Hey Sarah and team - if you're seeing this, thank you so much for all the work you put into this. I've been following along and trying to paint and I've never found a channel as simple and effective as yours. It makes me so happy to try, so thank you!

The imperfections of my blind contours ...I can completely live with. The improvements that Sarah's sketches to the page afterwards....I can not come close to! Yet, lol. They are depth, they are yummy!!

Sarah, this is tremendously helpful. No sooner had I started watercolour than I was at the verge of giving up, wanting to play but not really knowing how to. Shall continue. You're a fabulous teacher. 👌

Wow! Just looked up that artist! My eye hurt.. you did such a good job explaining the "breathing" in comparison to his work!!! The one you created is so beautiful!

@Let’s Make Art: I saw the painting and I was like: oh! That looks fun to make. Easy abstract, simple line and wash, yeah, I can do that.
The Sarah starts talking about the rules of wabi-sabi drawings and no looking at the paper, and imperfection, and only draw what your eyes see…
My stress level went from 0-1000000% in a matter of minutes! I had to go sit in my corner and rock myself back and forth and cry… just kidding about the corner thing, but I just have one question about this project….
    WHYYYYYYY???😳😳
Don’t you like your OCD fans???😭😭 it hurts my brain trying this technique!!! You’re killin me, Smalls!😜

I would love more like this. I'd like to be able to use this technique because I'm not very good at some of the others! But I do love this one! Please do more like this, Sarah, and send it in the weekly emails! :-) Thank you!

Love the exercise but also love the “art lesson” of others’ art as it applies to the exercise (i.e. Francis Bacon). The exercise involves several techniques and I love that too. I felt like I was back in college, my favorite time. I also appreciate the ability to get supplies to do exercise myself right here. Very nice class!

I loved this approach to this. You were right - it is very freeing to just let the pen follow eye....so interesting and fun. Thank you. I did send an email a few weeks ago - but I am not sure if it went through. I live in Canada and I ordered a sale kits and a bunch of the Holbein tape (I cannot get it anywhere here in Canada) and I must say - you are absolutely correct. That tape is fantastic. So even though the shipping to me was kind of crazy - as far as I am concerned it was totally worth it just for the tape. Thank you so very much. ❤

I agree Francis Bacon is very dark. I watched a documentary on him recently and he had a deep sadness about him. It’s amazing how much our personalities show through In our art. That’s why yours is so bright, beautiful, and calm.

This ended up being fun. But I started my drawing on a plain piece of paper. Good thing since the first one came out about 2 inches tall! After three or four tries I got something I liked and transferred it to watercolor paper using a light box. Also, for all those things that are "don't use your good watercolor brushes", I use a water brush. Those nylon bristles wash like a charm and no worries about stuff getting up in the ferrule.

You kind of end up with funky looking leaves that you might go, oh, this is a cool way to draw a leaf. I can use that. The lowest leaf on the left is a case in point. It's free, suggestion of movement. Good idea! Your circles remind me of my swatch pages. I often draw blobs to test colors and then come back later and think...oh, that's a chicken, that's an alligator...LOL Your ideas are a little calmer, but I'll definitely think of this project next time I'm doing my squiggly sketches over blobs. And it's also a good candidate for fun rubber or clear stamps, even using the gold. This would be an awesome alcohol ink project too...anyway, see, you really got me thinking with this one, thank you!

Thank you for the video. I am completely new to drawing and purchased my very first watercolor paint. I assume you are rinsing your brush every time your brush is removed from the screen? It would be helpful to see your entire work surface maybe with just a picture on the side and your main work in the center .
