    Thank you so much for doing this youtube. I am a watercolorist from years gone by, put it on the shelf for awhile due to other interests demanding my attention, but getting back into it these days. I painted along with you and my turtle turned out just awesome thanks to your step by step tutorial. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and love for watercolor with the world. You rock!

    Great painting.
    For bigger areas I recommend much bigger brushes. It's not only more comfortable, faster, but also you don't rub the paper that much.

    I just love this little guy!!!! I've been patiently waiting for this tutorial! I never thought I'd be able to paint a sea turtle but you instructions make it possible. The markings on his flippers look like mosaic tiles. Glad you guys are safe after the storm that passed through. I have a friend that had a mustang in Wisconsin and when it would snow his rear tires would just spin and spin....he quickly traded that car in. Heidi

    On more little tip for you in the Midwest snow season: if you DO have a rear wheel drive (mine is a little pickup truck) you can place sand bags directly over the rear wheels (I use about 200 lbs) and motor through the snow without any trouble at all. Really!

    This is the 3rd video of yours that I've watched so far. I'm very new to your channel and am LOVE LOVE LOVING it! I'm also obsessed with watercolor and it's my most favorite medium ever. I HATED it when I was in high school. Lol!
    I've always wanted to learn to paint animals because they might be my most favorite living things on the planet. Particularly under sea animals.
    It AMAZES me how the animals you paint come to life when you finally add the eye! I'm working on this tutorial myself. I can't wait to try more. You are a breath of fresh air to watch too. Thank you so much for offering these tutorials and teaching us.

    Missouri people!!! I just found this channel, and as a fellow Missourian it's great to see us represented. I love the banter between you two (reminds me of the ?? Sherpa and her hubby/cameraman . Very relaxed and encouraging at the same time. I have been dabbling in watercolor for a short time and I love how you make it so much easier than it was before for me. I have learned though, that paper makes all the difference. I was using thick, but not necessarily watercolor paper and it was a struggle/disaster. Since switching to actual watercolor paper I get so excited when I see the blooms in my wet on wet exercises, and the multiple glazes I can put down without the paper balling up. I subscribed immediately as you are my kind of people!! lol Hugs from St. Charles, MO.

    In the beginning when you say you're adding water that's already there and that's why it fans out... what do you mean? Did you add water to the paper before you painted it?

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ashley Marie, I just want to make sure, are you talking about the background? You may notice that when Sarah goes back to add more water/paint each time, she'll put the brush down just a little bit away from the color that's already been put down, then paint toward the color, which causes the existing color to spread toward where the brush just was. I hope that helps to add a little bit of clarity! If not, please let us know. We want to make sure you understand what we're talking about!

      @@LetsMakeArt I figured it out lol I have another question. What kind of watercolor paper is she using? I am just starting out. I have a cheap watercolor paint set and a paint pad I got at walmart. I think I need the tube watercolors that she has so I can get it darker on the edges? When this dries it gets lighter. If I go to Michael's what's the best paint and paper to get?
