    That looks great! When I was child labor in my dads shop back in the sixties, We always did tuck & roll with individual strips of Naugahyde or leather sewn together ( I liked the bass boat metal flake best) & then glued strips of foam into the channels.
    This is way faster. Thank you.

    I do all to restore cars except upholstery and have 2 cars ready for interiors in a couple of months. The 2 good upholsterers our car clubs know of in Seattle area are booked out 8-9 months. I'm a bit old to be driving around on a milk crate again but I will if I have to. The skilled labor shortage includes engine and trans rebuilders, collector car body/paint shops, plating shops and all the support groups I need to build homes. Same for the machining industry. One group we don't have a shortage of is government bureaucrats.

    I really enjoyed this video. About 20yrs ago I restomodded a 63 Mercury meteor 2dr post on a tight budget. I didn’t make much money then. Mom can sew very well so we took the original seat upholstery apart like you did. We changed the inserts to a custom black material with blue stripes that matched the new paint on the car. I had a local guy die the original vinyl on the seats white. It came out really well and it cost me very little which is all I could afford at the time LOL

    it was the first seat i ever made the upholstery for and it turned out real nice , now i have some tips from you so i can do even better on my 59 and 60 impala convertible interior's
    i like how you used 1/2 inch foam on the unpleated areas i used 1/4 inch , and i like how you used the thick foam to pad up the whole seat .it looks great.

      @@LGKustoms It is for marking lines for T&R and pleats. We were given a set (3) of them 30 or so years ago. Keyston Brothers was selling them back then for 49.99. I suppose at that time I could not fathom the benefit and did not buy a set. Many of the other trimmers in San Diego couldn't manage to squeeze out 50$ for three sheets of 1/8 inch clear plastic with holes drilled in them at varying widths either. So because of the lack of interest, my sales rep said We could have a set seeing as they didn't sell well and they were giving out a set per shop that walked in. I gotta say it has been a big hit in our shop. We have used it for T&R and other upholstery projects for all these years. They save incredible amounts of time, especially when you are doing multiple of the same thing. I wish they still made them. I have seen them for sale, at times past on ebay, but that was probably a decade or so back. You choose the sheet with the measurements you want, then rub the chalkboard eraser loaded with chalk dust over it and, viola! If you ever get the chance, get you one of these. Once you learn how to use them they are really helpful. A Trimmer's friend indeed.

    how much is it for you to build me a 32 ford three window coupe

      That depends on what condition your three window is in, and what level you would like to take it to.

      Someone else mentioned that, and when I watched it last night noticed the picture wasn’t great. I’m not sure what went wrong, it was recorded and edited the same as all my other videos. I did have lots of problems uploading to TH-cam. It took three attempts and would keep crashing during the processing part of the upload. Maybe that’s where it went weird?

    It cracks me up that you guys try to refer to that thing as a model A. There's only a small piece of a model A on it, and I bet that's not even time period. Thats like calling a man a woman because he has long hair. It's simply a hot rod. The real model A would twist and break and be impossible to control under the strain of that power. Other than my pet peeve, great video.

    • @LGKustoms
      @LGKustoms  ปีที่แล้ว

      But it is a Model A. It’s a stock 1930 Model A body. It’s on a Model A frame. It has a Model A grill. It even says Model A on the title!

    Your description of pleating is not correct. There are many types of pleats in clothing, and you don't see the stitching in any of them. What you are showing as pleats are not pleats really. It is really just top stitching. A pleat always has a fold. The descriptor Tuck and roll tells you about the construction of them.
