This whole presentation is just great. Love the laughter, the comments from the camera man, the causal back and forth, and all the tips. Delightful! I'm thinking I might try this. So far I’ve just been playing around with my watercolors to become more familiar with the techniques.
I just want to say thank you Sarah Cray! I really appreciate your tutorials. I'm a pandemic painter (no experience with painting before this, except messing around with my Tombow markers) and with your help I have actually been able to paint things that I'm proud of. This will be my 23rd tutorial of yours since mid-May. :-)
Thanks Sarah and Al! Fun project. My 6 year old, Hannah, watched part of the time because she gets so much joy watching me paint. I think she and her brother, Amos, plan on doing this one later on!
We LOVE that painting in your family is a bonding experience. That is awesome. Please tell Hannah & Amos we say "hi" and we hope that they enjoy painting this project.
I just made this for a friend who loves elephants, it turned out so well and she loved it! Thank you so much for all the effort you put into these videos ❤
I love when you said “we like to water with color”! Made me laugh so hard....then I had to go back and listen to it several times!! Love your tutorials!! ❤️
AMAZING, FUNNY, MODERN.... please keep going with these improbable drawings and paintings.... u will keep the diference... (I have a lot of fun with your dialogue ... you guys are very funny, lol).... thanks. MJ
Use watercolor pencil for tracing? Will disappear when color is added .i’m a card maker and will use a mermaid stamp and give her. Watercolor coming off her tail!! 🌷💫
We recently discovered ur channel and the kits ordering a couple. However we’d like to paint along outside the kits with our Newton Windsor colors but it’s hard to discern the true colors considering both the unusual uncommon color names used by Dr Phil’s as well as how the screen can make colors look different. We’ve already gotten not so good results trying to guess color matches. It would be super helpful if color names such as ultramarine blue, Quin Red, or even primary pigment could be briefly mentioned when noting colors in these fun painting tutorials. Thx!
Do you have any tips on what pencil to use to get the initial outline? I keep seeing my pencil lines after I have painted....by the way, I am OBSESSED with your channel! Please dont ever leave!
Sarah uses a butcher tray for her paints. You can find them on our website here: www.letsmakeart.com/products/butcher-tray-palette-medium another great option is to use a ceramic plate. We wouldn't want you to waste any of you paint when mixing colors. The great thing about these palates is that you can come back and use any leftover paint for another project by just adding a little water.
Hi Melissa! You can find the outline on the project page here: www.letsmakeart.com/products/rainbow-elephant-watercolor-paint-kit -- Scroll down to the bottom and there will be an OUTLINE button. :)
Be sure that you are drawing the lines as light as possible! Then, if you would still like to lighten them up a bit, I would recommend using a kneaded rubber eraser. These are super cool and can be formed into any shape! Just tap the eraser over the lines and it will pick up some of the graphite. We sell them on our website here: www.letsmakeart.com/products/kneaded-rubber-erasers
Quick question: do you use cold pressed or hot pressed paper? How do you get the paper not to warp while you paint? I don't see that it's taped anywhere! I love it :)
I use cold press (xl Canson). This paper is not the thickest but it works for me and it is a great price. The reason why mine doesn't warp as much is I am painting on the pad - so one side is glued down. If I had one sheet of paper then I would probably use tape so it wouldn't warp :)
Ay yo Al needs to calm down tbh Im going to paint this for my mother in law for her birthday, thankyou for the tutorial, exactly what i was looking for
No matter how hard I try mine still looks splotchy. I have trouble blending I have watched all the videos for beginners and I’m still struggling. Am I over thinking.
Hi Mita! Sarah has done a few negative paintings. You might want to watch Daisy Delight: www.letsmakeart.com/pages/daisy-delight-project or Dandelion: www.letsmakeart.com/pages/dandelions-project

I just painted this last night and it was so fun - what is the type of pallet you are using? I’ve been using paper plates and it soaks it up.

I dont have any luck with This canson xl paper! I'm about to throw it out the window! Lol
OMG love it 😍
Wow! It's amazing! What watercolor paper do you use??
I had a very difficult time with this as a fairly new beginner this was not the one to start with. Do you have any new beginner kits?
❤❤
Hi! Love this! Is there any way to hide the pencil lines? What if you don't want the pencil line to show?

Try using a bit more water to blend out your colors...
Tornadoes and hurricanes are different. And Rainbify is not a word. I googled it. Comes up as a hashtag from you guys. 😂
Is flappy a technical term? 😆😉😊
