We're delighted to say a big "Hola, Hola" to CUPRA's first all electric vehicle, the CUPRA Born.
This sleek and sporty high performance hatchback looks a bit different from the endless electric SUVs on the market and we rather like it. It comes with options for a 45 kWh, a 58 kWh or a 77 kWh battery and with a 125 kW DC charging capability you can charge from 5% to 80% in around 35 minutes.
The interior is swish, packed with great technology and has seats made from a recycled polymer fabric sourced from plastic extracted from oceans - nice! UK pricing will be announced in the Autumn with deliveries starting at the beginning of 2022 but it's pretty obvious to us that this will be extremely popular. There's an awful lot to like about this car and we'll be test driving it as soon as we can!

@@infernalbadger comparing the golf r/seat cupra with mercedes/audi/bmw is silly because the cupra and golf r are almost full specced and the models that you compare are base models. When you add some options the Mercedes/Bmw will cost you 15-20% more than golf r/cupra leon.
El Born is a neighborhood of Barcelona. All Seat cars are named in honor of Spanish places. In case you need some extra information.
I highly recommend the bar Creps al Born to anyone who goes there. Great cocktails, great atmosphere for a late night drink with a crepe alongside!

But then we, in the UK, didn't get the 2nd generation Chevy Volt or any of the Bolt's (the perfect car for UK roads) and Europe only got the Bolt upto 2019!

Looks so much better than the ID.3 that it is based on. I’d happily drive it just based on the looks alone.
it's great that the VW group will reuse their MEB platform for so many models and brands. This is good news for everyone as with common parts comes both reliability and reduced costs in the end. And the fact that it does not go 0-60 in -200 seconds is also excellent. Hot Hatches are not supposed to be supercars, just really fun to drive. So a perfectly pitched car. Looking forward to having a test drive in this one later in the year.

No other EV has ever given me such a buy-impulse. The Fiat 500e came close but it feels a little bit too much like a fashion accessory, but this one? Good looks, aggressive hot-hatch styling, 50-50 weight distribution, rear wheel drive, short wheel base and an abundance or torque? What's not to like? I wants it.

@@whispie. Yeah, but the limited range (ok and size) is one thing that makes me feel the 500 is a bit of a fashion accessory. No, I do not suffer from range anxiety, but with less than 300 km real-world highway range it looks a lot like a shopping cart for rich people (like the Honda). Also, the 500 isn't that much cheaper than the cupra, is it?
@@panzerkami2381 I agree with you but wouldn't call it a fashion accessory, I'd just call it "a second car for accommodated people". It's not unusual to see a large SUV (e.g. Audi Q7) parked next to a Fiat 500, Mini convertible, Mazda Mx5 or any other "more fun car" to be used as a daily driver. And yes, I agree with you that for a shopping cart (or simply a daily driver), 300km is enough. I own an ICE Fiat 500 and I've made road trips with it, but simply because for me it's my only car, not a second toy car, and that's the reason for which the new Fiat 500e doesn't suit my needs

it is exactly the same horse shit that VW is forcing into seat/cupra, skoda and even audi had to suck it up and use that crap and put it into the q4.
and the limitation to 160km/h and calling it a "cup-racer" is like the dieselgate all over again. they should have called it a seat. it is NOT a cupra.

This is the car I've been looking for to replace my current hatch. A fun small(er) car with decent range and charging that I can use for a commute and enjoy a drive in. I think it looks great!

This Essex boy is definitely saying “Yes” to the Cupra’s looks. Now… 4wd, and half the 0-60 time maybe? Who am I kidding? These days with such a stunning car and modest stats, I could live with that and even pop tow bar on for a camping trailer. Though will it have similar charge/power features as that new ioniq? 🤔

Last week I went out in the Audi GT e-tron, ooof the acceleration is something special.. I was sold on electric cars.
I’ve had a stage 2 Leon Cupra R, 19 plate Mk3.5 Leon Cupra and now a 20 plate Lux Cupra.. so would I go for this electric Cupra.. hell yes. Best of both worlds.

Love it! I thought it looked like a sportier ID.3 before learning it's part of the VW group. Personally, I felt it could have been a smaller ID.3 but because it's the Cupra sport range I imagine it will cost more than an ID.3?
Saw this car today in Southampton. Great looking car.

This sounds fantastic, finally a sporty small-ish car. I'm only a bit surprised at how 'slow' it is - I guess down to the battery size.
Battery size only affects speed through its weight, the power of the motor determines the speed
It's great that we are now seeing the new cars coming out, almost got to the point where it seems mainstream now. Robert's continual mention of 'this is not new' says it all; there's many cars out there already that have many of the features mention. Is there a list somewhere that has all the fully electric vehicles out there in the market?

once all the covid restrictions are gone you should visit the town of Vauban, in Freiburg Germany. they are way ahead of the game in terms of sustainability and it would be great to see an episode about that

If you like compact cars and you don´t like SUVs the choice of EVs is quite limited so far. A faster and better looking ID.3 is a good start, but I´m also curious what Audi does with the platform apart from an Q4 e-tron.

It looks really nice, as usual price will be the deciding factor, how much more than a comparable ICE model will this be, and will the saving from electric over petrol make the upfront cost worth it.

huge SEAT fan, had a few, currently an Ateca, due to be changed at xmas, been waiting for this since i first heard of it, a much nicer looking, much higher spec VW for less money (like every SEAT)
Except for Cupra is no longer part of the Seat brand. Meaning it's not going to be priced below VW, as a Seat FR would've been. They realized that they would earn much more money if they separated the Cupra brand rather than adding the Cupra last name to an existing Seat model
