- In part 2 the train clears the truss bridge, then clears another on the East side of Quenemo. I then caught it from the old RR truss bridge (turned into a road one) over the tracks in Melvern.
Up until now no one had been paying much attention to the move, but it was a different story in Melvern where i saw at least a couple dozen people standing next to the tracks and on the 2 bridges (including the one i was on. This is a railfan friendly place). After leaving Melvern 2 more people and another BNSF cop started following the train also.
This is what the railroad is here for. Look at what was kept off the public hiways.
5-5/8" thick, 13.5' I.D., 139.4' long 1,350.000 lb Tower. Headed for KS Refinery.
That car is HUGE!! and a shiny new Gevo in charge, excellent catch!
That old railroad bridge, near Melvern, was once owned by the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad Company, Inc. Santa Fe was going to take it out, but they couldn't do it, since it was owned by the CRI&P.
That's pretty sweet, I understand one of these cars was badly damaged in a previous hauling incident.
Pulled by none other than an ES44AC, my favorite type of GE locomotive!
wow that looks like a sharp turn at the end but that car handle it easy for as long and big as it was
@johnmventre It's a refinery vessel. Not sure why it was made up there. The caboose was marked "Specialized Rail Transport".
Most of the weight is in the Jeep and lowboy itself
I wanna see the hard part, lifting off the train and standing the cracking tower in place
a very neat video--fun to watch!
That was a huge *ss loud. 😮
they built hooper welding reactor vessel from canada trip to kansas. they said at other vid
That bridge needs too be rebuilt after 2 millon pound car goes over it. That was one close fit! But it is a Bailey bridge so it can take alot. Also designed in Canada durring WW I.
I will say one thing the engineer (drive) of this train was something else. someone knew what they were doing that's for sure
+antietam1958 really dont thing the engineer needed much skill, did he have to steer at all? Basically all he did was inch back on the throttle. im thinking the people that know the measurements for the bridge knew what they were doing. Along with how they can shift the load. No disrespect to the engineer but he had little input on whether or not that thing made it over the bridge
The Schnabel crew which goes with those huge cars are responsible for the trip being successful.@@tylerbonser7686
So awsome man what a load the dash 9 took it no prob A+++
umm yeah pretty sure thats the bridge at 4:00 listen to it with headset on. The cracking of ties doesnt sound like bending metal. U can hear it again at about 6:08
is that the bridge crecking at 4:00???
It was a section of the track next to the crossing.
Incredible!
It too bad you didnt have a camera on the bridhe to see the sag. Great Video
@83dubbie sorry bud thats not a Dash 9 its a new EVO
cool i love trains.
Canada has a 15% business tax USA has 30% so 15% off bid price and depending on the exchange rate Canada is 10-18 cents higher or lower for every dollar spent compared to USA currency via exchange rate and due to NAFTA their are no tariffs for products crossing the Canada USA or Mexico borders and the company website shows they specializes in products like this so they are probably cheaper
They got lucky in that second bridge
Made in Canada because we know how too make them!
Yeah, well too bad you don't know how to spell...
@thebig14foot it was 1.25 million pounds
a shnabel car
