    idk maybe just putting bling on something youve already had enough of..

    • @gleaseriviera6722
      @gleaseriviera6722 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      or a way to support your ankles and entire legs so that your running posture can be best meshed with the thrusters output (not sure how much you can modify these "rockets" into "thrusters" without running into more burn issues..ANYWAY..). It wouldnt be quite as close to the show, i think?, but maybe suspensions would help as well? obviously I don't know a lot about engineering

    I think the use of more then a single rocket per leg would be required to make a difference.
    After all Tenya has six on his legs, my guess is anything less then three per leg will not help with movement enough to see any real difference.

    Student´s t-test requires at least a sample size of 10 group to work (if I remember correctly, which I might not but I´m too lazy to look it up) so your three runs won´t really be enough... ;D

    • @allenpan
      @allenpan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You said that if the P-value was higher than or 0.5 than it was either fail or needed more experimenting, BUT! I believe I saw your P-value was 0.05 meaning that's just half of 0.1, am I right?
    This is all out of speculations, but when I saw it I thought, "Hmm, maybe someone else pointed that out", and saw no other comments saying this, that is either because I am too dumb and actually am not understanding the concept or I just changed how you see the results, anyway, thanks for the re-do!

  • @Shadowex2000
    @Shadowex2000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think that the reason you’re not seeing any speed improvement, is because the rockets are firing at all points of time during your run. This will speed up the time taken for your leg to move forward but by the same amount, slow down your leg when it moves back. Maybe, if you fire the rocket periodically only when your legs are reaching forward you’ll see an improvement?
    Redo again please. :P

  • @iout
    @iout 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I mean, if you really want to get into it (on a strictly basic, high-school level) for probability, then your significance test doesn't actually mean anything because you failed to follow standard procedure which is: making sure that your data was obtained through a randomized experiment and since this is a t-test for a mean you also need more than 30 samples. Independence can probably be ignored in this case though.
    so you met 1/3 of the necessary conditions.

    We need MORE POWER!!
    My theory is that the rockets should be powerful enough to impulse your body & feet during the time both your feet are in mid air, that way you unconsciounsly stabilize your self each step.
    Overall, those are some nice, very good results, awesome!

    If your control runs involved wearing the weights of the rockets, then a speed increase of 0.2 seconds is negligible compared to the potential speed increase of just not having extra weights on your legs. Even if your run was just a little faster so to have a value of less than 0.05, I still wouldn't consider it convincing unless compared against your run without any leg weights. The only use for this that I can see is if you want a smoke screen to make a quick get away - though that would just draw in more attention.

    Have you thought of making the shoes have an impact sensor? So every step would trigger the rocket for a set amount of time, thus reducing the chance of exploding. But don't quote me on this, just a guy on his tablet, enjoying this video

    I think the only way for this to work is to have LEGIT rockets inbedded into your legs, cuz if you look at how iida runs during the training in season three, the instances where he lifts his legs for each step, he is allowing the rocket to carry him forward for a second, and hes pushing down with his other leg at the same time with brute strength

    Now I gotta imagine how My Hero Academia would have been if Tenyas Quirk was like something you said...
    Narrator: "Tenya Ida, Qurik Caffeinated. It gives the user the ability to drink four cups of Coffee!"
    or
    Narrator: "Tenya Ida, Quirk Bearchase. It gives the user the ability to be chased by a bear!"
    In conclusion, I still would have watched that.

    Most companies trying this are doing it on the waist. I think it’s because with those rockets on the legs themselves you’re pushing against them to then push against the ground so even though you get pushed forward a bit you also have to push against them so it kind of equals out

  • @AntiProAffiliation
    @AntiProAffiliation 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would be cool to see if you can have a timed “rocket” to have it go every time you’re starting to pushing off the ground to move your leg forward

    I think the fear and adrenaline is probably the best theory...despite being unfun.
    The only logical stance that maaaybe the rockets (in that placement) could maybe help, is maaaaybe they could slightly aid the physical process in running when you're bringing your fully extended back-leg back up to take your next step (by counter-acting drag and somewhat aiding your muscles to move your leg forward). Buuut once you plant your foot the rocket is essentially fully pointless and providing no benefit at all (aside from maybe fear).
    Overall I think its fairly obvious that rockets on your center mass (as shown way back in the first video) are a way better bet. STILL, the leg rockets (if at a much higher power like in the anime) SHOULD probably make your kicks hit harder by augmenting the thrust your muscles could propel your legs at. Cooouuurrrsse you'd probably break your foot/ankle as soon as you kicked anything with all that extra force.

    I honestly love this channel and what he does but he does need to be a bit more considerate about his neighbors and people around him lol. Hes naturally loud, energetic and over the top (not a bad thing at all!!) but for people just trying to nap, study, work, relax, focus, whatever I understand. Kinda like how when he visited william osman for the "scammers stole my invention vid" and he had to tell Allen to be quiet because its midnight and he still kept screaming or with the "knife cuts 333 times per second" vid where neighbors were just driving by and he was casually decapitating a mannequin with a LOUD ass blade😂 so yeah that kind of stuff being a common thing plus now exploding several rockets in public spaces at odd hours, its kinda understandable. Allen I LOVE YOU, but i would never want to be your neighbor😅. Its best to find a remote area to do your experiments. (on your defensyou're not alone, I would also HATE/consider moving it i was TheBackyardScientis´s neighbor). Again, I love yall and binge watch your videos but hearing explosions/heavy machinery/ screaming, all the time at random hours even at night would be a nightmare for anyone.

    BTW, using 0.05 as the value is for a 95% confidence interval (i.e. I'm 95% confident that the tests were significant). using 0.1 for a 90% confidence interval might fit your criteria.

  • @thirdeyenz

    As soon as your foot is planted the rocket boost on that leg is completely negated until that foot lifts again. All these could do is make your leg move forward faster as you take a step and maybe lengthen your stride but then your COG is getting left behind which could throw off your stride. What I'm saying is you need to stick the rockets up your bum. And I've just realised I'm commenting on a 2 year old video. I'd delete it but ooops, I've already hit COMMENT!

    I think that strapping the rockets at your ankles would change the results significantly......as more torque is being generated.......
    it will not look like whats in the anime but....it should increase the force that your leg applies.......and will answer the question "whether strapping rockes to your 'legs' increases your speed?"
    i know the rocket leg experiment is not worth doing again (assumption), but it'd be amazing if you did it.....may be you'll get a better statistical value this time.........

    In the first video you said you were about 8% faster with one rocket each stride in the unpowered run was about 3/4 of a parking space In the powered run the length and speed of your right legs stride stayed the same but your left legs stride averaged about 1 parking in the same amount of time but the rocket was only active for about half the run you take the four averages for the run .75 .75 .75 and 1 added tiger and divided by 4 to get the mean stride length of 0.8125 dived by the unpowered runs stride length of .75 to get a stride length increase of 8.3%
