    Aikman is the most unselfish Superstar QB in NFL History. He sacrificed godly numbers (His arm talent was second to none, can make every single throw on the field and then some) instead of insisting he threw the ball 30 to 50 times a game he wanted to ensure his team attained 3 Superbowl trophies, which would have been double that had Jimmy Johnson stayed, but that's beside the point. Aikman realized he had arguably the best offensive line in NFL history - which the Cowboys used to punish opposing defenses on their road to several victories. If he played in todays NFL he would easily pass for 5500+ yards and 50 TD's a season, he was that talented. This is coming from a Washington fan who sports hated him when he played.

      First time I've read the term, "sports hated." It's very accurate and descriptive. I'll have to use it. My favorite Aikman memory was off the field. When Michael Irvin had to appear in court for cocaine possession and sexual assault (I believe). It was a low point in Irvin's life for sure (turns out the sexual assault part was fabricated). Troy came to the trial and sat in the courtroom to support his teammate. It was reported on the news and for some reason that act stuck in my mind. Good leader, good teammate, good friend.

    Troy was the most underrated QB of the 90's, but he clearly forgot that the 49ers decided to put Deion on 49er killer Alvin Harper in the 1994 NFC Championship Game. John Madden spilled the beans about this move just prior to kickoff and Harper only managed to catch 1 pass for 14 yards against Sanders. Troy is correct, however, about the significance of the horrible non-call on Sanders for pass interference. If the officials made the correct call, the ball would have been placed at the 5 yard line with over 6 minutes left in a 38-28 game.

      Yeah, funny that Troy mentioned that but I swore I remember the Niners actually using Deion how he said they didn't. Deion shut down Harper one on one on most plays while Eric Davis (who was also great) and the safeties swarmed Irvin. It was annoying to Cowboy fans because Irvin was one of the few guys who could do well against Deion in man coverage.

    • @drestathagangsta8880
      @drestathagangsta8880 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Consider it payback for that blatant no call when Irvin pushed off on Eric Davis for his 2nd td catch which cut the lead to 38-28 in the 4th. Even Madden and Summerall commented on it when they showed the replay.

    • @loustamat2595
      @loustamat2595 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly right.
      Cowboys got off to a horrible start with turnovers - I believe they were down 21-3. But then they showed a lot of grit and started coming back. That play was clear pass interference. Deion was pulling down one of Irvin’s arms while the throw was coming near. And he still almost made the catch.
      No doubt in my mind if the correct call was made, it would’ve become a 38-35 game with 5 minutes left. Would the 49ers probably still win? Yes. But, it would’ve been fascinating to watch how the game unfolded in that scenario.
      The 94 cowboy team was far better than the 95 SB winner.

    "Michael, im not throwing into triple coverage." Classic! EVERY elite WR in the league has that mentality, and i love the spirit.
    In basketball, living in Chicago area, i watched a lot of bulls games with the family (even though i was a Boston Celtics fan. I know, lol) but, MJ never cared if he was going to be triple teamed, with the game-winning shot on the line. He wanted the ball. We were close enough to hear the bench sometimes and could always hear MJ yelling, "just gove me the damn ball!" He would do a very good job passing the ball until his teammates started missing shots, then it was like, screw it, i'll do it myself, lmao!!

    UCLA v USC for those who remember: Bruins had scored early and often!!!! in one of Troy's two games. Right before half time the sc QB threw an INT when they were in the Bruin red zone and the Bruin DB had a clear path to a TD !!! which would have sealed the win - even tho it was just the play before half-time. Bruin DB ran it back but the sc QB was in hot pursuit and finally caught the Bruin and tackled him before he crossed the goal-line. Amazing chase down, unbelievable but true. That was the play that turned it all for sc going into the 2nd half.

    The Niners played it safe once they got the lead in that game by however many it was. They were up pretty good. Not sure that catch would've actually changed anything. It was the Niners day and year with Dion to help stop the elite Cowboys in 94. As for Irvin, not sure why he doesn't get mentioned as one of the greats ever.
