GJ, 29, and Jessica, 30, are a polyamorous couple from Houston, Texas. The pair have been together for nine years and married for six. Jessica told GJ that she was bisexual on their first date, they started opening up their relationship casually to other women, but eventually decided that they were looking for a consistent relationship with a third party. Since opening up their relationship the outside world has been critical of their choice, online trolls have commented "go to hell!" and "hell has a place for you". Their loved ones have voiced their concerns too, Jessica's mother Sonya told Truly: "I felt like she was going nuts, I don't freaking get it." While GJ's mom Sonya said: "I felt like marriage is supposed to be between a man and a wife, just those two, anything else is just too much." In the video, the couple confront their mothers on their negative opinions of non-monogamy and meet up with one of their ex-girlfriends to see if they can reunite as a throuple.

I kind of understand both sides. I'm also poly, with a man and a woman with me. I was lucky enough to not have to deal with family stuff. But my partners have close family members. Some accepted. Some not so much. At work, we don't talk about our private life at all, except with a few chosen people. We deal with it every single day. Think about all the issues of a traditional relationship, now multiply. Yup, we do not just have the fun parts. We have the whole package.
I love this for them. They are mature enough to know what they want and mentally stable to handle everything that comes with this type of relationship. It is no one's place to pass judgment on them.

I agree with both the parents. As far as I'm concerned people who are in these poly relationships and open marriages just want to see other people and not commit to each other. Monogamous marriages fail all the time, but polyarmous relationships seem to have an even higher chance of failing. There is just too much going on, too many problems that can arise that wouldn't if it was a two person relationship. And involving your children in this girlfriend hunting is just messed up as well, children already struggle with stuff like their divorced parent dating again, but being in a marriage and then adding random people to your home unnecessarily is harmful. And they will be so confused as to why their family is set up differently than other kids. If they were gonna do it, they could at least have done it before having children.
The way the family members said "be regular" put out major vibes of conformity. Everyone should be able to have a relationship (or relationships) that they find enjoyable. As long as their not hurting anyone, I don't see the problem. 🤷🏻♀️

I'm a bi, polyamorous, married woman who is pregnant with my first child.
My mom didn't respond well at all when I came out as bi, nor two years later when I came out as polyamorous.
But when I accepted my bisexuality after 26 years of denial (partly due to my homophobic mom) I had to accept her choosing not to be in my life because of it.
She's more accepting now (as I have to remind her that my husband and I aren't monogamous and I wear queer paraphernalia) but we'll see when I get a gf. I don't want a triad tho.

Polyamorous relationships can damage a marriage. I'm not saying it always ends up this way, but an old friend from college found out the hard way that it can be risky - they ended up divorced from their spouse and married to the third party. I personally am not poly and my big question concerns the measure in which one can really give everything to one person and be one with them if there is a third party in the picture. I admit to being skeptical and hewing to the more idealistic side of the question.

The Bible does say not to judge less you be judged, HOWEVER, the Bible also states that if someone is doing something wrong you can tell them about it in a kind way, and if they don’t listen then take another person with you to tell that person what they are doing is wrong.
