Yes, the quail cage is awesome and we've really enjoyed it. Thank you for the blessing and for watching our video. May God bless you and yours as well.
Hello beautiful SoilSista! We are just getting into quail and watching Al your videos. Ha! I'm so excited and taking tons of notes on hatching and rasing quail. Subscribed, and turned our bell on so we don't miss a thing. Many blessings to you and thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
Thank you so much for all of this. You sure put a smile on my face and I needed it today. Perfect timing! There will be a video up this week where I’ll be checking in on the quail eggs in the incubator and see how they’re doing and I’ll be talking about what’s to come, what to look for, and what to expect. I love having you along! The very best of luck with your quail.
@@SimplyMadeHomestead Thank you SoilSista! W need all the tip we can get. Ha! I'm nervous and excited all in one. Want to be sure we are doing everything the correct way. We appreciate you 🙏🏾
Instead of going with the incubator you have, I opted for the Borotto 24. I can incubate up to 96 quail eggs at a time. No extra purchase required. Going into lockdown next Sunday.
@@raymccarty4612 good for you, I’m excited for you! I’ve got a hatch going right now and it’s looking pretty good. Definitely need a new incubator though.
First time I've seen one of your videos 👍🏽I'm getting things together to start raising quail for something to do when I retire the first of the year I have just about everything but the feeders. I have been trying to find the kind that you have and not having any luck I was wondering if you could help me out and let me know where you got yours Thanks
I don’t but I need to make one because I’ve had so many people ask about it. I can you this though. The ends are the same size as the 3 level and the spacing for pans are the same as well. The only differences is that it is 2 levels instead of 3 and the length. The total length from end to end is 75” which means that the boards that join the ends are 72”. I hope that helps. There are lots of videos in the raising quail playlist that show the grow out pen for reference. The doors are the same size as in the 3 level too. Best of luck and thanks so much for watching!
I'm 71, live alone and because of economy I want to raise quail. I just found your channel!! Is it still worth raising Marion? I can raise in empty upstairs or on back porch. I want to know as much as I can before I would get any. Thank you, God Bless here from north central Wisconsin
Yes, absolutely! They take up very little space, they aren't noisy but make the cutest little sounds occasionally, and take very little feed. They lay eggs like crazy and the meat is delicious. They are smelly quick because their poultry and poultry poop is a stinker. But with the trays it does make it very easy to clean. I use shavings in my trays (the sweet pine smell) but I've been wondering if shavings mights get hard to find or too expensive. You could also add builders sand (Lowe's and Home Depot sells it in bags in the garden section) and use that in the trays which you could scoop like kitty litter. I've never thought of this before now, so thank you for pushing my mind in that direction. Kitty litter would really help with the smell and make it super easy to clean. Living in Wisconsin, the winter would be a huge concern and raising them indoors would be a plus for you and the quail. Birds like cooler temps better than hot and humid but they still need a warm place to stay during extreme cold. I'm really excited for you and your new adventure. Here is a list of the reasons you should raise quail: PROS: * take up very little space * quiet * require little feed * mature at 8 weeks (which means able to breed and begin to lay eggs) * quail eggs are higher in protein and vitamins * many allergic to chicken eggs are able to eat quail eggs * easy to dispatch and clean (few tools needed) CONS: * need an incubator to hatch eggs (I've never had a quail go broody and sit on her eggs.) If I can be of any further help to you, please don't hesitate to ask. I do love to hear from my viewers and I'd love to help however I can. In my opinion, you just can't go wrong with quail. And during the times that we're in and the uncertainty of the future, you have made a really good choice to go with quail. Best wishes, Marian The Quail Lady
@@SimplyMadeHomestead Thank you SO much for answering so quickly. I must figure a way to help feed my grandchildren and this would be wonderful. So kind of you. Talking with my daughter to get help with building cages and getting supplies will take me a while. I live on SS so money is tight but I can afford these little Gems. Have a wonderful day
@@RhondaRichter-1234 I just thought of something. If you’re going to put them upstairs, you have to think about how you’re going to clean their cages. We take ours outside, remove the floors, and use the pressure washer. I wish the poop fell cleanly through the hardware cloth but unfortunately it doesn’t.
I have never seen a broody hen and I have no experience with it. Perhaps if they lived in a more natural setting rather than a cage but I really don’t have any knowledge in them hatching their own eggs. Sorry!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Sounds like a quail of an adventure! 😄
😂😂😂 it is that!
I have three of these incubators and I love them

Love your video i have a question is it ok to keep the feed in a 5 gallon bucket with the lid on? I keep it out side
If it’s in the shade it should be fine. If it ever begins to mold throw it out. Mine stays in a hot garage and it has been fine.

That’s a wonderful idea!
Egg size doesn't indicate bird size.

can you let the quails incubate there own eggs

What is the breed of your dog? Kangal?
The beige one with the black mussel is an Anatolian Shepherd and Merle is an Australian Shepherd Mix.
@@SimplyMadeHomestead Ok, thanks for the feedback. I like dogs.
Me too! They’re both really good dogs and Anatolians are guardian dogs.
