In this video I sew and install a Naugahyde tuck and roll seat cover for the back seat in my 47 Ford. To support this channel please checkout www.lgspeedkus... Thanks for watching
I think your upholstery videos are fascinating. Back in the ‘70’s you could order some have way decent replacement seat covers, I used those a couple of times. Marty G
Hey Lee - I don't have anything more to add or better to say that hasn't already been said so well in the other comments so far - except to say - Saturdays have become so much better relaxing with an LGKustoms video and a beverage of your choice. Like "two fingers" of Scotch !
Did my homework and bought a Pfaff 136 industrial when i figured out what you were saying, buy a good common brand name. I have built for years and do everything but this. Have never done a stitch but it is time. I have installed lots of premade covers and foam. A well explained and done video. One of your best. As in your social media awesome to see the swamper slowly growing also. Makes my day ❤
As always great educational video. I’m at this point with my project and considering to do the interior myself. This video is a great help. Nice to see the upholstery elf inspect your work.
Videos like this when I had my 1966 Malibu back in the late 70's could have made the difference. Thanks for sharing. I really like the color choice, the vinyl (pleather), pipping and junior you made the whole show worth wild.😃
Excellent! Very well described. I am going to have a go at making my own seat covers. I inherited a sowing machine from my cousin Ted when he past away 2022. But still haven’t plucked up the courage to have a go. If I was to do a diamond panel would I be able to double stitch that? Thanks for all the great content you put forwards for all of us that follow along. Lux is so loverly. Doris didn’t seem to care. Cheers
I’ve never tried diamond panels this way, but I’ve done lots of diamond pleats (with exposed stitches). You should try it on your machine and see what happens!
Your upholstery work is incredible! I can't afford to pay someone to make a headliner for my 49 Pontiac, so I will have to do it it myself. I already have an old sewing machine that I got for free. Now I just need my material and learn how to operate the sewing machine hahaha! Another great video Lee! Cheers
If it was any shorter, it would not be able to demonstrate all the steps that go into a job like this. This much effort is only part of a complete interior upholstery job and illustrates why and how it takes so long and is so expensive. Excellent video as usual.
I will never again grumble about why upholstery seems so expensive..... lee, what would you say the cost would be if this (single seat) was a customer contract ? Is $1500 in the ball park?
Funny I’ve been looking for fabric that’s waxy and old school . Love this English Pub stuff it’s really great! Love the vids . Wish I still flew into Edmonton I’d love to visit
Hey great shows love to watch them. I have a question on your Upholstry on the 47 do you have any full footage of the piping that’s not sped up I’d like to see it slower as I am wanting to learn to do my own. I do everything else but this is a new venture for me. And I’m tired of paying so much for it. Thanks and keep the videos coming. Greg in Colo
I thought I had a clip in this video where I explained how to make piping. I might have a clip in this video too th-cam.com/video/sC7H3DauvzM/w-d-xo.html
I have a Westinghouse the Free sewing machine; do you think it would do upholstery work ok? I know they are a heavy-duty machine; I have seen a man sew 4 layers of jean material together with no problems, the one I have was built in 1957. I do need to get it serviced.
All those poor naugas!😢😂 Looks great! Excellent explanation of the difference between pleated and tuck n roll. Now you just have to straighten folks out on what is a chrome reverse wheel lol
Thank you for making this video. I have a chopped 51 Chevy that I’ll do my own upholstery in it. Can’t afford for a shop to do it. I picked up a Mitzi long arm machine at a steal from a friend.
Another GREAT Video, Thanks Lee -- You inspired me to give it a go on my 29 pickup when you did Shanes Model A, using the same seat i have. And here we are again, inspiring me to add to the stack of upholstery jobs and do my 47 coupe --- I see you have yet to build that extension table to your sewing table
Haha actually the extension can be seen laying against the wall in the back ground. I just have to mount it the table. That may take two more years, but it’ll eventually happen
great video , i bought a Juki 563LU a few months ago and been teaching myself - this is bar none the best step by step instructional video I've seen so far "hats off my friend" I'm subscribed now thanks for sharing
Excellent video Lee. You always do a great job of including a lot of the basics that other content creators assume viewers already know. Keep up the good work.
..hi Lee...I'm one of those awesome guys that has no problem with watching a 2 hour video, especially when it involves something as informative as upholstery.....you are a great teacher.....also, the Lux and Doris placements in the video were good stuff....
Hi Lee. I really enjoyed this video and the seat looks amazing! You did a great job explaining the process. Great to see your little helper giving you a hand!
The seat back turned out great! Wow, upholstery is more work/time intensive that I imagined..
I think your upholstery videos are fascinating. Back in the ‘70’s you could order some have way decent replacement seat covers, I used those a couple of times.
Marty G
Still can for a lot of the more popular cars! I use them often for people who want OEM style interiors
Thankyou for sharing this, i learned a ton sir 👌
Glad to hear it
Great videos my man! One request, can you do a close up shot of sewing where the piping intersects? Thanks in advance
Great video Lee!
Thanks Matt!

Great video with some great tips and tricks. Thanks Lee
Nice job Lee 👍hey your little helper is getting to be a big boy 🥰 cute as ever
Thank you
That looks great, I remember you saying that you did upholstery. Naugahyde!😂
I like the long videos 2 hours are longer
always great work
Great tutorial. I had the interior in my 48 Chevrolet done a year ago. So it was fascinating to see how it all comes together. Thanks Lee.😊
Glad it was helpful!
Please do more upholstery videos
I’ll have more coming up in the future when I upholster my 32 sedan.
Dude!!! Great video!!! Your upholstery video's are the best!!! You make it sound and look easy!!!!I see the little one is already helping!!!!✌️

I’d love to find an old 111G156. They’re getting pretty rare these days.
That's a great video, very informative 👍
This was a great video, will you make one showing how to do door cards?
Eventually yup. My I’ll be making door cards, Windlace, all that stuff
@@LGKustoms very cool.
good show looks good,looks great😎👍
Perfect seat cover Lee, I remember doing that stuff in my twenties, good times. Lux was helping like a good boy. Cheers
you explain things very well, thank you for that.

Operating the sewing machine is the hardest part!
Excellent video! Thank you for producing it. Question: Which variety of Naugahyde did you use? I like the glossy, durable appearance.
This is “English Pub” by Naugahyde.
If it was any shorter, it would not be able to demonstrate all the steps that go into a job like this. This much effort is only part of a complete interior upholstery job and illustrates why and how it takes so long and is so expensive. Excellent video as usual.
Stay tuned for foam work on the cushion coming this Saturday!
SAAAAAAAAAWWEEEEEET!!!
I will never again grumble about why upholstery seems so expensive..... lee, what would you say the cost would be if this (single seat) was a customer contract ?
Is $1500 in the ball park?
Yea this would be in the $1500 range cause I didn’t have to do any foam work. It’s not very often foam work isn’t required though.
Funny I’ve been looking for fabric that’s waxy and old school . Love this English Pub stuff it’s really great! Love the vids . Wish I still flew into Edmonton I’d love to visit
Thanks. I left Edmonton many years ago though.

The ‘60’s cars that I’ve messed with had a reinforcing wire looped in the long runs. I take it you don’t always need that. Marty G
These did too, but I rarely use them
Very. Neat. Work
Awesome as always 👍
Looks great! Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for watching!
very interesting

I’m not sure. I’ve never heard of a Westinghouse.
Where did you buy your clear hollow core pipping? Thanks for the video!
Any upholstery supply company should have it. I believe I bought this from Jackson’s
How high will numbers usually go when patterning?
It all depends on the seat design. The more panels and seams, the more numbers
Nice work Lee. Is that Ernies old sewing machine you are using?
It is! Still running strong! Never skips a beat. I sold my old machine not long after getting this one and have been using it exclusively since
Enjoyed this video. Would be interested in you putting together a headliner and installing that.
Hopefully soon! I just bought some material to do the headliner
As always--great content!!!
I appreciate that
How fabulous to watch and learn Is there no end to your skills?
Thanks
The area on lower part to use cheaper material but that means more labor can you use the same material to save the sewing . Tks great video.
I actually did end up making it out of the same blue
Why don't you start in the middle of the seat for the pleats and it will work out every time.
Sometimes it does, but not always.
All those poor naugas!😢😂

How about a headliner for the 46?
I bought some headliner material last week for the 47

Man that came out beautiful, I want to do my 36 ford sedan that style. My car will be Washington blue outside so your interior is really a inspiration
The dash in my 47 is Washington blue, and this Naugahyde “English pub navy” is almost a perfect match
Wow! Top notch craftsmanship, Lee. I really learned a lot!
Awesome!
Is that a Singer 111W 156?
Yes
I am happy! I have one too
these kind of video a worth the time, great job Lee!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video!
YAY!
Love your upholstery content!
Thanks. Next weeks video is more upholstery, I make all the foam and patterns from scratch on the cushion
