A YOUNG couple want to tackle the judgement their interracial relationship has provoked from friends, family and strangers. Angel Nguyen, 29, and Donny Nguyen, 33, are in an AMBW relationship - which stands for Asian Men Black Women, referring to interracial coupling. They have been together for six years and eloped nearly four years ago. Donny told Barcroft TV: “The most challenging aspect of being in an AMBW relationship is the judgement we face from everyone - I get looks and Angel gets stares.”

I'm a black woman with an Asian man and we also get looks but we ignore the negativity. As long as you guys love each other, color shouldn't be an issue. I get families want a "pure" bloodline or whatever but love happens within all shapes and colors. We can be long distance friends.. those weren't your real friends if this the reason why it ended.

Loosing all of your friends is crazy. Especially to stick around when you are in a healthy relationship but to get lost when you are amazingly happy. That is beyond me. They only wanted to see you miserable. I can’t stand when someone gives their opinion about, “ I see you with….?” It’s only when we don’t allow peoples opinion of us to control us that we find true happiness! Also another observation. Growing up many of black families had Asian grandmothers. We saw a lot of this in the South. Maybe because of the location it’s strange to see but in the South I grew up in the 80’s seeing a lot of this, it was normal. It’s crazy how people will make you feel like an outcast for their status quo!

We broke up for various reasons related to cultural and professional barriers (I can't live in Japan, he can't leave Japan), but I never argued with him, it was my best relationship, we parted amicably. I'm single since then, and I would like to date again someone from another culture/race, hopefully someone whose life agenda will match mine better...
Why another Race? As you know first hand it's more complicated. Marriage would be even more challenging. I am not against inter racial relationships but unless it's the same nationality I think it's not worth seeking out another race unless you just happen to fall in love with one. Marriage is tough without these added pressures

Dating itself is a big word for me, I'm not easily swayed; if I don't have a spiritual connection with the person, nothing, no race and no artifice, would play in their favor anyway.
