Athiest here! Funny thing to stumble upon here and im gonna try and give my viewpoints on the video! Im not anti-theist unless its actually harmful (Jedi sure arent!), just dont believe. I love Star Wars and am currently doing religous studies, not anything specifically about mormonism though! This is going to a compilation of thoughts throughout the video, i hope its not to confusing :) First thing I found funny is you saying no one gets too worked up about Star Wars is that no one gets too heated as its not real, youd be surprised lol haha. People can get pretty bitter lol. I agree partially with the statement you said that the Church is undoubtably good. It can be argued that the Church has brought about lots of good and lots of bad. In the case of the negative impacts its usually due to someone hijacking the Church to promote a way of thinking, however the (many) good deeds shouldnt be taken for granted, after all, thiests and athiests both (generally) have moral compasses independant of belief, and many Christian teachings promote goodwill. Some athiests see the church as being an authority that works under the guise of being good, but being no better than other organisations, while using God as an excuse (since athiests dont believe). This sadly gives some athiests impression that the Church is a scapegoat for bad deeds and the good-meaning Christians have been decieved to allow this to happen. Its an arguament that is reasonable to come to if you dont beliebe, but is nevertheless bred from shortsightedness. I just wanna be clear that those arent my views, i couldnt care less what faith you are as long as you are awesome and make a net positive impact! :D Aha! you countered that last point pretty eloquently! I like your reasoning! you can see where it comes from, the Church in no means is a perfect authority, but because it presents itself as being good (through no fault of its own) it has higher expectations to rise to. If that expectation isnt met, the Church cant be that good right? So now its a hard nut to crack because you have to argue the Church isnt that bad, despite acknowledging that there are many cases of people using the church to take power, because if you dont acknowledge it you seem like you either misplace faith or are indifferent towards evil, i like your thinking! Haha you continued to day something really similar to what I said, please be more contrarian in your next video, so i have more new things to say The video talking about republic not being good because of taking time to intervene in the invasion of Naboo by the Trade Federation is quite funny because Senator Palpatine (otherwise known as Emperor Palpatine) was the one who orchestrated the invasion in order to gain more power in the Republic due to causing a vote of no confidence agaisnt Supreme Chancellor Vorum to be held, leading him to claim the mantle due to him being from Naboo. Flametroopers exist.
