i am a hairdressing student and this is the way i have used rollers i hope this helps. if you dont understand any off it or have any other questions im happy to help. for these types of rollers the best way to use them is on slightly damp hair with also some strong hold styling mouse. the ones along the top of your head going down through the back should have a thickness of about half an inch to an inch depending on the hair. you should also over direct them away from the root to add volume as this avoids flat roots. for the sides of the hair you should go down 1 size on the roller and hair thickness should be about half an inch. place one roller at the front of the head at the top and place another one directly next to it. depending on the width of the rollers will depend on how many you put in. typically after the first 2 rollers at the front of the head on the side you would move on to the back side part of the hair behind the ear. this is where you put your first full row in for the side of the hair. you wont be able to place the roller directly beside the first 2 so you have to move it down slightly, you should have a triangle shape at the top once the 3rd roller is in. after this you work down from the 3rd roller at the back and then onto the middle and finally the front rollers. depending on the look you want to go for you should have the rollers touching and the hair should be tight around the roller to avoid them slipping out and hold the volume and shape for longer.
Lynn, every time take mine off they qre all tangled and its a struggle to get them off .there is always that shreaking sound of hair breakage .. can u advise what am I doing wrong?
Im on the curly girl method and would loooove this kind of blow- out curly big look. Do you know any holding styling mouse I could use for this? fingers crossed!
@@linejrgensen4116 I think that is my problem as well. My curly hair is baby fine; have a lot of it, just fine and I really struggle with blown out waves holding their shape. Have you tried one of the dry shampoos?
I have very thin hair, so I use a curling iron first on my hair and then as soon as I've curled a section of my hair, I wrap it around the roller while it's still warm. Works every time :)!
You are honestly the first person that has admitted to having the IDENTICAL texture to my hair. I have natural hair and no matter what it is straight/wavy/curly/frizzy mess! Thank you for the tips, I am 27 and still learning how to work with this mess.
if you try to hold the roller at an angle so that it sits on the "base" of the section of hair you're rolling; like so that from the root of your hair is rolled, then you'll get loads of volume right from the roots!
Absolutely gorgeous results!! Very impressive..!! I hv long hair and they are very smooth & silky and have natural long waves. My Velcro rollers hardly stay put so I use pins and mostly go hodgepodge way...as I run out of patience as it comes off so many times. I still love the end results! Thank you for showing another way to do it!!
Thanks for this tutorial, it's really clear and since I have the same hair length as you do in this video, it was easy to follow. I still need a lot of practice as my hair has come out looking ridiculous, but hopefully I'll get it soon!
I don't think it's your hair texture that's frizzy and troublesome I think it's the extreme damage from the over processing! Sorry if this offends you but I just thought I should maybe point it out to you. Maybe a bleaching break would be really helpful only if you think so too ofc
You don't know my hair type, my hair has always been wavy, frizzy, curly etc but thank you for your concern. My hair is actually in good condition and feels just the same as before I ever bleached or dyed it :)
I doubt anyone's hair can feel the same before and after bleach lmao especially after going platinum... if that was the case no one would be worried about bleaching their hair at all!
+Malika Bala But really my hair isn't in bad condition. It's the snapping I worry about. I only get my roots bleached so my hair is fine. Damage only happens I find if bleach is overlapped too much onto what was previously done or if it's bleached bathed to get a more even colour. Using fibreplex, Schwarzkopf version of olaplex has caused less breakage recently and yes it really does feel the same as before bleaching if the right bleach is used. I know this from 3 years of trying it and finding out what works for me :)
Naddie Err lmao which country do you live in? Ever heard of short forms? Besides once you try to be an internet troll and only have spelling to resort to you've lost. Over sensitivity is a disease get well soon :)
Your roller set was so great the perfect volume for your hair and it shows your beautiful highlights so wonderful .Thank you and by the way you're really cool.
i sometimes curl my hair then put the rollers in straight after if I'm in a rush for volume! but going to try this way as well, looks so much easier and looks amazing! x
You are seriously the only person I've seen on TH-cam who has the same hair texture as me! It's straightish, frizzyish, and wavy curlyish (holds style GREAT though). The girl saying your hair looks like it has a chemical cut doesn't know shit about our hair texture. It's just poofy naturally. Annoying to style sometimes, but it is what it is! Great tutorial 😊
Ive said this before and i'll say it again, your hair is to die for! i did end up buying them after reading your blog post but they didn't work on my super long hair but still i guess it's a game of trial and error, still gonna play around with them! Lovely video as always Leanne xo
Hi, I have a question, about the mousse you use, when do you use it? Right after you shower, damp hair, before blowdrying, or after blowdrying? And how do you apply it, from the roots to tips?
Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous ! Definitely going to hop on over to Primark to purchase these rollers as I struggle to get volume in my hair. Great video as always ;D x
great tutorial, i did it yesterday but couldn't sleep in them...completely irrelevant question but what toner do you use on your roots and i use blue scalp bleach and the purple shampoo does not get rid of the brassy tones on my roots. thanks
Omg!! Thanks for sharing. I have the same rollers but haven't used them because I was afraid to lol that and the results I'd get.. but this, is is va va voom volume lol very gorgeous
OMG Leanne such a big volume 😃👌 yayyy I really need to go to Primark to check them out You done perfectly ! My hair is really flat I have some layers cause I have Victoria Beckham hair cut style when she used the bob But if I use this rollers obviously will get a massive volume that's what I'm looking for ☺️👍 Thx you so much for sharing Xoxo you're one in a million love your videos ☺️👌💖💖
Your hair looks gorgeous but only use Velcro rollers on DRY hair because when hair is wet it expands when it dries it shrinks the rollers can completely snap your hair off
I looked it up and it seems you shouldn't put them into wet hair but a lot say 70% damp is okay. I've done this twice now and it's been fine! Also a hair dresser has commented on this video saying she does the exact same as me. If it snaps your hair off then my rollers would have been full of hair when I took them out? But they weren't ^_^
Rollers of any kind are usually placed into damp hair (mostly dry with a small amount of dampness!) because as it dries the hair molecules set into the place you've put them into, making your curls last a lot longer. Unless your hair is in VERY bad shape it will not snap from these if you take them out gently. For the person with stretchy hair, you need a protein treatment for your hair!
I'll second this. I have really fine hair AND I used to bleach it when I was using these back then and OMG. Yeah it was like elastic and SNAP. It would break as I would pull it out later. And it was just half wet? I guess. Now that I have grown my natural hair out and know better I only do it dry 👍 GREAT no heat styling and I only leave it in about 45 minutes then spray a really flexible soft hairspray and volume lasts a good portion of the day.
Wow... Thank you for this video! I have damaged blonde hair. I'm wanting to STOP using heat all together!!! These are my alternative. . I purchased my Velcro rollers at the dollar store!! ... Will it help my hair now that I won't be using heat..?? (Like my curling iron.. Or Blow dry) ???
LLimWalker Hi! I really love how it turned out.. I was planning to buy curlers this weekend. For my side-swept bangs/fringe what size should I use and in which direction should I roll them? I also love your hair color (can you comment what shade it is please please :) and your makeup... I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on that look :) Thank you so much, this tutorial was btw a great help! :)
My dear, ur hair is so pretty :) purple is not a color I'm brave enough to try but it looks nice on you :) my question is how do you section the hair on the middle section of your head ?? I struggle with it greatly. If you could give me a tip that would be great :) thanks so much in advance.
For how long your curls last? I have fine and thin hair and I am looking for ways to give my hair a bit more volume... I like to use hair rollers but my curls last only for half of the day :( ..:)
Loved all your tips thank you so much for this. my hair is as straight as a stick and ever since I cut it, it holds absolutely no volume. This seems fairly simple I hope it works for me.
You can actually get a hood that attaches to your blow dryer these can be purchase on eBay or hairdressing suppliers may stock them. You may also want to check out sleep in rollers TH-cam channel and website
Do you know where else they might sell these exact rollers? I've purchased two different sets of rollers & the Velcro on them are too tough. Was hoping that maybe these are less tough on hair because you pull them out so easily..

I'd love any recommendations for a great hold styling mousse .. any drugstore brands?
Lynn, is there any way for these curls to hold up besides styling mousse? Will hair setting lotion work?

you kind of look like aubrey plaza!
I second that! lol
Aubrey plaza + marina and the diamonds
Can't unsee it now
Yes! Aubrey Plaza and that one girl from Black Mirror- she was in the episode called “play test” with Kurt Russell’s son
I thought the same thing!
if you try to hold the roller at an angle so that it sits on the "base" of the section of hair you're rolling; like so that from the root of your hair is rolled, then you'll get loads of volume right from the roots!
I honestly adore how you are so genuine sounding !
Absolutely gorgeous results!! Very impressive..!!

Your hair looks so amazing! Suits you well and the results looks stunning 😍😍 Beautiful tutorial
So pretty! Oh yes, nice touch to see the before and after, in order to see how much of a difference you made.
Your skin is looking beyond amazing!!
How the heck did you sleep with those in…that looks impossible lol
I have since purchased the sleep in rollers, they are squishy ^_^
+LLimWalker the flex rod one?
LLimWalker can you still sleep in with the rollers without the sleep in ones
33emilykay I did that last night ! it was so hard !!! I almost had to sleep on my face 😂😂

Naddie Err lmao which country do you live in? Ever heard of short forms? Besides once you try to be an internet troll and only have spelling to resort to you've lost. Over sensitivity is a disease get well soon :)
Your hair is absolutely gorgeous and the color is such a beautiful purple ombre.
Woah! So voluptuous! The curls are nice and large, might try this out to my hair one day. Absolutely phenomenal.
So gorgeous! Please tell me you have a hair dye tutorial because that is the most gorgeous hair color ever! So clean yet edgy
Leanne your hair looks SO good like that! I'm really impressed with the rollers xx
I love those curlers! I have been using them for years! Your hair color is amazing! And yes I love the volume!
I love how much volume it gives your hair!
Everytime I try them they rip my hair out
Same....it thins my hair rather than give volume
U should hold your hair at root while pulling the roller out
@@rox90ish it's not just the roots though... it pulls at my fine hair and rips the hair the way using a brush too harshyly can cause split ends.
I LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT!!!
please do a nail video/ blogpost!! I've just started watching you and you're becoming one of my favorites!
I have filmed this :D just need to edit it. Aww thank you lovely :D

It kind of likes a Hollywood glamour hairstyle.
Love your hair! Looks amazing

Beautiful hair and also beautiful tutorial :3
Superb haircolors

I'm definitely going to try rollers, love the look 👌
Yessss perfect tutorial ! Explained very well
Do you have a tutorial for this eye look?
this was gorgeous 😩 I need to get some rollers asap
I hate you for making this look so easy and completely slaying the look; I gave up half way through ;__;
LLimWalker how much of the sebastian whipped creme did u use and did u only put it on the roots or all over the hair? idk how to use it.
I tried this just now and i curled it the wrong way lmao but the bangs turned out pretty okay!! ill try again tomorrow
So cute! I'm totally trying this tomorrow morning! Thank you for posting!
Nice hair color ❤️
You can actually get a hood that attaches to your blow dryer these can be purchase on eBay or hairdressing suppliers may stock them. You may also want to check out sleep in rollers TH-cam channel and website
will I have o add some oil or water before using roller?
I like the color of your hairrrrrr
My hair is the same. I can manipulate it into many different styles but rarely do. Haha. I think I'll try something like this.
Do you dye your hair yourself? I love it!
Love this look! A very edgy Betty Draper :-)
How do you take them out without pulling out all of your hair?
Do you know where else they might sell these exact rollers? I've purchased two different sets of rollers & the Velcro on them are too tough. Was hoping that maybe these are less tough on hair because you pull them out so easily..
Lydia Thompson walmart
Your hair looks gorgeous :) what spray did you use? X
you look great with that hair!!!
