I love the Archer, I wish there were more version in this game. You can give it to nearly any pilot and it'll deal out damage and come back to the mech bay nearly unscratched.
hehe i think the time period they chose for the start of the game is interresting, given we dont have LB-20-X yet or UAC-10s etc, and tbh, im somewhat happy they went with focus more on what hardpoints we get, rather than just limit it by type and avaiable slot (like eg MWO does) this prevents cheesy builds and instead make us focus on the versatility based on the different Chassis and Variants of the mechs ^^
I get your point but I disagree because it doesn't make sense. I should be able to fit multiple small weapons in the space a large weapon fits. This only hurts brawlers which already have to close the gap to do damage.
After this vid has done its rounds, versatility of variants wouldn't matter cause most mechs won't generate interest. Cheese still is a big part of generating said interest. IMHO BT and MW had it backwards. BT should have been variant dependent and MW custom savvy.
@@PeferG17 , lore wise this does not make sense. Mechtechs would not be able to reconfigure one large hardpoint into multiple smaller hardpoints because that would need rerouting of the mech's internal systems or installing a splitter, and by all accounts, it's much harder than installing a wall plug. Mechtechs are considered competent if they can just pull out and plug in weapons
@@countpuchi to my knowledge that has never been officially said, but given as the timeline of the game plays you toward the clan invasions i feel very safe in the assumption they will have a clan wars DLC. but if they implement it the correct way none of it will be available ingame until playing to a point of time as the Clan wars begin or have you start a new game in the clan wars from the start.
in the game files there are many clan things not implemented, so maybe they will be added by the developers, or maybe with some modding they can be added by the community (you can view the files with Unreal Engine)
The Clans haven't shown up yet. You will a be able to get a Timber Wolf if you can salvage one. Unfortunately a lot of mercenary companies are going to be obliterated all go bankrupt before they figure out how to fight the Clans effectively
The first book i red from Battletech was the Warriors Trilogy, so Legend Killer has a special place in my heart! I have rep 14 right now but i cant find it... Also i want Clan expansion, and Solaris Arena expansion! Wich were present in MW4, i think, i dont know if i remember correctly
Wish they could include the one Catapult that had twelve, count them, twelve double heatsinks in it. That would be a find. CPLT-c1b is the name of that one.
So question, maybe I’m remembering the table top wrong but I feel like I remember that any variant of the standard AC/5 was defined as doing 5 damage, either with a single round or burst fire that added up to 5 damage. Is that the case in MW5? Or is the Burst Fire AC/5 doing 5 damage per shot?
This game differs from table top fairly significantly! Burst fire AC's will always do slightly more damage than their counterparts but its harder to focus the damage. Also, weaponry above level 1 also increases damage so that a lvl 4 AC5 actually does about 7 damage per hit!
i just realise that the CPLT-BB can run the Stalker Brawler setup, 4 Meds and 4 SRM6s, but 20 ton less weight and even jump capable >_< very cool ^^ oh and wasnt one of the CTF-X variants with Jumpjets lore wise? or was that a MWO invention?
btw, in lore the LBX-10-X is a weapon that can switch between solid and spread ammo, but here its either/or, so that makes me wonder one thing: whats the diff between an aC-10 and a LB-10-X-SLD then? its both AC-10's with solid ammo then, or ?
It might have to be a mod that is done to switch between cluster and slug ammos in game for that like in HBS Battletech. I asked if we could switch in battle during the AMA and they said they would only do cluster rounds, so I think the slug version came from that.
It's currently set prior, with the timeline in game pausing right before the invasion. However, I wouldn't rule out a future expansion or DLC to add to that timeline to play through invasion events.
I want to know that too. And if there are any mechs that have slots for JJs but do not come with them in the stock loadout. Or is it ALWAYS that the stock loadout it using the max of all slots available?
Jump jets require specific jj slots. You cannot add more jj than the stock load out already has. It is possible to remove jj to free up weight but you cannot put ammo or heatsinks in jj slots
You can only switch weapons that are in the same or smaler size category. There is no mech that breaks this rule. Examples: - stock machine gun can be replaced only with AC2 as both weapons are considered as "smal" ballistics. - a hardpoint that comes stock with an AC20 or gauss rifle is always a "large" hardpoint that can hold any ballistic weapon you like - a medium hardpoint with a AC5 can be upgraded with Ultra AC5 or a AC10 as all three weapons are of the "medium" category and you can put in the smaler machine gun and AC2 but never equip a AC20 or gauss rifle
@@Gorthek1 Well that sucks. That makes a lot of mech variants objectively inferior. It's going to end up meaning that the only canon Dragon worth having is the 1N.
Oh my fucking beloved christ.. this game.. DO NOT USE anything with ballistics in the arms. Tried to use the jagermech, arms are immediately focuesed by the multiple AI spawning one meter away from you, having range is pointless and you are gonna lose expensive equipment in two seconds. Use only mechs that have medium lasers in arms.

Still waiting for a mechwarrior game with superheavy mech. You can put laser or any thing and vice verse into a missile slot in the original lore so this is a bad design game.
All the differences for the variants are incomplete as the weapon loadout isn't the only thing that changes. Just reading weapons is just bad.Different armor and ammunition is the reason why some variants seem weaker. You need to check the detailed view to explain that. Burst fire weapons split their damage as described in the lore
