw more VTOLs, Harassers, Missile Carrier tanks, etc at you as part of those waves. This makes that "Kill 25 Harasser" go faster. Having said that, the heavier the weight limit of the mission, the more mechs they throw at you and this means probably fewer tanks, so I tend to expect ths adds to be tanks and VTOLs in the 200-300 ton range and more mechs in the heavier weight class missions.. And be careful because by the time you've racked up like 500k worth of additional kills, you will eventually have to face the inevitable "you better run now" fight where they drop more stuff on you than you're really able to handle. THE easiest Cantina jobs to do are the "Kill X VTOLs" jobs, because it's usually only like 8 VTOLS and you can get all 8 of them in one mission often enough.
    3. The vast majority of Cantina jobs that require you to "collect X number of mechs/weapons of a given type" end up being completed if and only if you either A) have the required stuff in inventory already, or B) have enough C-Bills to buy the stuff they want you to give them. These jobs generally cost you more money than they give you back when you complete them, for this reason, but that's not to say that they're to be completely avoided. If there's an upgrade you want in that track, you can work your way up to it, but it will probably cost you money to do so. That said, you might also want the guns/stuff they're going to give you too, so there's that.
    4. In my experience, the "Collect X number of Mechs of a SPECIFIC variant" Cantina jobs are not worth pursuing. The stuff they will promise you looks great, but the job is just short of impossible to actually do and will definitely cost you C-Bills to complete it.
    5. When you do a Beachhead mission, there will generally be some number of artillery guns on the map that you do not see on the battlegrid until they start shooting at you. Annoyingly, even THEN there may be MORE artillery guns that they're keeping in reserve that won't start shooting at you until later on. I personally like to sweep the ENTIRE map for those artillery guns first, before doing anything else, and I try to avoid the main base while doing this, but I do take out the satellite uplinks where possible. Once you're sure you've gotten all of the artillery, you can then proceed to finish off any satellite uplinks you didn't destroy while you were hunting down the artillery guns. THEN you can proceed to take down the base and wait for the wave or two of adds to arrive and blast them. Also, while you're doing the sweep for artillery, the artillery will be shooting at you. Your mech needs to have a speed of at least 64kph to be able to outrun the artillery guns, so don't take any of the slow 40 KPH Atlases etc for this type of mission, I prefer a good Battlemaster, personally.
    6 Upgrading mechs is pretty expensive, so I'd save it for the heavy and assault mechs you intend to use from like level 8 through the end of the game. I always max out the armor and structure with my upgrades, because it helps keep lancemates alive linger and they lose less components that way, one hopes.
    7. When you put a weapon on an arm, you're risking losing it when that arm get's shot off, which happens WAY more often than getting torso weapons destroyed. I generally like to have at most a replaceable medium laser or SRM 4 on the arm, or maybe a large laser. I will sometimes play the high-risk game of mounting two really good guns on a special mech like a Victor Basilisk or a Corsair, but that's the exception to the rule, and even then I only put those loadouts on mechs I personally will drive. Lancemates should only ever be given mechs with cheap, easily replaceable weapons on the arms, and then maybe better ones on the torso.
    9. If you put a mech in cold storage, you will not have to pay the freight on it when traveling around, but doing this stripes the mech bare and removes all Upgrades you might have had on it, and replacing those upgrades is really costly, and takes a long time, so I would recommend NOT cold-storing any mech that you've done upgrades on, and therefore I would not do upgrades on any mech that you're not going to use for a long time, which is basically your favorite heavy and assault mechs.
    10. When doing Defense missions, try as hard as you can to avoid actually going into the base itself, because you and your lancemates will destroy parts of it as you trample through on your way to the fight. For this reason, Defense missions tend to favor faster mechs with longer range weapons so you can hit stuff without having to run through the base to do so.

    Another good tip for Destroy missions if you don't want to lug around MG and Flamers. You can use your own mech as a wrecking ball by running at buildings/over structures. With the exception of walls most things will be destroyed on impact and you can keep charging through without taking damage.
    Also Air strikes. They really are not necessary in missions but they help if used right. A single air strike can flatten a base and heavily damage mechs inside its perimeter.

    An exception to your repair in conflict zone exception: It can still be beneficial to repair mechs if the overall cost and time is less then what you made in a mission so your still in the black. Doubly so if you're in a multi-drop mission set. On top of that, max 3 drops is generally the best as by the point you can do these you should have enough mech to grab a fresh lance for each mission or repair the first batch for the final mission.
    ANOTHER THING: Cantina Collection missions don't care if you've grabbed the required item as salvage or as store items. So you can game the system a bit by just buying the required items and just completing the quest to get the mech quirks for more customized mechs.

    I've been playing MW since MW2 came out on Playstation 1 and every one since on PC, I absolutely love this series, and I'm _fairly_ happy with this game. It's got it's quirks and I can see it being a little repetitive for people who don't love it though, the mission design is a little, shall we say, condensed. I think a bit more story telling and scripted scenes would have benefitted the game greatly, they start the game out with this badass CGI cutscene that leaves MW junkies drooling then sprinkle in a few generic story missions where you do _exactly_ what you did in _every single other mission._ Like I said, I love the game and I'm not giving up on it but it could have been so much more. And damnit I want to see some timeline progression, where's the Clan mechs and weapons at? They were a goal to work towards, endgame OP powerhouses that wiped the field. I want my Mad Cat MkII AC boat like I had in MW4 mercs, I used to smear anything that came at me if I could get in close without being sniped in online play, it had (I think🤔) two AC20's and three AC10's, either that or one AC20 and two AC10's, can't actually remember off the top of my head, it's been a while lol. Anyways, I want my Clan mechs damnit!🤣

      Or just omni points, plus if you have a large slot you should be able to put multiple weapons in that slot. Just saying it would make sense if you have room for an A/C 20 there should be room for multiple A/C 10's, 5's, or 2's.

    • @bogeydope3022
      @bogeydope3022 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KP762a Nope, MGs generally strip mech armor like crazy, even on heavy mechs. I've played the hardest missions with a Hero Blackjack with 6 fully upgraded MGs, one Large SP Laser and two medium Lasers. This thing will strip ANY mech of it's armor in two 360 mg bursts, then my lance with it's heavy guns take em out with 2-3 good placed shots on the torso.
      Flamers on the other hand are made to overheat the enemy mech, they won't deal that much of damage but can be a major harassment for laser based mechs especially when there a two or more agile mechs with flamers.

    Another good tip is that the starter Centurion CN9-A is a very good medium mech in early game for those who want a heavy-mech feel, and holds its own even later down the line. I've only seen a few others who can match it in free tonnage (after max armor) and decent hardpoints. (Some of those are the Hunchback, Trebuchet, and Vindicator). Running an AC-10, 2 M Lasers, and a SRM-6 ST works very nice. It's slow, but most heavy mechs you'll get into later are the same speed, so it feels like a smooth transition from any CN9 to a heavy.

    best tip i can give is play instant action a lot. Play with all the combinations you can make, and try all mechs and weapons aavailable. Do this so you can learn how all mechs can work, wich ones are usefull for certain situations, wich ones are garbage, wich ones work better when you are using them and wich ones are better when your lance is using them. In that way you can get an idea of wich mechs and weapons you have to buy instead of spending tons of money on mechs that arent as useful as they look at first.

    I just started playing this Friday. Somehow I missed that it was available on Xbox One. My main problem is the movement. I played the computer mechwarrior games several years ago as well as the Mech Assault games on the original Xbox. I've also played a lot of War Robots over the last few years. All of those games moved better than this one. The way the legs keep turning instead of just moving you in the direction you want to go is frustrating as hell and nowhere near as seamless as things used to be. Are there any control options i'm missing to change that? I'm using the arm lock option because otherwise you get these radical swings with the target reticle when the legs rotate past a certain point. Also, for the love of God, why has Xbox never done additional sequels to MechAssault??? That seemed like a no brainer.

    • @vederianl9723
      @vederianl9723 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I dont use a controller so I cant talk about that. Just a reminder that your torso twists independant of the legs. Arm lock is allright if you dont have arm weapons. Arms have a greater range of movement letting you shoot higher or further to the side.

    • @mikea4169
      @mikea4169 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      there is an option to enable auto centering, where it tends to move your torso where you are walking, That was added to help for controller play, think its called counter rotation in the options. might help i think

    A few MUST HAVE mods there are in the category "Why there is not in the game?":
    * Xenopax Optimization + Xenopax Art Optimization = free FPS boots without any visual changes. Game is not greatly optimized and modders are fixing that!
    * TTrulez AIMo - improves enemy's and ally's AI. Should be in the game by default!
    * Mech Attribute Viewer - self explanatory. Once you've installed it - you could not live without it!
    * PurchaseSalvage - you could purchase salvage at the end of the missions. DO NOT make game easier but less frustrating!
    * StarMapMouseOver - adds information on the star map about jobs when you mouse over it. Saves SO much time!
    * Mod Options - mod so other mods could work properly.
    If you REALLY don't like mods - install just optimization ones ;-)

    • @THEGRUMPTRUCK
      @THEGRUMPTRUCK 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It can work, but SRMs and AC20 have the same range profile, so you're pretty much guaranteed to hit with both at 270 meters. This game tends to favor brawling over range a lot of the time, and SRM/AC20 is one of the highest damage combos in the game, SRM missiles do a ton of damage and that ramps up with an AC, often enough to either completely strip armor off of heavier mechs in 1-2 shots or even outright kill smaller and lighter mechs outright. LRMs not being able to fire if the enemy is within a certain range of you heavily stunts their damage output, as a lot of times if an enemy wants to get close, they often do.

    • @Vimeous
      @Vimeous 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you also done missions where your preferred faction was the enemy? If so this will reduce your reputation.
      Good reputation gives you better job rewards, cheaper equipment and Mechs. However it may limit the missions you want to take as you strive not to annoy your preferred employer (such is the life of a Mercenary).
      Getting the balance right is personal choice but a good rule of thumb is to get a single faction up to a high level. Then you can occasionally take jobs against them without loosing all the benefit you worked hard to build-up.
      Tip: Before you jump to a planet read the planet information. If all the enemy mechs found there belong to your favourite employer the missions will be against them. You might want to find a different planet to visit.

      If you're getting the "Equipped Weapons have no ammo" warning, it means that there is not slotted ammo in the 'Mech build.
