One thing I want to point out about Mickey which usually goes unnoticed (in regards to his being 'duped' by Nancy Loomis) is that as soon as Nancy said "there isn't going to be a trial" and aimed to shoot him, Mickey had an instant look of recognition on his face. He knew immediately what was about to happen and raised his gun to shoot her first. Unfortunately since Nancy already had her gun pointed, she was faster on the draw than he was.

Ghostface: "Sorry, that's the wrong answer."

He is not from the Scream franchise, he is his own character since the rights to the Mask were obtained from FunWorld. Danny is incredibly different from any other Ghostface as his method of killing is way different. He is very smart about everything and takes his times to kill someone. He stalks his victims for even months on end, just so he can strike at the right time. He is more smart and careful, while also still being just as violent as any other Ghostface, if not more than everyone that has dawn the mask. I think Scream 6 was a ton of fun and Scream 5 was a pretty solid restart of the franchise but the one down side I've seen so far is that the writers seem to be having a difficult time creating compelling motives for the killers. Scream 2 worked so well for me because Billy's mom is convincing in the idea that she wants pure revenge for losing her son. In Scream 6 it kinda felt like a leap to have this stern, disciplined police detective flip into a deranged serial killer just because his son was a nut. I haven't seen anyone else bring this up specifically but it feels borderline fantastical to tell us that an entire family (2 sons, daughter, and dad) are all down to be serial killers.

    • @FLMG27

My first reason behind why Scream 6 lost me is because of a whole family of serial killers. Felt like Texas Chainsaw instead of Scream. Plus we've already done the whole "familial revenge" plot in 2. It started to feel like this new series is having a pattern of trying to copy and "one up" the originals like with 5 doing the betraying boyfriend from the first. What I loved about 2-4 is they generally went in different directions of motives and roles each time.

I think Quinn could’ve been a pretty could killer if she hadn’t faked her death so soon, and if she had more screen time in act 3, because she was a pretty fun character. Hey Zack! I've been a big fan of your channel for a while, and I always look forward to the great Scream content. I completely respect your opinion as everyone should, and I understand we all like what we like for different reasons. With that being said, I have to admit I was pretty surprised with this ranking since you and I usually seem to be on the same page with things. It's all good, though. I hope you don't mind me sharing a few of my own thoughts for the sake of conversation. This is in no way an attempt to change your mind or influence your ranking. I've had a TH-cam channel for 13 years so I know how toxic people can be. That is not my intention at all. Again, I truly do respect your opinion, but thought a respectful discussion between Scream fans would be cool with you.
First, Jason. While I definitely understand ranking him dead last, in fact, he's last in my ranking, I was surprised to hear you don't count him as a full-fledged Scream killer. I almost feel like this is a disservice to Scream VI. They finally gave us a Ghostface reveal early in the film so we could see how that might play out. Not only that, we witness Jason make a phone call, wear the costume, deliver the opening kill, interact with Tara as we learn his motive, and then get killed himself. There is another killer on this list that literally does not kill anyone dressed as Ghostface. I can understand not including Greg, though. I also get not including the TV series killers. I've done rankings with and without them. However, Jason is undoubtedly a full-fledged Ghostface in my opinion, last or not.
Ranking Wayne last might be the most shocking thing of all. Even if the Scream VI killers aren't your favorites (which is clearly the case), I'm not sure I understand why Wayne would be lower than Quinn and Ethan. He was the mastermind, did most of the killing including the badass Bodega kills, set everything up such as the fake names and even a replacement body for Quinn, and not only acquired the items for Richie's collection, but built the actual shrine which is one of the coolest things in the entire franchise. Not to mention, he was sure to place that blame for that on Jason and Greg.
Ethan is the reddest of all red herrings who turns out to not be a red herring at all. I also like what you said about him killing to gain acceptance. Love that. I understand why Ethan would be this low, though... just not above his father. I don't think he finished Mindy off because that just wasn't the plan. He wasn't in costume and was known to be with her. Had she died, of course he would look guilty. Bringing her to the hospital would allow him to potentially get away with it had he made it out of the climax alive.
Amber is a favorite for many. I didn't board the hype train on her until recently, but every time I watch Scream 5, I appreciate her more as a character and killer. She is the female Mickey, or more fittingly, Stu. She's a psycho with a tie to the mastermind (in this case Richie), and there is something appealing about her contention for Sam not having to do with her treatment of Tara, but that she was ultimately sleeping with her boyfriend. Clever touch. I agree about Mikey Madison's energy and spunk. Love it. Not sure what you mean about Richie having a better track record with efficiency. I mean, she attacked more people than he did and had a higher kill count than him (or at least equal) including legacy character Dewey. If Nancy gets extra credit for killing Randy in only his second appearance, Amber deserves maybe even more credit for finally being the one to finish off Dewey. I obviously have her ranked higher, although she was much lower after my first watch of Scream 5. Now she's pretty high for me.
Charlie has the second highest kill count behind Roman. Sure, he wasn't the mastermind, but neither was Mickey who also did most of the work. I know Charlie is usually a bottom tier killer for many, but I find him to be one of the most underrated in the franchise.
Quinn is honestly my second to last. I just don't find the appeal. She has one kill, which while somewhat impressive, is of the character who has the least amount of screentime. Her attack on Gale fails. Her attack on Mindy fails. Her attack on Chad fails. Her attacks during the climax fail. At the very least, she should be below Amber who was punished for lack of efficiency, yet Quinn was far less efficient.
I have Richie somewhere in the middle of my ranking as well. He's a fun character, but a pathetic Ghostface like you said. That's also the point and part of his charm. I think what we learn about him in Scream VI propels him a bit for me. In Scream 5 though, Amber is by far more menacing both as Ghostface and after the reveal.
Roman is my favorite Ghostface and arguably the objective best. He did it all alone (if you don't take the Angelina plan into consideration), has the highest kill count, and in my opinion, had the best chance to get away with it since no one alive would have known his motive. If not for Sidney's bullet proof vest, Roman wins. He was also the one who started it all. Yes, Billy and Stu were the original Ghostfaces, but without Roman's "direction," none of it would have happened. I know he's not everyone's favorite because many rank Scream 3 last, but I feel he at least deserves to be in the top 3 for kill count, intelligence, formidability, success rate, motive, etc. I could go on and on about why he's my favorite. It sounded like most of your issues with him are actually with the movie's script and not him as a killer. You practically said it yourself. Poor Roman. lol.
While Charlie is probably the most underrated Ghostface, Jill is easily the most overrated for me. First of all, according to you (and I agree) she literally doesn't kill anyone as Ghostface. I disagree that she's the smartest. Again, I credit Roman with that. I'd even say Nancy and Billy were smarter. Jill unnecessarily gave herself away. Her lack of intelligence did her in. Sure, she kept her hands clean for the most part, but what did it matter if she was going to make such an amateurish mistake? The shock of her reveal is way more impressive than her as an actual Ghostface. Jason was more of a Ghostface than Jill. I think people get distracted by the scene of her beating herself up. It's awesome, but it doesn't make her a good killer at all. She was way too sloppy and bland as a character like you said.
Stu for me is maybe the most subjective. He's just a great character and in my personal top 3. I do think it's Lillard's performance that raises him for me. As a killer, he's slightly above average, but hey, what can I say, I do love Stu. I agree he's smarter than he appears, and without him, Billy couldn't have done as much.
Nancy is easily the most shocking reveal in the franchise. No one could have seen that coming, and I'll always remember watching that reveal in the theater on opening day... BUT she only killed one person. If Amber doesn't get bonus points for killing Dewey, Nancy shouldn't for killing Randy. It was one kill and a sloppy one at that. What if the guys playing music hadn't walked by at that exact moment? She could have been caught. I get the appreciation of her reveal, but as a killer, top 3 is very high. Of course, that's just my opinion.
Billy at #2... sure. It makes sense. I do find him a bit overrated, mainly because of what you said about Stu. Without Stu, Billy doesn't accomplish much. Just because he was the first doesn't mean he's one of the best, but I do get it. He's iconic so I completely understand that placing.
Mickey being a serial killer is a really interesting concept. He's like the Beth of the TV series in a way. Ironically, I do prefer her. Mickey's intelligence goes out the window with how he is duped by Nancy. He just felt like a pawn to me, even more than Charlie. At least Charlie was, in his mind, killing for his girlfriend and also killing people he genuinely seemed to like (like you said about Mickey). He's more mid-tier for me when it comes to Ghostfaces, and unfortunately, I think he might be one of the most forgettable for casual viewers. I actually think his motive would've been better had it happened later in the franchise. His reveal is pretty lackluster in my opinion, possibly because he wasn't originally supposed to be a killer.
Well, I'll conclude by repeating, I absolutely respect your opinions, and hope you can respect mine. Please feel free to respond. I can talk about this stuff for days. Thanks for all you do on this channel, and I look forward to your next video!

1 Stu - completely Matthew's performance, every line delivery is just stuck in my brain
2 Billy - The real OG, like you said he still has the most impact on the overall franchise out of any killer
3 Mrs Loomis - The best hidden in plain sight killer. not to mention those crazy eyes
4 Richie - ya I know but I love his performance, especially when he's revealed to be the pathetic dweeb he is, it helps to not glorify these psychos when they just completely crumble
5 Mickey - The lack of screentime does keep him from getting any higher for me, he could've easily been another Stu in my book
6 Jill - Her motivation was way ahead of its time and obviously the self mutilation sequence is amazing
7 Amber - I like her lack of motivation tbh, it's kinda the same with Stu because he never really gave a motivation either, but before the reveal she wasn't really that interesting
8 Roman - Purely for the fact that I respect him going solo and being such an effective killer, the main problems are really more of a script issue and not the character
9 Charlie - KIrby actually started to like him, imagine fumbling this bad
10 Wayne - I don't mind the camp of the performance tbh, it at least makes him more memorable for me
11 Ethan - I have already forgotten this guy
12 Quinn - I have also forgotten her but at least Ethan got a better death

My ranking is Billy, Mickey, Stu, Roman, Mrs. Loomis, Jill, Quinn, Charlie, Richie, Bailey, Amber, and Ethan.
Billy, Mickey, and Roman are the smartest to me. And the scene in the precinct where Mickey is able to plant that seed of doubt in Sidney’s mind really screwed her up for the rest of the movie. Roman was ultimately the mastermind, Billy carried out his plan so well, and Stu was pure chaos that was fun to watch.

Stu is probably the craziest of them all. He legit had no reason for killing anyone except for the thrill of it. The fact he was the one to set up moat of Billy's targets without he killing as many, shows just how insane he really was.

Roman is my favorite Ghostface! Because of his well-written dialogue in the end scene, Scott Foley's acting, and the fact that he has been the only solo killer, really make him a credible mastermind, IMO. Thank you for bringing up the fight scene between him and Sidney at the end. For most of the other Ghostfaces, you'll notice that once the mask comes off, they become less physically formidable, slower, etc. But not Roman. And even though this bit is Roger Jackson and not Scott Foley, Roman's Ghostface has my favorite lines of dialogue/monologue "She had a new life and a new name, Maureen PRESCOTT! YOU were the only child she claimed, Sidney! She shut me out in the cold forEVER, her OWN SONNNNNN...." the way Jackson says that is just perfection. It is a fair criticism that there's really nothing throughout the movie, even when watched on repeat viewings, to hint at Roman being Ghostface, but on the other hand, his reveal was at least surprising, unlike the reveals in Scream 5 and 6. I think the film does a pretty good job of making you think it is the detective without being too obviously misleading.
Mrs. Loomis is my #2. I think she was the most surprising reveal, and she and Roman had the best motives.

Controversial, but I like your top pick. Mickey is underrated and I think the effect he had on Sidney is more than even Billy and Stu. He killed her best friend and boyfriend and would have killed her if Mrs. Loomis hadn't double-crossed him so she could get the satisfaction of the kill herself. I also think the scene in the play, hiding among the cloaked and masked figures, is very underrated and is especially interesting to analyze on rewatch because you initially think, "Oh Sidney's cracking" but you clearly see him run offstage the second after he scares her. Prime psychological torture and he didn't even have a grudge against her. He was just an already active serial killer who wanted college tuition money and fame.

Charlie is still so underrated IMO. The scene where we think he kills Kirby tells so much about his character. The pay off to the not so subtle crush they hinted at in the first scene with him and Kirby. The fact that he has these deep feelings for Kirby, while still being this deeply disturbed individual. Kirby and Jill represent the duality of Charlie's internal struggle. On the one side, he's attracted to this normal, strong individual in Kirby that represents his desire to be normal and to fit in. On the other side, he falls for Jill's manipulation as she embraces him the way Kirby doesn't. So in the almost kill scene, you see that pain come out because he all but admits that if Kirby had shown even the slightest interest in Charlie sooner, he may have gone down a different path. You see the pain in his face when he stabs her. It's not only the pain of the rejection he's felt from her for years, but the pain he has in what he's become because he's asking why couldn't this affection have come sooner, and maybe I wouldn't be who I am today. Then when Jill betrays him, it's such a tragic karmatic retribution. Also, Charlie kills everyone lol.

I always go back and forth between Billy and Mickey as my number. Mickey definitely is the scariest because of the whole him being a hired killer thing. Never thought about how many people he might have killed before Nancy found him. That might permanently bump him above Billy for me. Not to mention I love his motive of wanting to be caught and turn his trial into a spectacle. I tend to favor the more unique motives above the standard revenge ones that have been the basis for a good chunk of the killers from the franchise.

All of the above reasons were better: home destroyed by maternal abandonment, child's death, gaining infamy as a murderer, maternal rejection, neglectful mother, and need for attention. Even Stu and Charlie's motives are better and are more in line with real life. Other slash movies like Urban Legend and Prom Night had better motives.

Mickey was literally gone for half the movie. His backstory about being a serial killer is cool, but I just wanted more screen time.
Also I do think Jill was the to kill Hoss and Perkins, there’s just no way Charlie would’ve had enough time to show up to Jill’s house and kill them, drive them down the street, then go back for Sidney and Kate. I think Jill snuck out, killed them, loaded them back into the car with Charlie’s help, and then drove the car down the street where she probably was picked up by kirby.

The logistics aren't as tight with Scream 4, but it's established that Kirby picked up Jill and they had already been at Kirby's house for a while before Charlie and Robbie arrived. And then later on Charlie was the one who was holding onto the cops gun, which he gives to Jill.
