What I really want from a Scream film is a killer to be caught, NOT killed, in the second act, and people scrambling to find out who their accomplice is when the killings continue. I'm glad you called out the callous humour that characters had in 5 and 6 about people they know getting murdered. I hated the glee with which Mindy spoke about the likelihood of people dying in her monologues. It just didn't seem like a way a real person would behave.
I love this idea. It’s what I kinda wish would have happened at the hospital with Dewey killing amber or arresting her at least. Maybe like jaegar said here have an epic escape like silence of the lambs.
People deal with stress and trauma in different ways it's actually perfectly normal for people to be joking around in situations like that, It's a defense/coping mechanism
@LeekyNng That's exactly what I wanted! Even with a teaser trailer that starts off like a Christmas movie, misdirecting the audience with the music, scenery and overall all tone ..... then Neve answers a phone and we hear the voice!
It links it back to feelings of characters like Olivia in Scream 4, and the way some of the townspeople didn’t want Sidney in woodsboro (deleted scenes, I believe)
I agree and I have a sinister Dewey theory that is highlighted by this awesome scene. I know Chad survived two ridiculously brutal attacks but before that Dewey’s attack in that booth he should have never survived simply because blood was draining from his mouth meaning lung puncture and heavy internal bleeding. Although cotton supposedly saved him by finding him…how I have no clue but Dewey was left for dead for minimum 15min so him surviving 2 was a ploy by Wes and Kevin to have him revealed as obsessed with Sid and working with Stu and billy as well as being involved all the way through 4. I mean what happened to his permanent nerve damage? When Wes passed 5 and 6 were basically scrapped until RS
BRING. BACK. FILM. REFERENCES. The greatest problem with the Scream franchise is that it’s become self referential instead of dipping into horror homages, which is what made it special in the first place.
I would still like to see a true crime slant to 7. The commentary could be about the current obsession with true crime. I know Sidney wrote her book, but maybe have a podcast of some sort be how her children find out. The podcast could reveal an aspect or aspects that even Sidney and/or Gale didn’t know.
@@mael8881 Kirby said in Scream VI that he was a solo killer. If Angelina was his accomplice, there's no way a podcaster would know and the FBI wouldn't.
Something I have wanted to see since watching Scream 2 for the first time is having 2 Ghostfaces killing simultaneously, but not as a team. They compete against each other throughout the movie for icon status in brutality of kills and icon status of their victims.
@Mathias_Eggimann okay, but would also be fun if they have the opening scene has a flash forward and the movie is setting as more of a flash back leading up to the beginning scene
I clicked so fast, I've been watching your old Scream videos and they are so great bro. Can you do a video where it's like "how I would have wrote scream 5"?
Kevin Williamson plot briefs are out there for 5. (Jill survives, killer starts targeting her etc). 6 was a missed opportunity. The evidence going missing from lockups could have made a great sub plot with mark kincad, Kirby was show horned in, too many super human characters surviving lethal stabbing etc…. It just seems like a spoof of the series. The only thing that movie got right for me was shotgun ghostface. That was terrifying!
Something that always annoys me is the characters keep saying “The Killer” and not “Killers”. 5 times out of 6 it’s been 2 killers, so why do they keep only looking for 1 person?
Dewey talked about that with Sidney in Scream 2. "Look Sid, if there is some freaked out psycho trying to follow in Billy Loomis' footsteps, you probably already know him, or her, or them."
I agree with all of this except I liked the brutality of Ghostface in 6. I think that's the only thing I like about that movie. I also wouldn't mind more than two killers if they managed to do it right, but you're right that two would be the safest way to nail it. The opening scene I agree with the most and have been saying this since Scream 3! So nice to have someone finally agree with me. I want homage to another horror film like 1 and 2 were! Most fans insist a phone call is a must, sadly. They don't get it like we do, Zach.
The kills or when they stabbed Chad together looked so theatrical it was bad. Everything in the theater was bad. They made it go from a movie to a theater in style. Everyone exaggerated the acting so much more. I thought the Ghostfaces would burts out in song in the reveal.
Things that haven't been done. Killer wins Killer never gets unmasked / revealed Killer not killing for revenge/ popularity/ but killing based off of morals (I e jigsaw) Bringing a killer back Letting us watch the movie from the killers eyes instead of final survivor
To add to your list, I think it would be cool if one of the killers is killed in the opening scene and the accomplice finishes the job and gets away. It would create a very suspenseful mystery when the dead killer is someone close to the new group of characters and everyone believes that someone in the group must be the accomplice.
In my opinion, Scream 7 should only have Sidney, Gale and Mark as returning characters and one of them dies at some point. I hope that they really create a tense mystery in this one and make the killer reveals and the entire third act less predictable. I think the casting also plays a huge role here. Don't cast actors as the killers who are already popular and/or have played a killer before.
To be fair, the characters not taking the attacks seriously is IMO a feature since movie 1. See Randy's "liver in the mailbox" or Tatum believing the killer is just a prank.
There were a few character who displayed varying degrees of ambivalence, but there was always some nuance to them. Mindy is very one note, and the other characters just kind of go with her schtick. It feels very inauthentic and forced to me.
Tatum thought it was a prank, but Stu was gleeful and that ended up playing into his part as being one of the killers. For not being a Ghostface, Mindy is awfully excited about people dying.
@@karendover6001 it’s like she knew she was in a Scream movie and got too excited for it when it’s supposed to be set in real life and not be too much of a parody of itself
Also, it's ok to not take it that serious or being in a bigger denial stanceif it is the first or second time stuff happens. Mindy knows too much to not take it seriously.
I feel with scream 7 on Sydney's part in the movie. I feel she should be shown as a mother who has everything she wants. But still has her past haunt her even though she claims and acts like she's at peace with it. She can be very protective of her kids and her husband can be on the opposite side to that wanting her to open up more, instead of wanting out of darkness that she should embrace her past as life lessons and not so much haunting memories she wants to forget.. And with the murders happening again it can have a negative effect between her and her husband. Issues could be there but worse due to the murders.
I think it could be an interesting story to have it follow her kids in school. School violence is a touchy subject but would be a super meta commentary on what we're experiencing so often
Or, just maybe, have them take one step further and kidnap her kids, definitely not kill bc that’s nothing like Scream I don’t think, but more of a bait to get Sidney to them. Would definitely be a step up for Scream and a different step that’s not really been shown
As much as I liked Chad, I don't know how the hell he survived in Scream 6. The guy got stabbed SO many times by two Ghostface and lived? Same for his sister. She seemed pretty dead when he left her and then she just fine, running around to join back up with everyone at the end for a final four hurray? I thought Gale was gone at the very least but nah. Scream 6 only wanted to kill randos. As far as how the kills are done, I disagree that they have to be a certain way since it's a different person under the mask every time. Makes sense for some Ghostface to be more ruthless and others to be more stealthy and clever.
I thought Chad's survival was unbelievable as well, until I read about attacks that people survived. One lady was nearly decapitated and disemboweled and survived, her name is alison botha. Be warned that her case is extremely disturbing and not for a person with a weak stomach, she's endured things the devil wouldn't even do to people in the underworld. If you are brave enough to look at the details of her survive, which I don't recommend, you will 100% believe that Chad survive is a lot more plausible
@@Lxkus I mean, people have survived near decapitations, lightning strike direct hits. Even rebar shoved through their heads. it's genuinely absurd how resilient the human body is.
@@QTEila yea on of my cousins was actually struck by lightning but comparing to other kills in the movies its like chad is just a god lmao, I totally get the body is resilient just crazy
I cut out Chad being wheeled out and Mindy running around to the ambulance... now Chad just stays dead. It didn't make any sense and Sam & Tara didn't even check up on him.
I actually don’t mind the different ghost faces having different styles of killing. After all ghost face is always a different person as apposed to Micheal Myers or Jason etc
I'd really like to see a Scream movie that doesn't rely on audience fan service. For instance, Ghostface doing the blade wipe. How would the Ghostfaces know that Billy did the iconic blade wipe once during the original killing spree? The sequels are littered with things that only the audience should know, but somehow they get incorporated into the other killer's move sets. It seems out of place in a movie that's supposed to "meta".
I appreciate your perspective and opinions but I respectfully disagree with half of your criticisms. But that’s kind of just how things roll with these movies and this genre. Either way, we will both watch this new movie and probably largely enjoy it as we have the franchise in general
I was actually brainstorming a fanfic for Scream 7 a while ago. Where Sydney’s oldest daughter (I remember reading or hearing from somewhere that Sidney has 2 daughters and 1 son) is kidnapped by a Ghostface when she is the same age as her mother in the first Scream, where the Ghostface tells Sidney “I want you to do this list of tasks I’ve given you, or I’ll hurt your daughter.” and the story is about Sidney trying to protect her two other kids, and trying rescue her daughter unharmed while trying to figure out who the Ghostfaces are, and how many while not wanting to the set of tasks the Ghostfaces are giving her, while the Ghostfaces are also out there just trying to scare Sidney and her family, with the friends of her oldest daughter being targeted. with the story also showing the kidnapped daughter’s perspective of her trying to escape as well. With there being around 4 Ghostfaces total, who I haven’t exactly decided on who they are yet, but with two of them at least being somewhat tied with Stu Macher
If they plan on doing 3 killers again, there needs to be a larger cast of secondaries. I like scream 6, but its twist of three killers was made rather obvious because of just how few characters there are aside from the core 4
I don't agree about the side characters being less realistic and more humorous in Scream 6. I mean, they were possibly the most realistic ever in terms of response. Mindy, even though she Is the horror fanatic, was terrified about being hurt again, and all of them took the matter very seriously (except for the talk about the "franchise" situation). I would rather like the characters to be less immortal maybe, since in 6 a stab is comparable to a scratch.
Mindy’s dialogue is what made me hate her in Part 6, although I loved her in Part 5. It’s fine to pretend that you are in a movie when nothing has happened to you personally, but she and her brother almost died, yet she acts like it’s all a game
16:53 Roman being presumed “dead” inside the coffin by Gale & Jennifer in the basement of Milton’s house (Scream 3) is also another instance of killer fake-out.
Killer fake out? I always call that scene Illogical and confusing. There's no reason whatsoever for Roman to pretend to be dead there. Gale checking and confirming he's dead just adds to sloppiness of it
@@FreeThinkAlways agreed. I always rationalize it as since Roman had access to the studio the body we saw was a prop that Gale & Jennifer were just too hysterical to really check out.
@@StefHefner86 A prop that looks like Roman though including his exact clothing? He's supposed to be the stab director not an actor on camera isn't he? Ive always had a problem with this scene , what makes it worse is not many people seem to talk about it or notice. This and that silly voice changer device really keep this movie down for me. Its a shame because there's elements I do love about it, including the Hollywood setting, stab set attack and the main cast actually doing detective work, finding clues. Plus it still ties in with the first 2 movies and satisfyingly completes a great trilogy with its ending
I'd argue for point 4 that Gale's role in Scream VI was already limiting her presence to the best of the film's ability because of her role similarity to Kirby as you say (except Kirby is more efficient because she is at least more tenable as a red herring). She's barely in the movie, so she gets Scream 2 abridged and then is written out, but she has to be there because it's a Ghostface in New York where she lives. So like improvement on that point is more execution than concept. As long as they don't characterize Kirby like Scream 5 Gale that will go follow any Ghostface case, there shouldn't be an issue in being able to choose between which one to include, but it would also be possible to play up the Randy elements of her character too
some things I would like to see is one of the killers being forced to do it, whether it being a threat and them not wanting to do it, but if they don't they die, or one of the killers actually helping the survivors in act 3
Great video on how Scream 6 was a goofy disappointment. Lol That opening intro is a pretty valid point. It really Shows how Scream 2 was still the best out of the franchise. I think for the best killers and their motives 1,2, and 4 had the best and most unique motives.
I think a fun approach after the franchise reaches a natural conclusion would be to have a new movie where a Ghostface obsessed with the Scream movies (not Stab) goes after the actors in Scream. Like New Nightmare
The one thing I don't like about Scream - and I love Scream - is, that Ghostface always getting killed at the end in some dump way. I want a Ghostface actually win for once. Ghostface is to clever and to powerfull, kills everyone and in the next movie, there is a completly new cast with either the same Ghostface or a different Ghostface. I want a Ghostface actually getting away with everything.
YEEEESSSSS you are nailing it! Please. Please. Please. Listen to all of this. Make the score more serious as well. All of this. Thank you for all of this! I hope this is all taken seriously. The heart is brought back. The tone. I hope the trailer doesn’t give it all away. Trick us. Lead us in excitement. Make it count. I think Kevin and Nev have these gripes and nuances and tropes in account.
The opening of Scream is iconic, hands down. Scream 2 was awesome as something relatively different with the movies theater scene which was an homage to a movie I am failing to recall at the moment (help me in the comments if you know). Scream 3 was good because it killed a legacy character in the beginning. Scream 4 tried to be crazy meta but in my opinion was 👎. Scream 5 was fun because it involved a new main character that survived. Scream 6 was eh. Again, all my opinion.
Hi Zack! It's Ernesto here. I think Scream 7 is taking it's time so they can release a good movie. I'm not done with Sidney yet cause I haven't really seeing her in that happy ending they start to talk about between 4 and 5. In 3 she was at peace, in 4 used to and in 5, calm. So what i want the most is seen her with that big great happy ending for her after all she been throw. Saying goodbye with all of this in an epic way. I trust Kevin to do so with her character!
I think VI has a bit more of a thematic throughline than just the cancel culture, though I will admit that the focus gets a bit fractured when the point of the main character's journey is "should I kill people?" The cancel culture vignette is part of a scene and also is deliberately de emphasized to have it be part of the killer's plan rather than the motivation or impetus. The "it just sucks being this hated" is the more important underlying idea. All 5 killers infiltrated Sam's life because of hatred against her specifically, and Ethan during Mindy's monologue, Dr Stone at the beginning of the movie, and the three killers at the end all underestimate Sam's value and values. She voices doubts that maybe the killer is right in both suicidal and homicidal scenarios, and a core group of people that does not hate her is what resolves that both times. (This is more of a tangent, but i find it interesting. Wayne is so obvious as a killer that the only way you can trust him is that you want to, and Sam wants to. Let's look for people in these movies that have trusted and followed her. Apart from core four, it's interestingly just Dewey, Richie, Danny and Wayne. And I think we can kind of read into the way she treats Danny and Wayne in the leadup act three as how she thinks she should have with Richie and Dewey. If that was fully the intent, I dont think the film necessarily went far enough, but it's an interesting comparison to make now that Sam's story has prematurely ended)
You had touched on everything I have had a gripe with regarding the franchise as a whole. I think the motivation for the killings needs to be more on the realistic side of things, because then the audience could be able to identify the motive as to why the killers did what they did. Also give Sidney more danger moments, where she isn't exactly to be killed off but because her children are at risk now, give her more meat on the bones sorta speak. Which was missing in Scream 4. I agree with the humor needs to be toned down a bit, and the opening kill needs to be more inventive. Hell, we know we are going to a Scream movie so slapping the title card isn't really necessary after the kill. Go back to the original and have the title card be at the start. I am sure the movie is going to be good. I have faith in Kevin Williamson.
You have some of the very best scream, videos! Actually, the best. Writers and producers and directors need to get with you and other Scream stans to get ideas from before they even start on 7. It needs an overhaul. And no woke sh*t, people are so over that.
I still like the idea of there being two ghostfaces who are targeting mostly the same people at the same time, but they aren't working together and their motives are vastly different cause maybe one of them targets the other not knowing they're also a ghostface and it's either reveiled that one of them is a ghost face or they do another fake death and we don't know or something--no good ideas on the other side of that idea so far, but it would be interesting to see how that plays out. I feel like there could be a lot of thrilling moments as well as comedy to come out of two killers not working together but maybe sometimes getting in the way of each other.
something like what Ryan Murphy did in the second season of Scream Queens where they revealed the killers like halfway through the season and for the rest of the season, we just see them bicker and argue over who to kill and why they’re doing what they’re doing and how ones own motive can conflict with the other killers motives. Now, there was 3 killers in that season which is something that might not work in the Scream movies since there is usually two killers most of the time but it would be something cool that i’d like to see for the movies if they ever approach this angle of none of the killers working together
Billy Loomis Stu Macher Debbie Salt Mickey Altieri Roman Bridger Jill Roberts Charlie Walker Richie Kirsch Amber Freeman Wayne Kirsch Ethan Kirsch Quinn Kirsch That's a 33% - 66% split of female to male killers which is a statistical over-representation for female serial killers (15% in the real world).
I'm firmly in the ''Don't bring back Stu as the killer'' camp. But I think it would be a brilliant troll job if they planted seeds throughout the movie that he's still alive and he shows up the final act to SAVE Sidney from the killer and sacrifices himself in a weird redemption arc.
I know they fired Melissa Barrera, but such an interesting idea would be if he sacrificed himself to save Sam, since she’s all he has left of Billy. Could also give us some good closure on the true nature of the relationship between Billy and Stu
The issue is all these ideas to bring him back change who Stu is. He's not the mastermind manipulating minds for his evil plans, he was the "partner in case you get caught" for Billy.
@@strifenineteen Oh I'm sorry. I didn't know we were talking to Wes Craven himself... Just let the fans have what they want, man. Things in the franchise get bent out of shape a lot of times, like the amount of times a victim survives an attack
@@strifenineteen You're acting like someone can't create a plan with years in the making after an accomplice is out of the picture. His role isn't always gonna be #2 next to Billy when Billy isn't even around anymore. People change
From the marketing and the opening scene, I thought we were getting something really unique with the S6 killers, so I was very bitter when they turned out to just be the S2 killers lolll A motive that doesn't relate to Stab, or a previous killer or victim would be very fresh; perhaps something relating to Sidney's life off-screen between S4-S5...
I agree with all the things you've mentioned. Despite enjoying Scream VI quite a bit, I still think it's probably the most repetitive and redundant of the franchise, outside of changing the setting and having 3 killers it's the first sequel where I'm starting to feel the fatigue a bit. Outside of the superficial changes 6 didn't have much new or interesting to say.
I want a killer to get away and the other caught. That way it makes an 8 intense for who it is. They have longer to drag out the killer/killers. I’ve said since 4 her story is done, if Jill didn’t die I could have seen Sidney’s story continue, but 5 and 6 held no place for her it felt pointless, like how many times can a killer come after her before the government step In and hide her in Russia
I hope they don’t show commercial giving away the killer like scream 5 I went to the movie theaters knowing who the killers were off hand Richie and amber which took away the funniest and mystery and enjoyment of the movie same with scream 6 they didn’t give it away but I knew off hand one of the killers was Ethan 😢 before I watched it for the first time so hope they give better character development in scream 7 and suspenseful moments in scream 7 great case scenes , scream 6 wa amazing though wish Sam and Tara 2:10 was coming
But they could be fixed. Characters in film and television can be written better in sequels or other seasons, take the characters in The Clone Wars for example. Ahsoka started as an annoying twerp who was universally disliked, but over the seasons they made her a more mature and strong character and has since became a fan favorite Star Wars character. People can and should take constructive criticism and use it to shape their characters and stories into something better than they were before. The writers and directors were robbed of the opportunity to make Samantha as great and beloved as Sidney Prescott because the executives decided to unjustly fire Mellissa over the fact that she supported Palestine instead of the ones that are bombing innocent civilians.
100% agree, the whole situation is a mess. Sidney is my favorite final girl ever, but that is precisely the reason I don’t want to go down that road again. What are we going to do with her that isn’t insanely disrespectful? Kill her, her husband, or her kids? Can we just not. Such a difficult needle to thread plotwise …. Whereas with Sam…. We were just getting somewhere with her character. And for god’s sake if Stu comes back I will lose my mind.
what i really want in a scream movie is to see 2 killers yet one is suspenseful and the other is more aggressive. both of them being completely clueless of each other at being ghostface, also showing ghostface is active while the second killer is shown (not in costume) tricking the audience into thinking it’s one killer throughout the entire film.
i love you zack cherry!! you make scream better for me because you speak for US! i agree with everything, but i do want to see sidney live. i don’t think it’s fair that she was given a happy ending in the 6th installment and now she’s back after all the fiasco that happened. i’d really like to see everyone’s character grow if they’re gonna be living. if we add knew characters then can we just have them toyed with throughout? i miss the idea that ghostface was an AMATEUR. the 5th and 6th movie made it feel like they were getting stronger and that there was supernatural element still, but the mysterious character underneath is lost. i felt like yoy could easily pin who was ghostface in 6 as well. the opening to the movie was great imo because it was shocking! i miss shock value. all in all, sidney, gale, and kirby should live if anything. ❤
Imagine this: when the two killers reveal themselves in the third act they found out that a couple of the victims were killed by someone else. Then, while the final girl is fighting one of the killers the other one is being hunted down by the third mysterious ghostface, who ends up killing him/her and disappearing. And we never know who it was or the motive. But the clues are there. Not only it would make it highly rewatchable trying to find out who it was, but TH-cam channels like this one would have a field day.
I'm really looking forward to Courtney Cox. She should give it some heat. I'm sorry she's underrated. She made the image of Gail iconic. And her acting is great. Yes, time spares no one, but Sid and Gail are those real women you want to watch❤️
Excellent and cogent analysis, as always, and you look extra cute today! What I need from the next movie: an actual mystery. The only killers I didn't call from almost the jump were Roman and Nancy. People whine that Roman wasn't on screen long enough to justify him being the killer; in truth, he didn't need to be on the screen that much as his backstory sufficiently resolved his motive. All the killers were telegraphed a mile away if you paid attention, which, isn't that what we're supposed to be doing? Which brings me to my next need. I don't need Sidney Blueprint Prescott to return only to watch her watch Ghostface kill her husband and/or kids. That is not interesting or compelling. It's also nothing new. Her father died off-screen. We've had to watch her put down her brother and her cousin. Her mother's life fueled the first three movies. Give Sidney an actual reason to be here and I'm all in. Maybe if there's a GF somewhere and Kirby is called in as FBI, she calls in Sidney as a consultant. Honestly, as much as I love Gale, she can sit this one out. It's one thing for Sidney to be invulnerable - I accept that for her, as apparently GF is the same when the mask is on - but Gale has been shot, stabbed, chased, car-wrecked, etc. multiple times. She's also on Medicare at this point and she deserves a rest. Have Sidney call Gale, who's still recovering, maybe at Jennifer's beach house, because if Kirby can be alive, so can Jennifer. Sidney calls and Gale whines and Jennifer shouts, "My Gale would be walking by now! My Gale would have secured a seven-figure deal with Netflix for a limited series starring her BFF Jennifer Jolie!" And then finally Sidney can laugh about something.
bro has always been so aware of what made the originals so great. I think itd be cool to do like a vacation thing like the 2nd I know what you did last summer
Perhaps a current social commentary they could explore is "celebrity boundaries". (Think Chappell Roan). So kinda about how extreme fans treat their icons like they own them and that these celebs owe the fans what they demand because it is them that they believe keep their idols famous. Since Sidney is a known public figure, this could easily be tied to her character. Essentially, Ghostface in 7 could be an obsessed fan of Sid (as opposed to Amber and Richie who were fans of Stab)
Been dying to hear your thoughts on 7 🤘🏻. They have such big shoes to fill with this one, they almost have to do something completely out of left field or it’ll seem like a retreading disappointment. I’m not totally against a “Cult of Stu” angle if done right but they might mirror Scream 3 and go with 1 killer again. Great vid ✌️
Great video! Def agree with your thoughts here. Glad you called out the Gail chase scene from 6 because it was straight garbage compared to her chase in 2. One thing I would NOT like to see, is a spoilery trailer or movie poster. The killers from 5 were spoiled to me walking in because I noticed Sid and Gail fighting Amber in the trailer and Richie wearing the blue flannel in the movie poster looking super sus. lmao
I think a good way to enhance Sidney’s story is to introduce family members of murder victims. We know that Dewey became a big brother to her after Tatum’s death, but what about CiCi’s family, or Casey’s parents? These are people who lost loved ones because they were physically near Sidney. There should be a lot of anger there.
Awesome vid! As an aside, I LOVE your opening scene 🎬 maximizer for Scream 4! Not only would it have punched up the recording of the victims aspects, it would have been fun watching for dynamics between duos throughout the film to try to guess which pair were the killers. I’m just going to pretend that element is there from here on out on future views, along with the deleted scene for Jenny and Marnie’s cop scene. 😄 Thank you for the great content!
Two things I want: 1) one of the killers not being caught leaving clearly a hook for a sequel . 2) rhe sequel starting right off where the previous movie (something like happend in Halloween).
All I hear is “Scream 5 and 6” in every segment, like Scream 3 and 4 were perfect. I love all six Scream films, but I can recognize the flaws in each, not just in Scream 5 and Scream 6.
@Marcus616. I think it’s because like myself, Zack was really disappointed by both Scream 5 and 6. I was really disappointed as well. But Zack has mentioned in the past the flaws with Scream 3 and 4. Here are my flaws with them Scream 3’s flaw was that it was too comedic, but Neve/Sidney and Scott/Roman both save the movie. Scream 4’s flaw was being over the top with the Meta schtick, the opening was full on Scary Movie parody. Scream 5’s flaws was it was too safe and uncreative, and the new cast not being interesting enough. Scream 6’s flaw was the Core 4 not being interesting enough

I love your idea for the Jenny opening kill having boots on the other side of the garage, that would have been so badass!
I would still like to see a true crime slant to 7. The commentary could be about the current obsession with true crime. I know Sidney wrote her book, but maybe have a podcast of some sort be how her children find out. The podcast could reveal an aspect or aspects that even Sidney and/or Gale didn’t know.
Or maybe the dark side of True Crime which the Shrine also hints to in 6.
YES! Let's make Angelina the second killer of scream 3 post-mortem and bring her twin sister as a red herring

I was thinking about a true crime limited series in Woodsboro about the original spree and maybe the killers making content for that instead of Stab.
Something I have wanted to see since watching Scream 2 for the first time is having 2 Ghostfaces killing simultaneously, but not as a team. They compete against each other throughout the movie for icon status in brutality of kills and icon status of their victims.
that feels like jumping the shark. I can't imagine this movie being very good.
Maybe if they thought they're in contest 🤔 with each other but have goal to take out as much victims as possible

5 times out of 6 it’s been 2 killers, so why do they keep only looking for 1 person?
mindy constantly mentions it being two people
Yeah but they never know if it's more than 1 killer
4 out of 6 times it's been two killers
Dewey talked about that with Sidney in Scream 2. "Look Sid, if there is some freaked out psycho trying to follow in Billy Loomis' footsteps, you probably already know him, or her, or them."
@@AlexxxLennox erm he was just woke and including non binary people stupid
Killer wins
Killer never gets unmasked / revealed
Killer not killing for revenge/ popularity/ but killing based off of morals (I e jigsaw)
Bringing a killer back
Letting us watch the movie from the killers eyes instead of final survivor
To add to your list, I think it would be cool if one of the killers is killed in the opening scene and the accomplice finishes the job and gets away. It would create a very suspenseful mystery when the dead killer is someone close to the new group of characters and everyone believes that someone in the group must be the accomplice.
I wish there was a love button for this. This would be amazing.

@@karendover6001 I did not mention Stu, because I agree that this was on purpose and good character work.
A first person POV through the killers perspective would make a great opening, similar to Scream 3 where Roman was spying on Christine in the shower.
Homage of “Halloween” 🥹🎃
Would definitely be a step up for Scream and a different step that’s not really been shown
So a school shooter but uses ghostface?
@@atimetraveler4910like a school stabber, per se
I feel like all this stuff you're asking for is what you're gonna get. Especially with Kevin Williamson at the helm.
Don't forget all the times he was stabbed in scream 5 also lmao. I always joke about how that guy is still alive it just doesn't make sense
No plot armour! No 'everyone survives their fatal stab wounds'!
I would love to see how creative the stunt coordinator could get with kill scene featuring 2 ghost faces at that same time
And not making it look silly and theatrical.
Ya but blade whipping is kinda common sense so it doesn't slip

Word up
A few days ago I was thinking: I haven’t seen a Zack Cherry video in a while
So as soon as I saw this video I instantly clicked
Happy to surprise you. Wish I could be making more videos, but I’ve been busy making my movie.
I appreciate your perspective and opinions but I respectfully disagree with half of your criticisms. But that’s kind of just how things roll with these movies and this genre. Either way, we will both watch this new movie and probably largely enjoy it as we have the franchise in general
Scream 6 had an interesting idea of revealing who one of the killers was at the beginning. I'd like to see that play out longer.
Downright favorite TH-camr. So glad to see some Scream content and just want to say goodluck with production on your upcoming movie!
19:17 I agree
I’m still not over RANDY’S death in 2CREAM
@@FreeThinkAlwaysthis could have been time they used to develop Roman as a character tbh
@@FreeThinkAlwaysIf you did research, you would know its possible to lower your pulse to zero to none, it takes practice though and years of it.
Brilliant analysis, couldn't agree more with all you said/suggested.
You should be hired as an official fan consultant during 7th's production!
Awful take
New fan here! I recently watched all the Scream movies for the first time. Amazing experience, and the first one is definitely my favorite.
I think a fun approach after the franchise reaches a natural conclusion would be to have a new movie where a Ghostface obsessed with the Scream movies (not Stab) goes after the actors in Scream. Like New Nightmare
Should have just kept it as a trilogy . Scream 3 is underrated
Scream 6 had a dope opening and it was different
Roger L Jackson's ghostface/killer voice is just perfect.
"He's Behind Me Isn't He" ahhhh intro but W VID!!!
Dude, have you applied to be a writer in these movies??? We need your ideas.
Thank you! I personally wouldn’t want to be a writer on an existing IP. Currently directing my own movie that I wrote though.
Hey Zack! Great video man.
Yep I agree with all your points, great video!
I think VI has a bit more of a thematic throughline than just the cancel culture, though I will admit that the focus gets a bit fractured when the point of the main character's journey is "should I kill people?"
The cancel culture vignette is part of a scene and also is deliberately de emphasized to have it be part of the killer's plan rather than the motivation or impetus.
You saying you didn't like Gale's chase scene from Scream 6, thank you so much, her chase scene from Scream 2 was 10x better

Great points Zack, I struggle to see what arc Sidney is going to have in the next one but let's hope Kevin can do her justice.
Have him come back as a Ghostface that hunts another Ghostface
The issue is all these ideas to bring him back change who Stu is. He's not the mastermind manipulating minds for his evil plans, he was the "partner in case you get caught" for Billy.
@@strifenineteen Oh I'm sorry. I didn't know we were talking to Wes Craven himself... Just let the fans have what they want, man. Things in the franchise get bent out of shape a lot of times, like the amount of times a victim survives an attack

Love your videos!! You make my day ❤
Hopefully with Kevin Williamson back, we'll see these things 😁😁
Maybe don't even have an opening kill scene at all. Completely switch it up.
That would be great.
Another quality video! It’s hard to say what else can be done with this franchise. Except for bringing Joel back.
I've been wanting this since Scream 2
That man is one of my favorite characters as he only made smart decisions
FINALLY! IVE BEEN WAITING ALL YEAR
I’d honesty like the killer to be one of Sidney’s kids. Links right back to Scream 3 with Roman being Sidney’s half-brother.
Excellent observations! I enjoyed this video and hope they make some of these adjustments.
I'd like the directors to bring back unrightfully fired actresses
No, please. Those characters are annoying.

They need a shopping mall or grocery chase would make it fun !

Finally a Zack Cherry video 🎉🎉🎉🎉
i love you zack cherry!! you make scream better for me because you speak for US! i agree with everything, but i do want to see sidney live. i don’t think it’s fair that she was given a happy ending in the 6th installment and now she’s back after all the fiasco that happened. i’d really like to see everyone’s character grow if they’re gonna be living. if we add knew characters then can we just have them toyed with throughout? i miss the idea that ghostface was an AMATEUR. the 5th and 6th movie made it feel like they were getting stronger and that there was supernatural element still, but the mysterious character underneath is lost. i felt like yoy could easily pin who was ghostface in 6 as well. the opening to the movie was great imo because it was shocking! i miss shock value. all in all, sidney, gale, and kirby should live if anything.
Love your 1st point. There's so many alternatives opening we can use.
mama a GHOSTFACE behind you 💜
I believe the setting is going to take place in Seattle, Washington.
bro has always been so aware of what made the originals so great. I think itd be cool to do like a vacation thing like the 2nd I know what you did last summer
Feels extremely nitpicky complaining about New York. Thought it actually was a breath of fresh air haha..
It wasnt even filmed in new york, it was in montreal....and barely
Great vid ✌️
i feel like a smart way to expand the franchise further would to not kill off a ghostface but rather have them get away with it
Great video! Def agree with your thoughts here. Glad you called out the Gail chase scene from 6 because it was straight garbage compared to her chase in 2. One thing I would NOT like to see, is a spoilery trailer or movie poster. The killers from 5 were spoiled to me walking in because I noticed Sid and Gail fighting Amber in the trailer and Richie wearing the blue flannel in the movie poster looking super sus. lmao
It seems as through the creatives have very little control over the marketing. But I agree with this completely.
Thanks Stephanie! Although I can’t take full credit for the scream 4 idea. Edward came up with it on the podcast.
@@ZackCherry Props to Edward! I forgot that and will have to watch those again sometime soon. 🥰
Scream 4 is trash.
Two things I want: 1) one of the killers not being caught leaving clearly a hook for a sequel . 2) rhe sequel starting right off where the previous movie (something like happend in Halloween).
I believe with Kevin at the helm as you said he will deliver with what your asking for 🙏😊
great video, I definitely agree with what you said with how they keep bringing sidney back and nothing really changing as far as he character and arc
All I hear is “Scream 5 and 6” in every segment, like Scream 3 and 4 were perfect. I love all six Scream films, but I can recognize the flaws in each, not just in Scream 5 and Scream 6.
Preach.
@Marcus616. I think it’s because like myself, Zack was really disappointed by both Scream 5 and 6. I was really disappointed as well.
But Zack has mentioned in the past the flaws with Scream 3 and 4.
Here are my flaws with them
Scream 3’s flaw was that it was too comedic, but Neve/Sidney and Scott/Roman both save the movie.

I hope scream 7 will be the most brutal
